Mr Gold you are truly a humble man. Your whole image is based on being real and honest. Taking trains to games, having chats with fans of Spurs and the other team, the donations you get is based on that. You sell Spurs and not yourself. Most people who talk about their club do it more to promote themselves they use their club as a way to get attention. Everything good that comes to you is due to you being a good man.
The donations you've received are a true testament to the community that you've created around the work that you do. Keep spreading positivity through your journalism and movie reviews alike. Cheers!
Crazy decision to leave out Spence. Very disappointed by that one. It was an obvious decision to leave out Forster. If he doesn't trust Brandon Austin, why has he just signed him to a 5-year contract? Nonsensical one way or another.
You’re welcome! Don’t do a marathon livestream. Just enjoy the scenery along the route and everyone cheering for you. Maybe one day you can run Boston!

Thank you so much, I love Ali but he really needs to do this, everyone doesn’t have an hour to listen to it all, it really doesn’t take that long to do either
Thank you Alasdair. I''m puzzled by the Djed Spence omission too. He must feel like life is two steps forward, one step back. Really enjoyed the summary of performances/fortunes of loanees and recent departees. Gotta feel a bit for Dane Scarlett.
I really look forward to the justification for leaving Spence out as it totally baffles me,,,and if Forster is our best number two keeper then the other two must be pretty bad !!
Exactly. Austin is 25, and he's never going to get experience without playing, and if they think he will never be good enough, why give him another 5 year contract?
The lack of defensive cover for the Europa league makes the Skipp sale look even more risky now. Not only would he have had one of the free spaces in the squad, but with him being used as a LB by Ange last season, he could have filled in in an emergency if Djed isn't going to be involved. All we can really hope for is no injuries but.. it is Spurs 🥴
"Postecoglu doesnt sign short term stop gap" - Signing Werner so early absolutely ruined our window for me. So many better options had we waited, is there an option to terminate the loan in Jan?
Thanks for the video Ali. The Spence decision is ridiculous. Austin is 25, and he's never going to get experience without playing. If they think he'll never be good enough, why give him another 5 year contract?
Cheers Ali, definitely needed some spurs content to get through the break. I think the donations speak volumes of the community you’ve built here and online. Very well done 👏
20:42 I’m surprised it took this long for them to confirm. I remember commenting on your video about the match that I thought it was gum and am still shocked that they are not made to get rid of it on entering the pitch
Question for the Q/A Given tottenham were without a backup striker for large parts of last season did ange not think that lankshear was ready at that point, has he been suprised by his development, or was this part of the plan in terms of the way he is being developed Love the videos keep it up !
Feel sorry for Djed, like you I was looking forward to him getting a lot of game time in Europe! Really enjoyed the loan updates and the players that have left!
Feels like it might be an interesting week for Ange explaining this selection if other things go against him this week. Long way to go this season but moving for Werner early now looks a terrible decision with all the knock on impacts
How do you get time to train for a marathon? 😅 It's amazing how generous people have been - this shows both how important the battle against cancer is, as well as how much everyone values your presence in our community. Heart-warming stuff; social media isn't all bad after all. Thanks as always.
There a few things that make laugh more regularly than Ali underestimating the love hes gonna receive and the humble discomfort it brings him 🤣. 12k holy crap. Reckon Levy chucked in a tenner?
Veliz might have arrived at Spurs with expectation to be Richarlison's back-up, then saw Solanke join and Scarlett and Lankshear pass him, as his loan stalled. So one can understand the emotional impact of his progress taking an upturn.
If I were Djed Spence I would be seriously pissed off about being left out of the Europa League for a 4th goalie unless Ange had said to me you'll be starting every league game the Sunday following the Europa game. Doing that would guarantee him games and rotation in the starting line ups, that's the only way I can see that keeping everybody in a reasonable frame of mind, happy I think is out of the question under the circumstances. I buddy of mine said to me Valiz had been nominated for young player of the month in Spain, he knows more about Spanish football than I do and I must admit I've been wrong at least once or twice before in my life. Hope the money for the run keeps mounting, thanks for the updates, take care of yourself and have fun.
Djed Spence came from the Championship and didn't make the most of the opportunity as well as some of his loan spells. He only has himself to blame but is certainly not in a position to throw his toys out of his pram.
50:55 Unfortunately as a local Seattle Sounders fan who was at this match, I can confirm that LAFC actually won, and are in the U.S. Open Cup Final on the 25th.
