My theory on the hazmat suits is that while yes, they could be used to not get contaminated by some doppelgängers, I think it is mainly to prevent the doppelgängers from getting a trace of the wearers DNA, and be a preventive measure to stop any of them from copying a D.D.D official
@mistercaleb2857 Very unlikely and comparable to "Stealing a officer uniform" due to all the security measures and not being found outside of the D.D.D HQ, would be a pretty cool twist if they did somehow find an unattended suit though
I think the reason the D.D.D guys are wearing those suits, is that the doppelgangers can't copy what they look like (underneath)- the reason the neighbors will die is because the D.D.D kills doppelgangers, as I'd assume, and they won't listen to the person telling them that they're human, because they are there to "clean up" and not to check- the doorman is.
And the reason they "capture" doppelgangers but "kill" humans is because doppelgangers are not human. Saying "captured" makes it seem like the procedure wasn't painful, and is thus morally good, as doppelgangers are not humans. Saying "killed", though, makes it seem morally bad, since humans are humans. Alternatively, like the Foundation, they could be capturing them for research. The methods of containment may also simply be lethal for humans.
Or, what if the suits are hiding dopplegangers in them? The D D D could be dopplegangers. Let's say humans are being farmed like another comment here said, that could be why they are allowed to walk around normally (as they are guaranteed protection until it's their "turn"). But some dopplegangers could try and sneak into the humans' homes for an early snack. Which would be like theft and illegal. So the D D D arrests (captures) doppleganger tresspassers. But then why kill the humans? Maybe those humans that are out already escaped or missed a curfew, so by breaking the rules, they end the next meal?
The reports on humans killed probably is only known after the fact. The internal anatomy of doppelgängers may be very different, so the D.D.D. doesn’t know for sure until whatever person or thing is cut open.
If we're following game logic, Henry shouldn't be alive after letting dopples inside. I think he prefers to double tap averyone suspicious, including lots and lots of residents. That's why HE'S alive, but not a very good inspector. But that's what we have to deal with.
I was thinking he is a doppelganger himself, so that's why he's bad at his job because he lets both in And the doppelgangers don't attack one another Or!! WE ARE HENRY 😱
I always found it weird that it says Doppelganger are "captured" but the neighbors are "killed". Makes me think the DDD might not actually be the good guys...
@@kaiserlobramonte4098 now ain't that a twist. Doppelgangers secretly rule the world, using us humans as livestocks and culling fellow doppelgangers if they keep screwing up disguises or kill humans for their people to take their place.
What if the player is actually a part of a training facility for doppelgangers to perfect their copying ability? the "normal" humans are the trainers that perfected the ability
Then he wouldn't have been eaten if a dopple ganger gets in ... If you let a doppelganger in you ended up killed yourself too, not only the residents, you can only survive the game if no doppelganger gets in , regardless if neighbours were killed or not
one of the funniest things that can happen is when the entry request says "I am not a doppleganger. I am a normal human with normal human behavior. please let me in to do my normal human activities."
actually, i think one version of Margarette Bubbles has her reason listed as "i am not here to eat anyone. i am going home to make normal human food and eat it like a normal human. please let me through so i can do normal human things" or something like that 😂😂😂
My very first playthrough my first tenet to come to the window was a perfect doppelganger. Face was perfect, he had made the request, paperwork was perfect, he wasn't in his room. All that was missing was the exp date of his id. Then later on the real one comes. I let him in. Then another perfect comes and everything is correct, looks, id, forum, request, only thing not right is that he's at home (since i let him in) Now I'm panicking wondering if the 2nd was real or not. I bite the bullet and call the DDD. Perfect run. That was needlessly difficult and intense for my first run.
@@omori3703 yeah. Part of me was scared to make the call fearing I'd get the screams of the spouse or some eerie messages letting me know how badly I messed up.
@@kamhani7394 I didn't expect it to come out swinging. Usually the first one is always safe so that you know "ok this is what I look for, this is what I do." Nope. You're to be on your toes the moment you finish the training vid.
