Ahoy Fisho's, This week I go in search of giant mackerel by trolling baits. But not just any bait, BIGGGG baits. Big baits = big fish right?
As you will see its a rough start to the trip but, eventually one of the big baits gets eaten in spectacular fashion! I also show you some deep water action with the crew from Wilson Fishing including the capture and cleaning of my PB Bar Cod!

I’ve been holding out for this drop! I’ve recently come to love this channel - I am the furthest from an outdoor person, and I never thought I’d have any interest in fishing or submersing myself in nature, but this guy has gotten me keen to get amongst it and I’ve even bought myself a fishing rod. Such a legend! Epic content that is serving a great message.

Those smaller cudas normally won’t give u ciguatera in fact I got one in the fridge from today lol they’re really good grilled as well nice white and flaky just don’t mess the big ones :)

Sammy you may not believe me but here in South América we make lots of barracuda ceviche, just make sure you get a small Cuda, no bigger than 5 kg to minimize ciguatera risk. Fillet the Cuda and chop it into small cubes, chop some fresh cilantro, chopped red onions, chopped chili peppers (not too hot), fresh chopped mango and some salt and pepper. Don't forget the lime. Try it and write me back letting me know what you think. Trust me I have it it plenty of times and never got sick.

barracuda make great ceveche, the small ones you were catching don't have cig. barracuda smell bad but the meat is clean tasting, medium texture, also good in curry and smoking, bleed them and put straight on ice.

Sammy Sailfish will do that to a wire......they slash with the bill. Had similar runs over and over near Cairns and then once saw them do it. That run not typical of a shark at all they don't just go for it like that...sure U know that!

Bro, next time you catch a cuda keep it for the crab pot... A mate in nz uses them in his Cray pots over there and I've used them in the creeks around the well and always get good muddies.

Couple good handfuls of rock salt will make the slime alot easier to work with mate. Old as trick but one U don't see used much

hay dude listen if u dont have enouph baits for trolling and u catch small barracuda like this almost same size as spanish makarele why u not take 1 of those as bait for K M it's working perfect with me

Your vidz are great but I'm not a fan of electronic reels and drones I'm not a fan off. If you can fight the fish then it deserves to live. Electronic fishing has been banned in SA

I hate barracuda . The scourge of the ocean. We never used to get the down here out of Port Stephen’s . Now they plague the reefs . Never give up 👍🏻

I was offshore with my friend when he was applying sunscreen we were fishing with bait casters trying to have fun on gummys and then the line goes slack and a huge thresher jumped beside the boat and broke the barrings in the reel and then we moved spots after no luck and he lost a 30 kg gummy by the boat

Oh my gosh, losing mackerel baits to small cudas is painful to watch, cero mackerel are some of the finest eating fish in the sea, just eat the baits at that point 😆

If it's any consolation I didn't catch a single mackerel this year here in Coffs, got a new boat in April and thanks to this lovely weather we've been having and crazy work commitments it's only been wet 4 times, for a few snapper and kings.

Yip sammy. Thanks bud. Always love it when I see it's Sunday. Off to mozambique on the 8thto the 28thaug. Being zimbabwe we an inland country. Plenty small boats. Started trying to fix my neighbors jet ski for my trip. Broken conrod. 6weeksfrom states. Too long now I'm downgrading to a kayak. Lols. Anything works. It's going to be beach and kayak. But check the place. Watch the video clip by Jeremy loops. Waves. It's an awesome place. The drop off is 300m off shore on the rocks.

Hey Sammy what is your preference in deep drop baits, should they be big or small or a mix of both? We usually do a4 hooks rig, 3 small hooks/baits and one big hook with a fish head/whole fish. What you reckon?
