The baby finally meets her Korean grandma, great grandma, and Joe's sister. When I was in my early twenties, I couldn't imagine myself being married, let alone having a family of 8! But having 4 generations in one room is surreal. Each of us have gone through a different path in life with our own convictions, but have managed to come to one place at the same time. I could be living in California right now, still single if taken a different turn a few years ago. My parents could very well have decided to move back to Korea after my sister and I moved out of the house... and as for my great grandmother... I don't know her well enough to speak for her. My relationship with my family has never been close. I'm not sure where that exactly stems from, but maybe it's about time to bridge that gap. My grandmother has been persistently reminding me to visit her and my mom habitually so through that routine, visits wouldn't feel like a special event every time. I believe she wants a family bond that stands the test of time and can transcend time itself. I suppose if a bond can outlast time, then the bond IS the special moment all in itself.