Gutted for Spence, no reward for his preseason efforts. Feel like Ange and the board are making some questionable decisions. Our defence was a gaping hole for periods last season and we only played 41 games. Not entirely sure what the thought process here especially considering three games in VDV already has a hamstring issue. Gold highlighting why do we need another keeper. Still feel our focus has to be solely on the premier league. Let the squad players and youth team get game time in the cup games. Keep the first team fresh for the league games, anything else with our injury record is madness.
Just started Curb Your Enthusiasm. I have no idea how I haven’t seen this until today. Leaving Spence out is strange to say the least. I hope Spence doesn’t end up like Lo Celso.
I think sarr could be used as a right back. Seems like he was covering for porro a few times by moving over to the right when porro went forward last season.
A question for you - being connected to the inner sanctum of Tottenham, have you heard anything regarding their (the board's) commitment to Ange's rebuild of the team? Further, any word of their pleasure/ displeasure of Ange's plans / performance so far? Thanks Ali. Great channel & all the best for your run. Steve Hope
So many comments complaining at 4 keepers, do NONE of them understand that dropping 2 of those would still not leave a space for Jed or anyone else. However i do think we should have dropped Forster for Jed.
Good luck for the marathon 👍knowing our club i can see this Spence decision coming back to bite Ange in the bottom, i pray it doesn't but i just know our luck. Im really interested to hear his reasons as i feel this is going to effect Djed's confidence just as its just been picked up. I know Gray can play 2 positions but that left side what Davies ??? i don't know but lets see
I understand Ange not wanting players who don't fit the system but sometimes you just need squad players. Getting in defensive cover out of some of the free agents that were available (Lloyd Kelly, Tosin, Hermoso) wouldn't have been a bad idea, even if they weren't the 'perfect' fit. Now we're a couple of injuries or suspensions away from a crisis at the back once again.
As harsh as it may sound, something/someone not being your problem anymore is a very satisfying feeling. Not having to support Emerson Royal the footballer has been bliss
Hi Alasdair will Grey Bergvall and Vuskovic be able to be classed as club trained.in the future. Also I will be call Bergvall the wrong way as long as he at the club not placing any blame mate
Great video as usual! One minor error at 50:56… LAFC in fact BEAT Seattle Sounders in the US Open Cup 1-0. Hugo and his team will be playing in the finals against Kansas City on September 25th, so he still has a chance for silverware !
I always thought Forster would be in and assumed 1 of the forwards would be left out, probably Werner with Moore and Lanks the most 1st team involved B-list players.
Q: Sonny has a 'meet and greet' with AIA Singapore staff on September 23rd, I guess this must be online given our fixtures?! I wondered if you/the press were aware just how much he does commercially in Asia? And it makes the inevitable transition in a few years or so a tough prospect, even with the new lad coming in. Also, any thoughts on if Ange might be swayed to play him when he otherwise might not (especially as we know Sonny always says he's ready even when he doesn't feel quite right)? A bit of a different one for a change (maybe!). Good luck for the marathon Ali, brilliant stuff, cheers!
Thank you for the video, Alasdair. Really hoping that Solanke will be fit for this weekend. With Rice (and maybe Odegaard) out, I feel like Spurs can definitely win the North London Derby. Congrats on all the money you are raising; it is a great cause that is well-worth supporting!
Thanks, Alasdair for the video to fill the void that is the international break. I have to admit that I do not really see the logic in leaving Jed Spence out of the European squad. It hardly sends a positive signal to the lad who has had to fight hard to reestablish himself as a Spurs player. BTW, it may not be all doom and gloom for Emerson as he struggled initially at Spurs and the I recall the fans cheering when he was substituted early in one match. Q&A: Do Spurs have someone whose main responsibility is to find loan moves and/or permanent transfers for players - some combination of a careers advisor and a publicist who is able to “sell” the qualities of the outgoing player to other clubs? Sort of the opposite of what a scout does.
kompany got a lot of credit for sticking to his guardiola inspired principles at burnley, and as a result got one of the biggest jobs in football, despite getting the side relegated. Maybe these strategies were misunderstood or misapplied. Or they just were not appropriate for the quality of player at burnley. Likewise ange is also an uncompromising disciple of guardiloa, and again you have to wonder if he fully understands the gospel or knows how to tweak it for players costing less than £100m each. Football purists might say this slow, high possession style is how the game should be played regardless of results, but for me, I'd like to see periods of quicker transitions just for a change and see what happens.
