Nobody likes a smelly toilet!
It’s important to keep your waterbutt out of direct sunlight and to also prevent debris such as moss, bird fecal matter and whatever else from finding its way into your waterbutt. Doing so will keep the water in your waterbutt from going stagnant and smelling sooner that it otherwise would.
Rain from the roof along with debris falls into this J bend before overflowing into the waterbutt, hopefully trapping the foulest of water and solids.
Emptying the j-bend between rainfalls is important, especially as we approach warmer weather and less frequent rainfall.