I also wondered how people went about their normal days. I understand having security guards at every building but being outside then what? I hope the continue with updates.
I imagine this situation has been going on for awhile, so much so that it's become the norm for them, or atleast not bad enough to put off bills/emergencies. They've created some sort of telling system for friends and family. And don't have to worry much about outside attacks, since the Doppelgangers would be taken down quickly, and likely prefer to get their victims alone.
Someone made a theory about how everyone is a doppelganger, including you, that everyone is practicing to make sure they can pass perfectly to blend in with the humans or something.
If this is not training like one of my fellow commenters says then my theory is that the doppelgangers can only eat people if they have been allowed entry like a vampire
I think the same too. I mean why can't the Doppelganger just attack the resident while outside the building doing their jobs? And risk it attacking them at their home with the doorman and DDD watching the entry.
@@KurosanLOVE that or everyone is heavily armed i mean i would be, try biting me and next thing ya know your ass is facing God right as he punched you down to hell
The Idea of _"That's not my Neighbour"_ is Interesting but terrifying, but the Artstyle looks like a Wacky kids show, with all the unique shapes and names of characters, it's a fun concept
@@SadClownAnimations I am looking forward to see the full version of this game. This is going to be one of the most interesting indie games of this year, isn't IT?
the ending question is what came to me, sure i get protecting the apartments from them cause letting them in a confined space is what is going to get everyone killed, but how do people avoid just being outright eaten in the open, if these things are so dangerous that even 1 inside an apartment can get everyone killed then they should be able to rampage through an entire city in a group of a hundred or less.
Maybe these Doppelganger have a rule, an instinct imposed on them. One comment I say suggest they might be acting like vampire, only after you invite them in they're able to feast on you.
It's probably because of how the humans can and will respond to such situation, as seen by the entire existence of the DDD. Besides, possible witnesses could make doppels not want to kill someone out in the open
@@KenshiImmortalWolfYeah but at this point that's all we can stick to until actually confirmed. The game is still in development and for now it's really basic. Just two endings, a straight plotline of "you either die or live" and that's it. I think it's pretty obvious the game will be updated more overtime because the menu shows more than one different mode to play, so for now every theory is valid until more lore (if the creator will add lore) gets out. The game haves a basic mode which is pretty much a "Demo" of the general concept of the game and to learn how it works and people believe that the "we are not expecting any visitors" means that in later updates visitors who do not live in the building will be a thing. Kinda see this game as 60 Seconds rather than Paper Please. This is probably what's going to happen with this game as well and for now it won't reveal the lore until it's actually all out with all the other versions of the game. This is more like a demo where we only have an Arcade version.
I swear GamerSault if I ever create a horror game, Imma leave half the details out. You are SO good at putting the viewers into the perspective of the player that, most people who have player this game will never understand the phycological toll it has on the player without you.
So small baseless theory, the DDD person we see when shudders rise is the doppelganger you caught, calling DDD does nothing, how else would they be so fast, this way the doppelganger can safetly leave after being caught and know doppelganger caught
I was also wondering how people just go outside like it's no big deal, despite the doppelgangers. My guess is, they can only attack at night. Or there are armed guards everywhere that would immediately shoot anyone that transforms into their combat form.
Theres a lot of unexplained plotholes in the game that I do hope for answers to eventually. Specifically how the waiting cue works without people being harmed and do doppelgangers target single homes?
