Low-key its actually impressive that he uploads every day and at that loses hundreds sometimes thousands of dollars to make a videos. Also dude has never took a sponsorship. That's very tippable
But you did care about card price… The reason Charizard was so sought after was because of its higher intrinsic value. That value was based on scarcity relative to demand. Same as now. You’re just old enough to quantify that value now.
@@yusuf8938doesn't even matter if it's pack fresh, they base grading on centering, the margins, even rubbing against other cards in the pack can leave some scuff marks that won't make it a 10.
The fact that the shop owner is holding it and saying these things was cringe . Like if you wanted to get it graded isn't there a "process" .. I'd like to have full conversation with the guys I talk to about my moldy cards 😅
@@richardmerlau4926has good Pokémon card content, has a good community and does bi weekly box break streams you can buy in on for fun. Also has actual legitimate giveaways (I’ve won two over the years, one being a brilliant star booster box and another being a pokerev pack that had a base set black and white inside) all in all a fun guy, you should check him out if you like card content and high energy reactions
I don't think I have I just saw a card I have if it's still in good condition is worth about 80 buck and I was like well crud I wish I sleeved it and stored it in a box
You mean you’re 0% sure they’re fair and they sure do give the customer the GameStop treatment 100%. I’ve been to several shops in my life and I can safely say 1 was fair on trade in (60% of market value) and sold based on market price
The hit on collectors who over-value their cards lol. It's nothing compared to the shops that overvalue pretty much everything in their store. I bet there isn't a price sticker on anything in that shop. And that's how you know.
well u can always sell a card to a card shop for its worth, they are gonna resell it for more so you do get the good end of the stick if your the one selling ur cards, then if u wanna collect or finish a deck thats where the money is spent
@@salvadorosorio4975 I've heard of shops selling lower, but none in my area do, because they have high turn over. The issue with shops is that they can end up with cards for weeks/months, and in that time things change, especially when a new set releases and the meta changes. It's not uncommon for a lot of cards to tank in price when they become unplayable in competitive play and/or the demand for them drops. In a lot of cases, the valuable new cards are falsely inflated due to competitive play, which crashes once the meta changes. But yea, don't ever sell cards to shops. It's like taking a new car to the scrap yard to sell as scrap metal. You're much better off paying 10-12% in fees selling them on TCGplayer + the cost of a stamp.
Okay true there is always that one guy but I’ve had experiences with game stores offering 40 dollars for my entire binder, when I had 4 copies of an 80 dollar card in the first slot (9 slots per page, about 30 pages full of cards, minimum card price on TCGplayer 10$ ). I play mtg so I’m not sure how it lines up in the pokemon world but some stores will definitely try to take advantage of you, choosing greed over a reasonable price.
As an assistant manager at an LGS… this hits my core, and sometimes it’s kids who don’t know better and we help show them TCGPlayer n stuff, but when it’s adults I wanna just tell them to leave. Stop waisting my time.
To be completely transparent. Even the best of the best card shops are thieves. Even if actual value is in the binder, let's say a $60 card, the most they'd do is 50%-60%, or in this case, trade towards a card you want, they'll do a "special" of 70% of your trade value towards the card.
Thieves? Card shops have bills to pay and owners have to sacrifice their entire career to keep that shop open. Do you know how business and profits work?
Every time a kid tries to trade me at a card show. They will pick out an $80 card then show me their trade binder with damagaed and played reverse holos...
What really pisses me off is when you go to sell your cards at an LGS and they offer you like 30% of the cards value and that seems to be the norm in Colorado cause I’ve been to a ton of shops here in my state and they all operate the same. And then they make you feel like a piece of shit when you want 80% of the cards value. I recently tried selling my mint rainbow rare pikachu from vivid voltage and the card shop only offer me $30 🙄
I deal with this every day. Some guy thought basic energy cards from evokving skies were worth $20 each. He said he would take them to someone who knows what they are talking about when I told him I wouldn't even pay a penny for them.
This is so true.once i was really desperate for a card for my collection of illustration rares and the person i was trading with kept asking me to trade my most expensive cards for it
damn, this video humbled me and my collection of cards. i’ve got a binder full and keep saying i can sell it for $500 ez, but i’m second guessing myself
I work at a small town card shop and the amount of parents bringing in their kids to trade in something like a charizard because they saw one on facebook for like $500 not realizing that one and the one they got from Walmart the other day are not the same card let alone from the same set is both mind-numbing and heartbreaking at the same time.
I notice people do that at my card local and its generally annoying to see that. Then when you remind them that "Okay.... the card is nice but its not expensive".... they get offended and leave. Would you rather have good cards in your binder... the kind of cards that are hard to find and are expensive... or cards that anyone can just buy for a dollar or less?
Some of the videos be cringy but this one got me lmao I just started collecting I feel like this one about me I got half of those vCards in my binder as we speak😂😂😂
Every seller does this. They want more than their worth but only wants to pay like 30 percent of what they're worth. Just like the store you're in and like you on selling on RU-vid.
