That Ending Though! Sleep Token - Higher (Reaction) 

“I am granting you more than the debt that I owe” such a hard line! 🤘🏼

Dark Signs was the song that hit you hard in your last reaction. Well, this song, when I first heard it back in the winter of 2019, was the one that hit me hard! I have recently celebrated my 60th birthday, but when I originally heard this back in 2019, it brought back uncomfortable memories of a relationship I had in my late teens. Something I hadn't thought about in almost 40 years! That's one of the reasons I love this band so much. They help with all of that buried trauma and pain. Stay safe 🤘 ✌️

One of my favorite interpretations of this song is that it's actually Sleep talking to Vessel. When you think of it that way, it's easy to hear the lyrics as coming from an abuser. The almost threat at the beginning of "I am a fire and you are dry as bone," the gaslighting of "I am granting you more than the debt that I owe," and the implication in the chorus that they *both* are hurting each other but they like it.

The drums in the early onset give me a shade of "Heaven Beside You" by AIC with those Jazzy fills and backspace

Favorite song off Sundowning is either Dark Signs or Bloodsport... but Bloodsport is one I can only listen to when I'm in a specific headspace. That song punches you in the gut for sure! Dark Signs does too, but Bloodsport is more personal for me, I think.

Just so you know, always expect the unexpected with Sleep Token. None of their songs are the same. They like to keep you on your toes. But they're so good. And remember, this was their first full album, so they were experimenting with musical styles to come up with something that is just so Sleep Token 😅. There are all sorts of influences in their music from 80s power ballads, 90s grunge, early 2000 metal and trap from whenever it started 😂. It's very obvious Vessel listens to all kinds of music. As you go along on this journey, we're right here with you and getting to live vicariously through you to get that feeling from the first time hearing them. It's the best way until new music comes out (I'm praying soon since they signed with RCA earlier this year 😊). But each song may not be your favorite flavor, but just the sheer musicianship and Vessel's vocals are God Tier! Worship ❤

Higher always makes me want to buy an eight string guitar XD I love the guitar in it. But I only have six string guitars 😂 To me Higher is about opposites that collide. The one part wanting silence the other one not. Someone maybe being trapped in a relationship with someone that they have absolutely nothing in common with. Yet they are together. But it does not work really well. "When we are exhausted by all this pretending we just can't resiste the violence".
