You should have got the 39” guitar instead Landon. I bought one back in Feb. 2021 for $159.99 total, no shipping and no taxes. It’s light, no sharp frets, actually stays in tune pretty good. Pickups aren’t the best sounding, but for the price, I’m not complaining. And yes, I’m in Canada too, from Saskatoon. Also the 39” Telecaster does indeed have 22 frets.
A have a black and white LyxPro strat which I cheerfully call "Clapton". It's ok, but required quite some maintenance... I had to replace the saddles and string trees, oil the fretboard, polish and file the frets - that sprout more than Brussel sprouts in the Netherlands and do a complete setup. If anything it was a great platform for me to learn how to properly set up and maintain my guitars 😀
Not a meme, not a clickbait, just Landon being himself. Funny thing is that Paulownia is super light and consistent in weight, but easy to scratch and dent, so the Fender Brad Paisley Tele sandwiches it with a layer of Spruce on either end. This guitar is perfect size for Bea to play with. Maybe fetch ? You know, you and Josh from JHS could host a deadpan hour of guitar conversation. You seem to share some humor DNA :P
ok I love this! I've been watching your stuff for a while now, I got my first left handed Squire Tele based on some of your videos and tbh wanted to get my son one but he's 12, this looks ideal to me! Thanks for the content Landon, really appreciate what you do!
You gotta love it when marketing people place copy where absolutely none is required. In fact, it’s better that there isn’t any. At all. “Convenient sound port”.
I've learned getting the cheap ones, especially acoustics, they don't always look the same as the photo. Normally pick guard and sound hole designs or headstocks are just different designs than shown in the photos.
I am not an amateur, professional or 'rock star' guitarist. Sadly this means the LyxPro 30" is not for me. I will have to experience it vicariously through this video. Thank you!!
I'm amazed the tuners are OK. They really suck on the Squier Mini. Bonus - you have sharp fret ends and unpolished frets. What better instrument to learn on basic maintenance on!
I actually wanted to buy one of these because ever since I retired playing guitar and becoming minimalist, I think having mini electric guitar that I can play riffs for fun, won’t hurt.
Jul 18, 2019, I bought this Mugig Electric Guitar, 39 Inches, ST Type Bass Guitar, with One 10ft... $47.99 It is still one of my favorite guitars. I doubt if I'll ever find a better deal! Great video, Landon, love your channel
I have 2 Lyx Pro telecaster guitars (30 inch). I got them for my daughter. I own, counting those 2, 6 Telecaster. 1 Fender, 2 Harley Bentons and one handmade custom. The reason I know it was hand Crafted is I'm also a builder and it was one of my early builds. The two Lyx Pros are incredible. Once broken in it holds a tune. I got both of mine for $79.00. Actually I got them both for free. Actually I got a $10.00 gift card. That's a different story.
Amazon has totally changed what I ordered right as it ships out. They make it look like your getting what you ordered at the time buy it but, whenever they gather it to ship it out to you somehow the order changes instantly. It is at if that whomever is loading the order to be shipped runs a SKU of what they CHOOSE to send you and it automatically adjusts your Amazon page to reflect what they CHOOSE to send you. They want you to think as if you made the mistake ... not them. Maybe they do that to try to get rid of the similar item that is not selling well vs. the popular item everybody does buy to open more stock room? I've had this happen twice with food items this year and twice with electronic items?
The plastic control plate is a 'special' design feature. Those who live in the tropics typically seek out guitars with such desirable features to avoid corrosion issues. I suspect this guitar was sold in the wrong market as clearly Canadians don't appreciate such well thought out design features. Not to mention the wood of choice Paulonia, which is a weedy species in many countries (true), has unusually very small pores (stomatas), so that in locations with high humidity, (again sold in the wrong market), reduces the risk of wood expansion (high humidity) & contraction & eventual damage to the guitar. So, I'd suggest this guitar was cleverly designed, unfortunately the critical design elements were not appreciated by this Canadian reviewer. C'mon Landon your research department, away on Easter break, is no excuse for this misguided review. 'We' all expect more from you! 🤔 Title should have been... Killer guitar for the 5 year old shredders. 👏 Fine print (in the tropics)
I played a lyx bass at a friends jam sesh when I forgot my own. Its “bad” but if you want to play music get one. Or smthn similarly priced. Youll still improve and have fun
Why would you think it was a 30" scale? A typical guitar scale length is approximately 25 inches, give or take about an inch or two for longer and shorter scale guitars. You must have been thinking about a smaller bass. A typical bass scale length is 34 inches. Short scale basses are approximately 30 inches in scale length, plus or minus about an inch.
Sorry, I just re-watched the video and I saw the picture that shows the entire length of the guitar is 30 inches. I missed that the first time. If I had noticed that, I would've known that the guitar was tiny.
