I was homeless for a few months when I was a young adult and the first meal I had back home was Thanksgiving dinner. It has had a special place in my heart since and this spread is absolutely beautiful and looks delicious! Stay safe and healthy 🧡
you all probably dont give a damn but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost the login password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me
1. These recipes are VERY basic and not my "normal" style of recipes that a lot of you are used to. I just wanted to create a video showing that anyone can make a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner on a tight budget. 2. What we thought about how everything tasted. - We truly enjoyed this meal! And would be super happy to serve or be served this meal. The turkey breast filets were delicious marinated in the GV Italian dressing. Darren smoked them and I didn't get to film it. But you could cook them in any way. Grill, bake, pan fry, etc. Deviled eggs surprised me. I am very picky (usually) about our meat and eggs. I loved these! Could not tell a difference. Although I probably will still buy organic cage free eggs. Candied Yams, delish! I will use butter if I make them this way again, but they tasted great. Mashed Potatoes, Honestly...with the turkey gravy over them.-.we loved them! Green Bean Casserole - Tasted like the classic. Chocolate Pie - VERY sweet. Almost 2 sweet. I recommend using only 2-3 cubes of the baking chocolate if you do use it, or go for the Hersheys if you can! Biscuits - More dense and heavy, as compared to a light and fluffy biscuit. Still tasted great. ALL IN ALL - We give it a 9/10. We had plenty of leftovers also.
Those sweet potatoes looked great! We’ve always served them savoury, but I really want to try this recipe. Maybe I will look for a reason to celebrate US Thanksgiving. :)
@@CookCleanAndRepeat I saw your casserole dish on an earlier video and ordered it - not realizing I was getting a whole set of baking/serving dishes for that price! I was thrilled, of course. It goes beautifully with my blue willow dishes (that I bought one piece at a time from Kroger in the very early years of my marriage!) and I'm looking forward to using them this Thanksgiving! Thanks for sharing the info on that set. 😊
That is so kind of you my husband is a firefighter and it really does mean so much to them when members of their communities do such heart felt things for them thank you
@@casualchaos1006 thank you. It was heartbreaking last year for me because I didn't even take into consideration the changes due to covid so I cooked for 3 firehouse and unfortunately they couldn't take the food so I had to give away to neighbors and whomever I could find.
Jen, this was a wonderfully thoughtful and helpful gift to many right now. This is how my mamaw cooked for years while raising my mom, aunt and uncle on her own - she did the best she could with what she had and never once did her children do without. This is eye opening to many who may be blessed enough to not have or may never have had this worry and may lessen the worry of many who may be facing the holiday season with much less than they ever imagined. Sharing this video so hopefully others will see and share it, too. I love watching your videos, but this one is the best! Thanks, Jen. Sending love and best wishes to you and yours!
Love the sentiment behind this video and all of the recipes remind me of Thanksgiving growing up, a family of 5, single Mom and elderly Grandmother who couldn't work. ♡ Takes me back to a simpler time when I didn't know we were "poor."
I love this because times aren’t great for many people and to be able to feed your family on a low budget this holiday season (and everyday really) is one less thing to worry about..❤️
I once lived in a pretty poor area and we didn't have a stove so for thanksgiving that year i just cooked a chicken in an electric skilit and a hotplate and crockpot and microwave..dad and i had microwave mashed spuds and corn and peas and an ice box pie for desert and it turned out great and rent that year took any food money so.i went food bank hopping and that was a blessing and we had a great thanksgiving
I never comment on your videos bc I always watch them on the TV. I have been watching you for just about 6 months now. I felt the urge to comment on this one. I think it is so incredible that you made this entire feast on such a budget. The entire concept is so timely and appropriate for so many. So we'll thought out and valuable. I think so many families can benefit from this innovative video. You really go the extra mile in your content and it's very appreciated 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I loved this video. So many people are struggling to make ends meet these days and this is a wonderful idea for those on a budget! Thanks Jen!❤️ 🍁🍁🦃🦃🍗🍗🍂🍂
Your husband is a hoot! That looked delicious! I add celery cooked in butter to my Stove Top. I've never been much of a cook, but you are amazing & so sweet!
