Love how you are with Porter. Involving him in the kitchen ♡ helps them learn and grow helps them be more in the moment ! Your videos are so amazing and I love seeing how much you have acheived while still staying humble and beautiful ♡thankyou so much for including us in your life journey ♡

From my experience with 2 daycare kiddos, every winter is just bad in general. But yeah I’d say the first 6 months are the worst. Once spring time rolls around he’ll stop picking up so many bugs, surely 💗

You are literally so beautiful!! Don’t get caught up in the milestones, my girl didn’t walk or talk til after 18 months (and I was so upset it was unreal, I just knew something was wrong) and she’s a healthy happy 7 year old now! (Her bday was June 16th! ☺️) I got SO upset because I had help come to my house (physical and talk therapy) come and try to help her. Them babies just do it when their ready! Porter seems like a perfectly happy baby, he may be ahead or behind other babies but he seems perfectly fine from an outsider looking in! Shan, just know, when my daughter was his age, I went through the same stage as you, I didn’t want to go out, didn’t want to do nothing with myself, I felt like I was adjusting to life as much as my kid was BUT it does get easier and you slowly learn to run with the flow of things! I 100% don’t want to discourage you or make you worry, but my daughter is 7 and just finished kindergarten. I put her in daycare at 5 to socialize and get use to school and being around other kids and being away from home and she STILL gets sick constantly. I tell you this to prepare you not scare you! He may still get sick quite often, but he’ll depend on you less and less. And that is such a bittersweet time! It’s crazy to think and believe but you’ll miss his neediness and probably sooner then you think, at least that’s what I fount out with my daughter! I know it’s so hard right now but you’ll miss it lol I’ve never thought you were complaining and the people who think that can wholeheartedly FUCK OFF! Being a parent is HARD, especially when it’s your only and first child. I pray for you and hamish to get a little break because I can tell your exhausted. Just know you guys are kicking fucking ass right now! And I’m so happy your family has each other! I just totally rambled but 😂😂❤❤❤

I totally understand that makeup makes you (Shaan) feel better because you enjoy it, not because of self-importance etc. I don't feel like myself unless i spend time on my creative crafty interests.

I don't want to put a downer on the 6 month thing, but it took us closer to a year. My toddler was about 2ish when I finally felt like we weren't sick every single week. Still gets sick but it's shorter duration and slightly less frequent. But really it depends on your baby. And also have to remember every time he has been sick he is strengthening his immune response for the future. So I wish you all the best, it's a truly horrendous season 🤢

I soooo get when you talk about doing things like hair and makeup just to make yourself feel better about yourself it really does do something to the inner confidence in you, even when we already know we are still beautiful without the makeup etc! People need to understand we don’t do it for the sake of looking good for others we do it to pick us up and help us to feel a little better about ourselves 🥰

Hey lovely, unfortunately daycares are always full of sickness. I’ve have four kids eldest 13 and youngest just turned 3 and currently in daycare and every other week has another bad cough, snooty nose, bug, or just completely under the weather. I have some friends who couldn’t stand how much their kids would get sick and then have to take time off work so they ended up finding family home daycares and the children really loved it 🥰 and would hardly ever get sick.

My Girls are teens now but I wish I trusted my gut more when they were Babies, especiallywhen I felt they were sick. Your instincts about his teething and needing that time at home over daycare sounds spot on to me. He looks lovely and healthy, you are doing a great job 🙂

My best friend has is going through same thing catching constant bugs at daycare, gastro, flu, virus, bugs of all kinds, reeling from one sickness to next exhausting and overwhelming, teething too, lack of sleep, no recharge or recovery for body or mind, then her oldest got covid, sending healing and positive vibes🤗🧚‍♀️💐

Love this and yesterdays video - sooo relatable, thank you ☺️! Our 18 month old started kindy in Nov and has had some virus or other nearly every week since - it’s exhausting 😫! Hoping it gets better soon 🤞. I also feel so much better after a good pamper and make up session 😊 pls don’t apologise for promoting your brand - the products are fab and totally deserve it 💕. Hope you feel better soon and you get a break from the 🦠!

my daughter will be grumpy and tantrumy at home. soon as we g et to daycare she runs to her favourite teacher and gives her a huge hug and has the best day ever lol. we are also being hit with every single illness in the entire universe. its driving me madddd.

make sure youre getting your vitamin D and B12 it'll help. My dr said youre less likely to get sick if youre taking it and more likely to get sick if youre low.