The waiting cue might also use a security door system. And since doppels seem to like killing and eating people, I'd assume they do target single homes. But given how severe the situation seems, single homes either have security systems or don't exist whatsoever
My Theory is that there is only actually 1 Doppelganger who turns into the Hazmat Suit guy to get you to reset the room. And can't it might have supernatural reasons why it can't go in on its own it needs a Dorman to let it in like a vampire. Then once invited in they don't need to do that for individual apartments. The doppelganger or a group of Doublegangers are actually the DDD who set this system up with Doormen who will let them inside the building to kill/eat everyone and then hire inexperienced workers who will undoubtedly mess up with no reason to draw suspicion to the DDD. Each Doppelganger has a building they get and if they are found out the shutters drop down so you can't see them change into a Hazmat suit who conveniently say that the Doppelganger has been capture. Any humans that die are just more food for them. Then let new people move in and hire a new Doorman once the Building is restocked up with people for them to kill. Just think that when a Doppelganger is discovered they don't run away, beg for their life, or even seem concerned with dying but break character in frustration clearly mad with someone that is competent. Its all an elaborate set up that keeps Doppelgangers fed and You the player are an anomaly that will eventually starve them to death.
My theory is that the DDD is already controlled by Doppelgangers. Whenever a Doppelganger is caught, the DDD will come in and take the Doppelganger away, but if a human is caught instead, they are killed. This also explains how so many Doppelgangers have ID and entry requests that bear the DDD logo. Additionally, because the DDD are only seen in Hazmat suits, it gives them the ability to conceal their true nature. If this is true, then it means that the DDD's main goal is to train their Doppelgangers to be better and if a Doppelganger is able to enter the building anyway, they still get to kill humans. However, the other theory is that the DDD is a program by the government to weaponize Doppelgangers by training them so that they can infiltrate enemy nations. Has anyone also noticed that the DDD stands for Doppelganger Dectection Department? It didn't say "Doppelganger Extermination Department", implying that the DDD is a Department to catch any Doppelgangers that are not good enough. Last of all, the DDD Introduction video made a mistake of typing "Isn't" as "is'nt" and only Doppelgangers make spelling errors in this game.
Suggestion for what to cover next : the upturned (it's technically a horror game even if ots more lighthearted then horror) with some pretty nice tied up lore along with a bit of room for speculation along with it being relatively short would be a good video
The game is fun and interesting. The world adapted to these creatures existing, that they have special forces to deal with the doppelgängers. Peach Peach is a classic XD And can you please review the game Parsnip?
I believe that when you press the emergency button you already capture a doppel or kill a human. We know doppel can kill tens of ppl easily so it's not absurd to think the method they use to kill or sedate one would kill a human. Like we press the button the room gets flooded with a gas that would require normal human hazmat suits to survive , ddd cleans up the scene . If doppel were so toxic by themselves and were among us to the point ddd is a thing and protocols enstablisced, people would not be able to go do their daily jobs , society would not have that kind of everyday life
The D.D.D is from the backrooms, Roman *Stinky* is a minecraft villager and you are a doppelgänger yourself Edit: oh and the hoon milkman went straight from smiling critters
I believe the doppelgangers are weaker than a regular human, that's why they don't just attack people out in the streets. A frontal confrontation is out of the question - as even the elderly or a schoolgirl can go through their day unbothered. But when the doppelgangers strike at opportune times, for example when people are asleep, that's when they can win. So they use subterfuge instead of hunting people out in the streets.
i play this game and as far as i know, overthinkers will not be letting any doppelgangers in. it basically means that i sit there for half an hour contemplating if that's a human or a doppel because i'm scared to make a mistake
Your theory about the doppelgängers eating people and also wanting to farm them is pretty out of the blue given that there’s no Implication of this whatsoever in the games. It seems more plausible that they just want to kill all humanity and possibly replace them.
I think doppelgangers are actually pretty weak and thus can't attack humans up front so they try to get into the houses to backstab them. Maybe they also grow stronger with every human eaten so it's extremely terrible to let them in
When I caught a doppelgänger by calling it's apartment number it go mad at me, but what seriously freaked me out is that after it said some random Disney movie villain ahh lines, the one line that for some reason scared the holy shi out of me was the "You're not easy to fool, but that just makes me want to devour you even more..." line (I'm not sure if I quoted it correctly but yeah it was somethkng somilar to that) 😭🔥
The D.D.D. is not our ally, guys. In the instruction videos, there are a few grammar and spelling mistakes like "is'nt" The doppelgangers get captured, while the humans get killed when teported to the D.D.D.