This is perfect for families who are on very tight budgets. I’m a single mom so I have been buying a little each week for Thanksgiving. Thank you for sharing.
Jen fantastic video. Your videos are pure perfection. I know this had to be a lot of work to make this video. Really appreciate all you do. That meal looked fantastic. Love you sweetie. God bless! Marion
This is an absolutely fantastic idea, thank you, Jen. There are so many people out there that are going to be struggling this year. And I hope they see this video of yours. The entire Meal looks so good, even if it was all from basic recipes. Nothing wrong with Basic when you are struggling.
I always LOVE your outfits. Everything is so cozy & flattering an sooo my style ! Could you maybe ever do a fall/winter looks idea clip in your videos 🧡🍁 I would love to know where you find some of you outfit pieces.
I like to "mash" my potatoes with an immersion/ hand blender. so quick and easy and you can get them super creamy if you like, or you can go easy and leave some lumps. I do that for my yams too because I like my yams pretty basic with just butter, salt and a Splash of milk.
I think this video was such a great idea. I was very excited to see you stuck within the budget and made a beautiful dinner. This is such a good idea for people who may not be able to go visit their families due to Covid. They don't have to spend alot to make a yummy meal thanks so much for sharing this.
Such a sweet idea! I spend way too much time and money prepping for Thanksgiving. I love the simplicity, but mainly your intentions here! I hope your family has a great day!
So glad you made a video like this. For those on a budget, especially this holiday season. You’re awesome with all this inspiration!!! My mom AND step dad both, have tested positive for covid. My grandpa also has covid. He has been in quarantine for awhile now, still trying to get over it. Usually we gather & go to our families houses for the holidays. This thanksgiving I will be cooking, which I don’t mind. I love doing it. So this helped me out with some affordable ideas 💕
Thanks for the video! It was great . Everything looked good . Yeah most times would do things a little different but these are different times . Thanks for showing you can still have all the traditional things and still be a great meal ❤️
I see that you like temp-tations dishes too. Mine are the orange ones. Great video!.A suggestion about the sweet potatoes . You can use a large can of Bruces' Yams . There is a great recipe on the can. I take this to church covered dish dinners especially at Christmas. ( Unfortunately not this year).
What a wonderful idea with the turkey breast. I'm going to look for some. This year my Birthday falls on Thanksgiving so I really don't want to do alot of cooking especially with covid no family gatherings.
Yoi have such a beautiful heart and I LOVED this video! I’m newer here for decor but I do hope you do more cooking. And thank you for the reminder to give from our surplus and our drought 💗/
Delicious budge friendly meal. Thank you for adding that not everyone is able to prepare their normal Thanksgiving dinner. Your bakeware is beautiful. Would you mind telling me where you purchased it?
Great job, Jen! We are going to be cutting down on our grocery bill for Thanksgiving, this year. We just don't have the extra money. We always have so many leftovers that end up getting thrown away, anyway. Thanks for doing this video. I am sure it will give a lot of folks some good ideas on ways to cut down. Love and Hugs!♥️♥️
It all looks Amazing!! I think I may give this meal a try!! We eat a huge meal with all the family, but I like to cook for my little family at home... This way we can have food all weekend to eat on..This would be perfect for my little family of 3.....Love it ❤️
For anyone that’s struggling with Thanksgiving Ibotta is offering a free Thanksgiving rebate. You do have to pay for everything upfront, so that’s not idea. Though, they repay it rather quickly. I bought my $20 Turkey yesterday, and recurved a $9 rebate for it today. They also have rebates for cranberries sauce, stuffing, frozen green beans, mashed potatoes, and Coca Cola. I just wanted to throw it out there to anyone who might benefit from it. Happy Thanksgiving!
Ibotta is doing a thankgiving dinner I am buying it all and even thought I am laid off due to covid I have enough and will be donating the food that I get to help since I can not get the Turkey I usually get each year but want to always do something cause so many do not have and this year even more even though it is a small blessing I pray it helps someone