I think for illness at daycare, things improve when their older because when they're bigger they're more resilient. I think around 18months to 2 years old. You still get illness but it doesn't hit them or you as hard. Have also found some daycare are better than others too, move my daughter and after being sick every two weeks for a year non stop everything stopped. At my current daycare for my twin boys they won't accept sick kids and it makes such a huge difference.

For my little girl she’s got sick whenever there was a bug that goes around to the point I’ve now taken her out and I’m now working from home now online. If you ever need anything Ie just a chat with a lady or are needing porter looked after so you still have routine for work happy to help :).xx I’m in P North :)

It’s a rough time when they start daycare. You’ll get through it and you’re already halfway through the rough bit! They do taper down eating after one because of teething and their growth slowing, it’s totally normal they grow so much in the first year but their tummies are only the size of their own fist, as they get older they technically are eating more it’s just that it’s in less sittings. You’re doing a great job!

Totally relate to needing to making yourself feel better inside by taking care of your outer appearance. I broke my knee two months ago and life changed so suddenly for me. I stopped everything I did prior. I finally started getting back into taking care of myself better and it felt so nice to have a self care day. ❤ you’re doing your best and that’s all that matters ❤❤❤❤

Shannon!!! I have been watching you since I was 20. I’m 30 now and it is absolutely crazy to see you having a baby. My daughter turns 2 and everytime I watch you I feel like I am not alone. You’ve stayed the same but better, it that makes any sense. You talking to Porter cracked me up ❤! Also, how are your dogs cleaner than me, sitting on those sparkly white blankets 😂

My baby boy is 16 now, but you had me going down memory lane. It will get easier, and some things will get harder, but at the end of it all, we don't get to keep them forever. I'm dealing with that realization now, and I'm embracing and holding on to every single moment. My baby is really not a baby anymore, and in a few short years, I will have to let him go.

Mom of 6 Grammy of 5 here. And I honestly don't believe it's the time, but how susceptible is the child (and parent!)? I watched my neice at a month old for a year. My brother and SIL are teachers. The following year she and her newborn sister went into daycare. After a few months, my brother called and ásked if I could watch them again as they were always getting sick. The oldest had 6 ear infections and was becoming deaf in one ear! The younger suffered from reflux and cried all day! Of course I took over! They were healthy the rest of the school year. My husband and I worked opposite shifts so that we were able to care for our children at home. I know this isn't an option for you, but what if you hired a nanny to come in the 3 or 4 days a week to solely watch Porter? I've seen it work every time and the parents and child are so much happier and healthier. He's got 12+ years to be social and in school. He will also have built up stronger immunities. I'm not saying that every beginning of school year, my children didn't come home with colds & stomach bugs because they did, but it was much less frequent and much less severe than what you're going thru. I hope I've given you a different perspective to think about. I also hope that you and your family have a much healthier and more blessed future! ❤

day care is horrible never again we decided on a home nanny for the few hours that we needed her around to take care of the kids while we worked and it has been great no more sick baby and scratched kids. i have a peace of mind

Didn’t realise how much I missed your vlogs ❤ love seeing you be the amazing mumma you are to porter he is so cute 🥰 such a beautiful mix of the both of you ❤ My 1st bub he didn’t even let me know he was teething or anything he was totally unfazed by it and he always slept through from about 4ish months old but then my 2nd she was going through it and would wake about 2-5 times a night up until about 2-2 1/2 years old so just all bubbas are different and you’re doing amazing and porter seems like the happiest boy so you’re definitely doing all the right things mumma ❤️

They say 6 months and it does get a little bit better. We get smashed with viruses every winter but not as bad as when they first start 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I'm not going to lie it can be rough for a couple of winters. You do get a break over the warmer months. I've got an almost 4 and 5 year old (19m apart). The first daycare winter was definitely the worst, second not fab but OK, then 3rd they got sick but weren't too sick or hard work. Unfortunately you can't dodge it. If they don't get exposure now then they get it when they get to school anyway. My 5 year old has a super strong immune system now and only gets sick if it's a brutal virus he's not come across before and even then doesn't get too bad usually. It is exhausting though. You wish the years away waiting for it to get better then feel sad that the time went so quick.

