Deserts are on the move with the shifting winds and changing climate.
They are the most haunting of all the Earth’s landscapes. Sometimes we think of them as vast empty spaces that dwarf and test our human spirit. But that view is wrong in so many ways.
Deserts are full of colour and contrast. There are mountains and lagoons among the dunes and plains. They often teem with life and are rich in resources. Their peoples have remarkable qualities of ingenuity and endurance, wisdom and humour - their festivals and gatherings full of colour and energy.

India has desert, snowy mountains, green mountains, beaches, rivers, it's own set of islands, an ocean in it's name, people from every religion Hindu, Sikh, Christianity, Islam, Jain, Jew, Zorastrian, Buddhist & also 1/6th population of earth. There is a reason why India is called a subcontinent.

I have been to India about 30 times but must admit that all of these trips except for one were on business. In 2017, my wife and I travelled through the Thar Desert. We travelled by car for about 2,800 Klms for almost a month, starting out in Delhi after spending a few days in Varanasi. We stayed in both of the Most Exotic Marigold Hotels and many other great places in Rajasthan. Needless to say, we both love India and it’s people. We were planning to go back again in 2020 but Covid laid waste to these plans. We have been fortunate to be able to have done this. If you want to have the holiday of a lifetime, in the future, please visit Incredible India. COVID permitting of course. The country is Tourism savvy with plenty to offer and of course things have changed a great deal since I first travelled there in 1990.

@@dipalachauhan6956 You telling me! I always feel so bad when ever I see camels because we couldn't make their life better. I am from Ethiopia and I had worked for one year in one of the arid area of our country just like the one on the video to support the pastoralists with Irrigation program. I had learned a great deal of knowledge about such communities and the camels, sheep's and goats they possess. I am not really exaggerating if I say the emotional tie between the camels and their owners is like a mother and her first birth child. The camels are all the resources those communities have for transportation, for milk, for tillage and every thing. I have not seen it my self but those pastoralists i worked with told me told me slaughtering camel is like a rare life time event and not happening often at all. So when ever the camel is brought to be slaughtered it usually cries like a human. This is what they told me and I am sure they are truthful looking on the intimacy.

@@dipalachauhan6956 let me assure you, the village people, once they depend on the cattle for their life, won't ever send it to the slaughterhouse. If they can't afford it, they will sell the camel to the similar community, not to a slaughterhouse. Even if the later is more profitable, for them its their family member. They have names for their animal, they know each of them, they know every one's personality. I've seen the village life closely enough and know at least that. There might be exceptions though. Also people keep some animals like goats etc just for the sake of selling them later for slaughter, that's different story. But the villagers that once thrive on an animal won't leave it to die. Also they don't exploit it to the hilt, most keep them as their family members. Not like the modern folks, they don't milk them to the last drop, don't see them only as a source of money. They truly respect the animal and see them as a life not just a thing. Their life is troublesome, but it is truly simple and respectful.

@@rexxsade6425 indian culture is deeper than modern religions. English letters won't replace Indian scriptures the political scenario ingrained in India is like that, there are language and cultural politics going strong in India, thousands of political parties based on culture and language in India and its even become stronger in this decade.

Look at these Gulf States. Pakistan and India ought to learn and practise. There is no shortages of Water only bad and mismanagement ...

I think shortage of water is only in dessert...I am living in Gujarat most western part 50km away from sea...I never faced any problem with water Where my whole family income still 2000 dollars... I think the problem may be due to particular locality or due to dessert... Btw ISRAEL has best practice in water management...

Ha ha... I am an Indian and Hindu, but never looked at the issue from that angle. :). The thing is that Hindus are traditionally raised to be one with the nature. The walls separating the human, the animals, and the physical worlds are not so stark and so thick as they can be in many other cultures. Sometimes, this approach works for us, sometimes it doesn't, but it does define the soul of India.

@@darrenmurray861 Brother, distinctions between Hinduism and Buddhism are overblown by academics and perhaps some ideologues. I personally see Hinduism as the base upon which magnificently beautiful and tall structures of Buddhism (and also of Jainism and Sikhism, in India) were built by amazing new philosophers and thinkers. Our ultimate sensitivities remain the same.
@darrenmurray861
@darrenmurray861 2 года назад
@@PS-ej2xn indeed; anyone who cares to understand each of Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism and Hinduism will see that their route is very close. We are taught that Shakyamuni was taught the Vedas when growing up. It was not the Vedas that he chose to replace, nor the use of animal sacrifice at the time. From my understanding of Sikhism, of which my adoptive sister is one, the understanding of godhead is a monotheistic one, but all the actions of understanding god are the same ones employed in the other Vedic paths. People will always try to pull us apart and describe our differences, but the truth will prevail in time brother.