I think the reason people can go about their normal duties without being killed by dopplegangers outright is because the dopplegangers are trying to fit into society, and also since they are imitating humans it’s probably impossible for them to discern other dopplegangers from normal humans. So they go to places that they know are only going to be inhabited by human people, i.e. residential areas that are heavily guarded against dopplegangers.
Theory: the doppelgangers arent actually killed and DDD is a company set up by the aliens that tests whether the doppelgangers should do better. You never see the true nature of the DDD staff cause theyre actually aliens
I wonder if, instead of the dopplegangers having some contaminants or disease, its to hide the D.D.D workers identity. We can see that the dopplegangers have the ability to morph at will once they get good at it. It could be that the Dopplegangers can duplicate bodies but not clothes thus keeping the D.D.D officers safe while they get rid of the dopples
Oh, that's a good theory!!! :0 I would be terrified of living in a world that has doppelganger out to kill me 😭 My paranoid ass wouldn't be able to sleep at night...
Its ironic how Kirby becomes a Doppler when he eats his enemies, and maybe dede is just trying to stop him, maybe dede is normal, and Kirby's the alien. Yeah I know he's the avatar and reincarnation of happiness and bla bla, but maybe this games a fun spin on it
This game is freaking awesome and it'll be more cooler if the lore is in depth like how and when Doppelgangers appear, what is exactly DDD is, and other stuffs to make the story complete...
here is my summery of the theory of the origin of thats not my neighbor. The doorman (lets call him mr smith) is a american protester who moved to japan in protest in the year 1943. He was sent to the army in which he had ptsd of the memories of the sound of artillery and the rhirst of lack of water. He faced a near death experience around noon of march 31st. He then returned home to nagasaki in 1944. While he was there, he heard about hitlers horrible experiments on the radio. He got afraid that hirohito would do the same to him. Then, on august 9th 1945, while smith was in the basement, I huge bang was heard by him. Little did he know this was the atomic bomb. A horrible stench entered the basement, which provoked him to put on the gas mask he bought from a scammer. he stepped out and all he could see was flames. All he could here was screams. Cut to 1954, smith is going to see the godzila movie. After seeing it, he gets extreme anxiety and ptsd. Out of fear of mutants, he moves to berlin and finds a job as the doorman he is today. From the ptsd, he gets reacurring nightmares. He gets ptsd from the dopplagangers being simaler to mutants of radiation. And he gets ptsd from the ddd phone number. 3312. Which in our age stands for march 31st. That one horrible day. Eventually, smith moves past this and finally dies at the age of 70. I would like to add something to this theory. The hooded figure incident takes place in 1957, as smith as working his daily like, the hooded figure comes. His backstory also includes surviving the bombing of hiroshima, he to has ptsd, which is why he tells smith to not trust the ddd. This sparked a friendship between the two which remained for the rest of there lives. finally, I would also like add another part of the theory. Later on in life, smith himself joins the ddd. But rather then side with them, he slowly kills members of the ddd in portest, the hooded man also joins and teams up with smith to begin a resistance alliance agenct the ddd. Eventually, they succed and smith retires along with the hooded figure. @gamersault, what do you think of my theory? plaease reply.
5:00 I don't think they're extraterrestrial necasarily, maybe demons or angels or some ancient monsters or mutents or magic. Not everything that wants to conquer earth is an alien.
My theory: all neighbor including the ddd agent are Doppelganger Cause: the way they talk are wired they do not talk proply Theory 2: ddd foundation are the one who behind these Doppelganger Cause: when you report a Doppelgangers they did it very fast there is no blood or dead body around Theory 3: ddd actually are lying us about Doppelganger is a alien Cause: if you play nightmare mode in thats not my neighbor you might encounter a strange man with a black coat he will give us a paper with the word"dont trust them" with a logo ddd get cross and some wired code
The game is very cool, but I never understood it One thing: to enter you have to cross the street, but don't normal people notice if someone has three eyes or no nose?