Won’t be till October, you need weather to dry up. Change of season is required. This is coming from a mum of 3. We have all been there. You have to look after your health to keep up your immunity.

Self care for me is also making myself look and feel good. Getting myself together after a bad low, is the best feeling ever. So so glad that reset helped you. 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

After our kiddo started daycare it was 8ish months and it calmed WAY down.

I’m sorry I haven’t been on for quite a while, I lost my mom a couple months ago and it’s been hard. I was a nanny for many years and we always used frozen bagels for teething babies. Now they say after eight months you can give them frozen bananas and bagels but only in bite-size pieces, sitting upright at their high chair. We also used frozen wash rags and those work wonderfully. Also I think it’s crazy that someone does not warn us that when babies start any kind of school that we all will be so sick that we feel like being healthy will never come again and there is nothing sadder than a sick baby, my heart just swells when you see those little sad eyes and you just want to make it all better.

Realistically Shannon I’d say it’s more like a year. I’ve got 3 young kids in childcare and I can totally relate. It was genuinely the worst time of my life. Now I am so incredibly happy so it definitely gets better, hang in there ❤

I wouldn't get worried about milestones your kids do what they want when they want. All kids do things when they are ready

hun my grandson started daycare in Aus and everytime i rung he was sick i swear he caught everything i didnt get it my kids didnt get so sick i truly think covid lockdown left our babies with no immunity and when they start daycare everything going hits Hunter was sick alot for around 6 mnths hang in there as soon as the seasons start to change you will get a reprieve x

I would love to say it gets better. But they get older and get new germs. My kids are 13, 8,6 and 4. I still get sick because of them lol. The two times my household had covid was because my kids brought it home from school lol. I just got over a horrible case of strep throat, also from my school aged kids.

We put my nephew in daycare and he has been there a good 10 months ( his mom and him live with me)... We are always sick! Once we all get over something, we come down with something else! daycare is so good for him socially, but God I miss breathing through my nose!

2nd comment but also my kiddies never went to daycare but since my oldest started primary school every winter it’s pretty much the worst, they don’t get as sick now because we’re on time with flu shots and think their immune system is better now but the colds come and go constant through winter and we’re in north Qld Australia 😂 doesn’t really get that cold here either

My nephew is in daycare and our doctor said 5 years for my sister. Your baby looks absolutely adorable. He's like your twin soooooooo cute.

My baby started daycare at 3 yrs old and he was literally sick every week the whole first year.. Its a bit better now the second year but he is still sick pretty often 🤦🏼‍♀️

It will get better by Spring/summer. Then when winter comes around again it all turns to shit again lol. Even now my 6 year old who was in daycare from a baby has been non stop sick. Alot easier when they can just watch tv all day though 😂

I work for a pediatrician and the truth is we see some kiddos for a year straight of on and off illness when they start school/daycare. Just remember a couple of things, 1. This is totally normal 2. His body is building immunity that will last him the rest of his life. 🩵 I’m sorry you’re having such a rough go if it. I still love seeing your vlogs regardless of what content is in them

I'm so sorry to tell you, but for us it was at 4 years old that both my boys finally gained some kind of immunity. There's just so many viruses they have to circulate through before they have their baseline immunity up to par. Sorry, I realise that is so depressing!

I feel like my kids went almost a year sick all the time. Then nothing. My kids had migraines real bad tho. I was constantly at the school for that.

Ur son isn't behind. He's only a year old. My grandson didn't talk alot until he was almost 3. And now he surpasses other kids in school. Don't worry that he's not saying enough he's fine

I know you probably don't want to film playtime with P and stuff. but I really need to know what to do to keep my 9month old busy. I let her play on the floor, but that doesn't last long then she starts moaning and crying. I let her play on the bed with us, that also doesn't last long before tears start. we bought her a ball pit... she's not interested anymore. we buy her new toys every chance we get. she loses interest so fast and she gets so miserable when she doesn't know what to do. 😂 I'm starting to feel so bad because I really don't know how to entertain her anymore