I always have the feeling with Ange that the tactics are at least in part driven by man management ideas. Playing in a way that people playing it enjoy and are excited about. Very much in the mentality leads to results sort of a view of things. Where the tactics are a way to create the mentality that wins.
Ange is not a disciple of Pep… he was taking stick for his open style with the Aussie U17 & U20’s teams when Pep was still in the middle of his playing career
You’ve got us through some tough times … not just watching spurs 😂. Not surprised you’ve had a great response to the run. I’m sure you’ll inspire a few to do the same!
We're talking like these first team players shouldn't be playing in Europe and the premier league, but if we were in the champions league we'd expect them to be playing.
@@AlasdairGoldjournalist maybe that means we'll be seeing a bit more of Djed in the premier league then...to put the most positive possible spin on it for him!
I don't think Ange will rotate much. We've seen how it falls apart when there is no VDV in the squad, he won't risk being eliminated in the group stage...
It’s like Spurs don’t care about Dane Scarlett’s career considering what appears to be another horrible loan - Dane is a good player, always performs well for the England youth teams so it’s not a lack of quality. Considering how they handled Alfie Devine’s loans as well, questions need to be asked of our loan department.
Question: i always hear people saying levy did this and lange did this even paratici might be doing that in transfer and player decisions. Can you explain the precise hierarchy especially in transfer decisions?
I could only think that Ange kept Spence out of Europe is either a fee in his contract if he plays European football, or, Ange saying he needs to still work harder to be in his team, I can't work it out.
He'll probably have to use 1 or 2 PL subs defensively so he has defensive legs for Europe and cup. Probably thinks he can get by till Summer. We'll have to see.
Football is harder to enjoy when the first thing you say about a young player is "they're currently injured". It is happening too much. Firstly Spurs need to get their own medical department in order (there's a new head of that department, I think). Secondly the amount of football needs to change.
If you wear a Spurs shirt, Danny Blanchflower is the number 420 in the club legacy number list. Would be fitting to run just over 42km in a Spurs top with him on your back! Just a nice thought, and best of luck Al. You aiming for a specific time?
I think there is logic to it. Last in last in on the Europa list. U have to show that u are giving the team 100 % for an extended period if u want the manager to trust that u will be there showing up solid 100 % performances when needed...
Hi Alasdair, I asked this question in the early summer and would love to hear your thoughts. I’m a Tottenham fan from the United States. In the U.S., sports media and players celebrate free agency in sports like the NBA, NFL, and MLB. Fans know these players aren’t “free” but teams don’t have to give up players, money, or draft picks in order to sign a desired player. Can you speak on why free agent signings aren’t more common in the global soccer/football market? Why are these types of signings typically negatively viewed as a “cheap option”?
Sorry, not Alasdair but I can make a stab at answering. First of all, there are hundreds, if not thousands of soccer players who move clubs every year when they are out of contract, 'Free Agents' in the American parlance. The vast majority of those moves are in lower level leagues in Britain and elsewhere where clubs don't have any money to actually pay a transfer fee or to leagues like MLS, the Turkish Super Lig and the Australian A League where there is a history of older players moving for one last payday before they retire. Top class players in their prime are almost never allowed to run their contracts down because they are too valuable to be allowed to leave for free. Kyllian Mbappe and (sadly for Alasdair) Harry Kane are total outliers in this respect. It's the same reason the top QB's in American Football never hit free agency until their best days are over.
Good one Alli - do you think Ange will try to incorporate Ragusin in the line up vs Arsenal ? - he was one of the few who had a really good game vs Newcastle - but with Van De Ven back its would seem harsh to leave him out ?
Perhaps the training pitch has shown that Spence is actually not yet good enough at LB to be risked in EL. He really looked a fish out of water preseason there… If anything he is a backup RB, and Archie Gray can play there.
Question for the next video: I get the rules for UEFA A and B list. My question is who exactly is on the B list and who could potentially be rotated in if need be or just for cover? I get it’s anyone under 21 who’s been at the club for more than two years, but I’m a bit ignorant of who that is at the club that may have to cycle in and try to impress.
Alasdair the Belgian league is not called the Juliper pro league but the Jupiler pro league! 😂 Jupiler is a beer but I don't think you ever drank one ! 😂