It's great for gigs! It's so cu....custom, that it is cut....down, and the c...color, it's so c..cuddly, I didn't say cutie! Darn!!😮 OK It's cutie! 😅 thanks Landon
That's kinda cool. I love a short scale guitar, I have all three of the Mitchell brand (sold by GC and MF in the US). This is one I don't have, a Tele! I want, I want. LOL
Definitely a good kids guitar. But for a little more, you can get an entry level Squire, or Epi, which to me are both "value overload" brands. Those big boys need to be careful not to put themselves out of business, once people realize that all the marketing hype is nothing more then dreams for cash.
It still kinda has that twang, lol! I think The Mitchell MM100 is a better deal in a traveler. Only about $125 and clean as a whistle. Comparable to the Ibenez Gio-mikro only It's more like if Schecter made a mini Omen. Mine has a really nicely grained fretboard with uniformly beveled frets ends. Only thing I don't like is the plastic nut which binds the strings and makes tuning a hassle.
The MM100 I came across was almost good. The electronics/grounding was the downfall. They attempted to ground the strings through the bridge, but the bridge is painted black at every level, which breaks continuity, thus no ground and lots of buzz, until you scrape off paint between saddles, screws, bridge, and bridge posts. Big PITA. They also put copper tape on the control cavity cover, nice, but forgot to ground the copper tape, not nice. This is worse than no tape at all, it acts like a buzz antenna. The cool recessed output jack is a classy idea, but is a cheap part that became intermittent after a few months. Needed replacement. It's a pity, because the neck/body/overall feel are really nice.
How cute! Did you rip that guitar off of one of the Lollipop Kids from the Wizard of OZ?! Perfect dwarf’s guitar! Great for picking all those mini lick’s! Did it come with mini guitar picks as well? Lyks mini pro for your smaller than average player who wants to “style” pro size!😂❤💕😝🎸👍✌️👋
Made in China takes on a whole different meaning when it comes to guitars. These people work their factory jobs for decades on end, perfecting their crafts, as opposed to the American drunk, who has a buddy working for Gibson who gets him a temporary job. Folks. Buy with your common sense, not your egos.
I was 100% sure that you were a Canadian just by your humour. You're fun and very entertaining. I been learning how to play guitar for 2 years now. What do you think of the Donner guitars? I been wanting to buy and play one but are they any good?
The gloves are a clear sign of the procrasturbating about why the box is so small and whether or not to open the box and potentially be very disappointed. The boxes that my hofner shorties came in were a lot bigger that that box, despite the guitars being smaller.
Theres 2 options when buying, 30'' and 39" i think, misleading since they only add the pictures of the big one and when you check the page the price u get is for the little one
Funny vid. Could be a cute travel guitar. Too big a neck for kids. But it's a deceptive Amazon webpage with a title saying 'full size body' for both the 30" and 39" versions. Many people could miss the important distinction since they don't know about smaller guitar sizes.
A video like this is good for that exact reason, to see what actually ships. Man that is one small guitar. I thought my Baby Martin was small. You can buy Subway sandwiches that are bigger than this guitar. Forget the guitar, I want one of those purple chairs in the picture!
Might be a good first instrument if you have a six year old who seems interested in playing guitar but if they manage to stick with it til they are seven you might want to upgrade to something a bit better.
Hey! I lost ability to reach frets 1 to 3 due to a shoulder injury in a motorcycle crash and need a short scale/travel guitar till surgical repair. ( 6mo -2 yrs?) Could you give some opinion whether this is worthy of upgrade as a travel guitar? Is the truss rod functional? Is the bridge good? Is the tuning stable? etc? Thanks
Its says 30" (" means inches) a very common abbreviation for size, although i can see why guitarist may not be familiar as this is more of an engineering term. I dont think it was an intentional scam personally.
looked at the reviews and all the pictures show that it's normal sized! want to buy one but don't want to accidentally get a normal sized guitar i want the tiny guitar.
I would argue that you should have known when you saw the length was 30” for a guitar that commonly has a scale length of 25.5”. That leaves 4.5” left. Its a bit misleading yea, but not entirely false advertising from a legal standpoint in my perspective
@@landonbailey well what is the scale length? I also bring this up because a tele is often a total of 38.5”-39” all together. If the scale length is 24.75-25.5 it could still be classified as full size
I guess it is O.K.-Kind of small to play properly. I guess if a small kid wanted to learn general chords etc, to get started it would help get off your feet. I really feel that a 125.00 Squire would be a better way to start, so the hands are used to a full fret board etc. I forgot how much these are selling for. I am pretty sure you could get a used" full sized" guitar somewhere on Craigs list. If it was my kid wanting something used and was looking at "Craigslist" I would certainly be "In Charge"- In this day & age you need to be careful who you contact on line.
