On June 22, 2014 the Nashville Public Library’s music series "That Nashville Sound", hosted by Ralph Emery, featured Ray Stevens discussing his songs, history, memories, and "Nashville" book
I had no idea that Ray Stevens had done so many different things, or had all of these hits. I remember hearing these songs, over my life, just didn't know they were done by this guy.
Randy. Jeff. This comment is for everyone of you. Randy. My children's grand fauther cut your hair at the barbershop in Fort Payne Al. My nephew played baseball with your son and my children's father was your baseball coach. Long story.short , my sincere prayers ate with all of you. There is a reason that I believe that this came on my phone. Your songs have lifted me up throughout my adult life and the least I can do is keep all of you in my prayers. Prayers for Jeff and his family throughout this detour in their life. Amen
Brings a smile to my face to watch this again. RAY and RALPH go back as friends for many years, so it is a joy to watch this interview, specially now. That first video wasn't done in the 60s but I knew he meant the song, Arab the Arab, watching it I cracked out laughing watching that camel Clyde 🤣🤣 is just terrific, also the wording of I love you, is fantastic like the old silent movies, really genius. I LOVE RAY ❤ for many years, so handsome still today and with that quick mind of his, so lovable, creative, serious, gracious and soooo funny. I LOVE HIS INTERVIEWS ❤💋
My mother and loved his record. Running bear. We use to play it lots of time back in the late 1950.s. Still have the record, even my children grew up having to hear that record. Still love it along lots of his other songs. He is one year younger than me.
Remember when he had a summer variety show on NBC to replace Andy Williams when he took a summer off. Ray always sang that classic. MY sister wrote a letter to Ray and still has the signed autograph.
Good ol Ralph Emery, seems like they were good friends, a very comfortable interview. Ray is a wonderful guy and his music is so fun to listen to! Ray looks very good here!
Unequaled entertainer, musician, poet and what else⁉️ His humor never fails incorporated with the brilliance of the music he uses to make it all work together too entertain his admirers‼️🤗 There will never be another Ray Stevens - ever. He is nonpareil.
I think it's a real shame that more people haven't viewed this video. This is a great piece of Americana. It's very interesting as well as most entertaining.
I still have his tape with the "Shriner's Convention" in my 2000 Ford F250. Nothing else in the yard has an audio cassette player in it! One of the things that's always made me laugh at Ray's stuff is that he is actually a fine pianist and a very good singer. I don't remember which song it was but it's on that tape also. There's a beautiful piano part that he plays and the vocal is very smooth. It's a really nice song... right up to the very last phrase and then he slips in the "zinger." I came to the conclusion that you just can't ever forget, there's always a zinger at the end!! 😊😊
At long last!!! There's another video on-line from the same venue and it's played like an updated version of "Nashville Now" and Ray happens to be one of the guests.
A great artist. My favorite song he wrote and sang when I was in gradeschool wasnt discussed here, but I identified closely with was Funny Man. I had dyslexia and didnt do well in school so ,becoming a class clown was a way for me.
Thank you men for this video. 👍 Ray Love you man maybe I will get a chance to meet you in the Life to come . Everything is beautiful in its own way. I remember King David dancing once and he streaked believe it or nor not. Lol
I really like Ray Stevrnscbutbthisciscthe dumbest interviewer ever. Replace him with someone who knows how to ask questions. What time did your piano teacher arrive is just stupid. Others in the same category.
Ray. There is a friend........ You need to meet. I'm a handyman he's a realtor. Small town Minnesota, but between me n him............ Listening to your funny songs for 30 years, gotta hear some of our ideas.
My favorite part around the 46:00 mark when Ralph Emery asks about why Ray's song out performed the others and Ray responds, "I think it was a far superior recording."
Hey ray just come to Africa to visit, i can even get you with a camle as we have them walk past the house and i know the owners. lol Wtf you mean police these days dont know you? we need to fix that.
