The Norwegian energy company Statoil is about to change name.
- Statoil has for almost 50 years served us well. Looking towards the next 50 years, reflecting on the global energy transition and how we are developing as a broad energy company, it has become natural to change our name. The name Equinor captures our heritage and values, and what we aim to be in the future, says our President and CEO Eldar Sætre.
So how did we come up with Equinor? The name is formed by combining “equi”, the starting point for words like equal, equality and equilibrium, and “nor”, signaling a company proud of its Norwegian origin.

Congratulation for the Change of Name of Statoil. we have worked for Statoil in India in Pipe Mill Inspection. We thank all statoil employees who were in our contact. I love the video and the name change! In spite of the naysayers, the name change was a smart move given the direction the world is heading with Sustainable Development Goals. Removing the word "oil" was a global conscious move while the prefix "Equi" speaks to the company's AIM to have an equal and worldwide presence. The suffix, "nor", still pays homage to the people and brainchild state of Norway. Genius!! I trust, however, that the company vows to live by the values behind the name change.

Throwing out a strong and well known name for a stupid one.. clearly being ceo does not require you to be smart... oh and Equinor = Equi short for Equine as in horse and nor as norway so will they start dealing in horses now?

I get the name change, "Equi" short for equilibrium. I get that they want to separate themselves from the state. What I don't get, is why they are forcing this political agenda.

A black man dressed up as a woman, with make-up on, smiling into the camera; a young girl with "The Future is Female" logo on her t-shirt; and the voice-over talking about "Cheering for diversity and equality"... Is this an ad for an energy company, for a political party, for an LGBT movement, what is this? Very confusing.

Also in companies around the world ,companies of Statoil (Equnoir size ) - 500 positions announced and in Statoil 5-10 positions. It was always like this. Whats happening Equnor (be honest and not pollitically correct)?

as addition to my previous comment- what is percentage of foreigners working in Equinor Norway (i would say between 20-30 %) and what is percentage of feoreigners on manager positions in Statoil Norway i am pretty sure less then 0.05 % . This is you equality dear Statoil i mean Equinor or whatever. Show me statistics if you have courage on that what i just mentioned.

This company is quite xenophopic ( i know its hard to believe but its like that). Most of all this company is most xenophopic to "East" European Man (woman which work in Equinor married to Norwegians are ok) but "East" european man in this company are most discriminised.i If you wan to change why dont you change discrimination to Slavic people (man primarly). No change in whats most important . Only Equinor(Statoil) Change in that what is politically correct and visible to the world (thats what you are changing in )

Why so many employed IT in Equinor from India and contracted companies from India, well known fact that East Europeans are very very good in IT and not expensive ...though i heard for very few Eastern Europeans (as IT personell) employed in Equinor. So your stories about equality are just Bed time politically correct stories for little children not PRO East Europeans (Europeans) at all
