That's Not How CTRL + X Works: A Rant

As someone who continuosly use ctrl + x instead of ctrl + c, it just baffles me how wrong chat was 💀💀💀

I was lurking around at this time and I was losing my mind when chat said "oh yeah it must have been Ctrl X" Chat was being so fking dumb and it was the mosy satisfying thing ever seeing tamago proving himself correct

And in the blink of an eye he lost it all

Nah it get me worked up for real. My nephew was deleting all the files in the folder one at a time, so I say press ctrl + A to select them all then delete and this little bugger dares say to me, who has been using computer longer than he is alive, that Ctrl+A is not a thing only Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. Love him most the time but this sh!t gets my blood boils

what i assume happened is that you somehow managed to select the textbox not the actual text, resetting the text and vanquishing paul in the process

I said it during the stream and I'll say it again: this game is pretty buggy, when I finished this, Paul never hatched and was perfectly content eating an arbitrary amount of mailboxes (Wingdings hyphens). In fairness, my winning game was not too long after it's release, but I do also know that exploits are used to get the character count for a valid password lower than theoretically possible.

Software that misbehaving is so annoying. Pressing Home puts the cursor at the start of the line. Holding Ctrl and pressing Home puts the cursor at the start of the whole text Holding shift selects everything from the original position to the new position (at the start of that line weight Ctrl or start of text with Ctrl). In Discord, at least when creating a new thread. Home will instead put the cursor at the start of the whole text. That's only supposed to happen when you hold Ctrl, but Ctrl has no affect on this behaviour. Holding shift doesn't do anything either. It completely ignores Ctrl and Shift and just places the cursor at the start when you press Home.

I have had this happen to me on multiple occasions in my online class, And I _have_ lost points on tests because of it. It's highly infuriating. Due to the comparison, I can only assume it's just because of whatever form of program-simulation they both use.

My assumption is, Paul tried to eat a caterpillar, game tried to delete one character as usual , the game decided to glitch and eat everything BUT the one character you had highlighted. So I'm assuming it's a bug. Code kinda skipped or glitched out.

Ok so what I think actually happened is when you went to paste the caterpillar, you managed to select the password field without actually placing a text cursor within it. Then when you pasted, the behavior defaulted to replacing the _entire contents_ of the field with what was in your clipboard. To see what I mean, go into a word processing software (such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs), make a text box, type stuff in it, copy something in it, select the _edge_ of the text box (such that the scale and rotate options show up), and paste. I'm baffled on how it happened when you clearly clicked between two caterpillars though.

My guess is you managed to click the textbox itself and then Ctrl+V overwrote everything in it. A wilder theory is that paul tried to eat the caterpiller at the precise frame you cut it and the code for updating the text got confused and nuked the whole thing. I hope it's the former and not the latter as that's some next level bad luck.

If you are on mobile(at least on Android), when highliting something, there is a cut option, which is LITERALLY JUST CTRL X! So it baffles me how people wouldn't know that if they were on their phones.

It could either be “Control + Z” or “Control + Click and drag”, but I can’t confirm.
