While not a comics fan, per se, my wife has a small collection of solo series featuring her favorite female heroes (Wonder Woman, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Woman, etc.). I remember being in a random shop when my wife FINALLY completed her run of Dazzler, and she was so excited to cross that series off her list. But then the store owner asked her if she had the printer error version of Dazzler # 1...and her heart sank. I had never heard of it until that moment, but now she sent me on a quest. "FIND ME THE DAZZLER # 1 WITH THE B&W AD PAGES!!!" Since that time, I managed to find a mid-grade copy at a random convention and later upgraded her to a high grade copy. When I joke with her that we could make a killing selling the duplicate if/when Taylor Swift debuts as Dazzler, she screamed "They're BOTH mine!" A woman after my own heart!

Yeah, any comic that has a print run in the millions can't be rare. I have about 9 or 10 copies of that, bought when it came out. Read one, had a Deadpool card in it. The rest are still sealed lol. Worthless...

Most DCU logo variants are easy to obtain if you just want a copy, but finding them in 9.8 is a different story!

I was so taken with X-Men 141 when it came out that I found and bought a winter jacket from Men's Wearhouse like the one Wolverine is wearing on the cover. I have 32 long boxes in my garage, and I'll bet that only one short box has books worth more than $5.00.

I wasn’t aware of that on this particular issue either. But, with almost all Direct Edition comics that have a barcode, note that the last 5-digits of the barcode mean something: - The first 3-digits are the issue number (Issue #68 would be "068") - The 4th digit is the cover number ("1" for Cover A, "2" for Cover B, etc…) - The 5th (last) digit is the printing ("1" for 1st Printing, ”2" for second printing, etc…) So, if you have a comic who’s issue number is 68, it is Cover C and the 1st Printing, the last 5-digits of the barcode will read, "06831." 🙂 "The More You Know" 🌈 ⭐️

@@johnnydropkicks That's generally the case, yes, but I didn't realize that the censored version had a 2 signifying a second printing. Also, as a quick note, check the UPCs on the latest Vampirella series - since #666 came out a few months ago the numbering is goofy: #666 is 660** #667 is 670** #668 is 680** I'm assuming the Vampirella books have enough variants that the first two digits are the last two of the issue#, digits 3&4 signify the variant, while the last digit would be used for printing. It's not super important, but it does give the CLZ Comics app a bit of a headache.

@@jackhole1979 Yeah, that can happen when there are a bajillion variants. Also, I noticed with the Amazing Spider-Man title (and this may apply to other Marvel series as well) that the retailer incentive covers’ and retailer exclusive covers’ last two digits: - Start at 16 - Then go 17, 18, 19, 20 - Skip 21 (and every number higher number that ends with a "1") - Then go 22, 23, 24, etc… There doesn’t have to be more than nine covers before they jump to ”16." This has be going on for the last year or so.

I’ve never even seen a low grade copy of ASM 300. It’s a newer book with a million copies out there. I bought mine for $10 back in the 90s(I had to save up my lunch money!). Now people are paying almost a grand for it. Crazy!!!! The internet is kind of a blessing and a curse for collectors, depending on “fomo”.

Great subject matter. Very interesting. I have the Green Lantern #1. I think most of those were shipped to the UK/Europe which might make it a bit scarcer in the US. We get our comics quite early in the UK to allow them to be on sale on Wednesday morning so they're often already en route before the mistake is caught.

My favorite rare printing error is when it changes the color of the hero's costume. I've seen a Brave and the Bold cover where the cyan ink was not applied, leaving Batman with a pink mask, cape, and gloves but his suit was still normal grey. Haven't seen many errors like that in the wild...

People don't seem to understand the definition of "rare." Honestly, it's a word dealers use to get someone to buy a book. Buyers need to do their research before jumping right in. Kudos to you for making this video!

I didn't know my Iron Man #15 was supposedly rare 😅 although I did know the Dazzler error existed & bought a couple on purpose. I kept one. Rare comics are, like, artist proofs & con exclusives. Rare doesn't always (or even usually) mean more valuable.

The interesting thing with the Batman & Robin issue 10 is that I never realised they actually printed the swears then blacked over them, I always just assumed they just printed the black bars where the swear would go. So that actually taught me something about how modern comics are printed.

Great content! Whatnot is bad for questionable comments on books by sellers. I have been into comics since the mid 70s ( yup, I'm old lol) but I remember the glut of "rare" books from the 90s that you couldn't give away but now are on sale online. I still get burnt once in a while but I try to stick to the collectors golden rule.."Only buy what you like because you might get stuck with it" Thanks for the content and God Bless
