Leslie Palaypay Some religious texts are very intolerant about infidels, gays, other religions, women (punishing rape victims for "adultery" or sex before marriage) or people who leave a religion. It's very easy to disguise hate speach as a religion. Sharia law is evil in my opinion.

Intronaut both books are evil in my opinion. I see that you're already educated about the subject and you already know that many religions aren't peaceful. I mainly wanted to address Leslie Palaypay's comment about "I would always respect all different religions". I'm from The Netherlands (Europe) and we currently have a lot of problems by being tolerant to the intolerant. I saw Muslims marching in the city of The Hague (Schilderswijk) with Nazi flags whilst shouting "Hamas gas the Jews". This is also the reason why I used Islam as a bad example but I know that there's also hate speech in the Bible.

+Claire Morris i don't think reviews should be considered very seriously with something like this as it's more of an expression than most games are. It's not trying to make you compete against it, it just wants to make you think and reflect on the experience. More along the lines of interactive art than an actual game, People shouldn't be reviewing it as a value for money product, its for charity and tribute, very different.

+Dan Maginnis that's largely what I'm concerned about a game doesnt have to be competative but it should at least utilize the medium to tell the story. If this is little more than window dressing for a story of a cancer victim then I don't think I'm going to pay for it.

+kta1540 "That Dragon" is a metaphor for hardship, in this sense that hardship is Cancer. Some often refer to hardships as demons or dragons, in this instance it's probably more appropriate for it to be a dragon being that the game is revolving around a 4 year old. Dragons are something most young kids identify with as being fierce and dangerous, therein the struggle. That's my take on it at least.

Kawaii Meolu I agree with almost everything you wrote except for one key fact. In creating the game the Greens asked for donations. They told everyone all of the money made from the sale of the game would be given to the two charities in San Francisco who helped them as their son was receiving treatment and dying. Here's the thing..... The Greens haven't given any of the money to the charities. They kept all of it. They stiffed the charities they told every one they promised to help. Including the parents of dying children.

Razor who acquired the property from Greens is giving all the profit to these charities. From what it sounds like it's a one-off deal and the Greens no longer receive anything from the continual sale and definitely will not be benefited financially from Game Awards 2016. As for the initial sum, more research is required, but I doubt the Greens could have overcharged Razor for outrageous large profit (neither will Razor take it if that was a case, it's an indie game not a 3A title). The initial sum could have been used to cover the costs of making this game...because you know, studio staffs don't work for free.

Jam Harry Sight correction and let's be honest. The Greens stated in many interviews they would give all the money from the sale of the game to two specific San Francisco charities which helped them when their child was dying. Remember the Greens received financial donations to create the game so it was not the profits from the sale of the game they promised to give to charities, but the actual money from the sale of the game. Once the Greens sold the game to Razor (for an undisclosed amount of money) Razor wasn't honoring the Greens promise. Razor essentially was saying screw-you to all of the people who donated money to the Greens to create the game. After an huge outcry from the community that Razor was screwing the charities the Greens promised to donate the money to Razor's PR machine announced they would give any money from the profits, not the money from the sale of the game to charity. Now that's it's been close to a year what have the charities the Greens promised to support received? ZERO dollars from that undisclosed about of money from the money the Greens received from Razor. And ZERO dollars from Razor for the profits of the game. I suspect Razor received a huge tax write-off for buying the game with the facade of telling the gaming community they were helping charities. Who got screwed in the Green's deal? The nice kind people who gave money to the Greens thinking it would be used to help the families of dying children and the Gameers who thought when they purchased the game the money they were paying would be given to the charities who help parents of dying children. And the Greens did all of this while claiming to be "good" Christians. It appears these "good" Christians received and pocketed a nice sum of money and didn't help the charities that helped them.

Terence Harris I wasn't being sarcastic, I seriously have no idea why Jesus would need a boat if he can walk on water. I mean sure normal people can walk yet they still use cars, but this preview made it seem like Jesus' life depended on that boat. I have no problem with games or any media having religious tones, but if I'm required to read the entire fucking bible to understand it then I'd rather just take a pass on the whole thing. Assuming everyone understands wtf any of their religious jargon means without a simple explanation isn't pushing religion on anyone, it's simply pushing away people who don't already understand what the hell they're even talking about.
