Watching this made me think about Oda sensei, the author of One Piece, who actually sleeps only 2-3 hours every day. He also has live action, anime, illustrations and everything to worry about for the last 28 years. Hope he stays okay.

I feel that the Tokyo Blade author is more relatable than in the last episode, by learning that her overreaction is largely due to the horrible failure of the Love Today adaptation, which her sensei's work that she treasures so much🥲

When Abiko says 90% of creative works are garbage, we can look at it on a different perspective--- She's not saying that her work is the 10% but that in a sea of mainstream works only a small amount (10%) actually pop off and become highly regarded. This is kind of true, if we look into the anime that people are talking about this anime season vs. the total amount of anime in the season. So, if you think a work is amazing, then that's likely a 10%~ or we can also say-- most anime reactors are only reacting to 10% of the shows coming out this season. She enforces her creative stance as a way to stay within that 10% albeit to her detriment. She could've worded that better yes, but that's what you get from a closeted eccentric like Abiko that rose to fame quickly~ very harsh and comes about as being an A-hole.

i also believe that abiko and the scriptwriter should just talk, that way the play would be amazing!! love you and your reactions awake

I'd cut Abiko some slack. While saying it crosses a line to say outright because everyone is trying their hardest, she's not necessarily wrong when she says 90% of creative works aren't good. The amount of creative works out there is staggering but only a small percentage is actually good enough to earn itself some renown, not to mention how hard it is to remain in that small percentage. That said, her rise to fame has left her overconfident, which doesn't mix well with a lack of good communication skills. Combine that with a negative perspective against certain adaptations because of a REALLY shitty one happening to one of her favorite series as a result of the author just letting them do whatever they want, plus terrible communication between intermediaries, and you have... well, what happened.

Yeah I agree that while she could have handled things alot more professionally her heart was in the right place wanting to make sure her work didnt meet the same fate as her mentor's especially when you consider that she probably did backgrounds or work on that manga. She also genuinely worked hard almost killing herself to create the story and characters and wants things to go well. She really just needs to learn to broaden her perspective and communicate effectively. I was angry too with her perspective on creative works but she's kinda right. If there are 2000 romance animes out there for example there are going to be about 100 to 200 that internationally and locally would be well received and the others labelled as mid. Coming from her who is a renowned mangaka it sounds insulting not to mention that she is overconfident but she has a point. Alot of people dont talk about this but Ruby's interactions with her friends had a point that depending on the context talking with someone else in the same industry as you about your work or others work can come off as bragging or being insulting instead of it being relatable.

Is it me really noticing that her perception of character motives are getting weaker. She doesn't understand Abiko-sensei at all. If you see it Abiko-sensei is a big fan of Sweet today thats the main reason she wants to assist and work with Yoriko sensei thats why she got traumatized when they adapted it, The drama was so bad she even stopped watching the series not knowing that the last ep where aqua appears is the good episode (thats why we see her watching the last ep). In a way shes a manga fan too and when you see your beloved manga adapted to shit you'll feel extreme disgusts and anger to the people who adapted it. Especially in her case she is an artist herself whose work is getting adapted plus with her issues (being selfish, arrogant and mean) it amplifies her bad personality. I just wish you cut her some slack. And to be fair there are millions of artist in this world and only 10% percent will ever be rich and famous thats the harsh reality of the artistry world.

eh i think theres middle ground. i dont think she deserves any slack for if nothing else than she threw an absolute tantrum in a professional environment, especially in japan where courtesy and respect are so highly valued. understanding her frustation is totally fine, but she doesnt deserve any consolation for how shes acted. and thats fine, it sets the stage for redemption. her going to the play shows her willingless to learn from a mistake.

The 90% of creative works being bad is pretty much a fact tho. Esspecially nowadays with oversaturation. There are for example literal thousands(more than 19k) of anime shows, and there is a reason most people only really see hundreds of them(And that's advid fans of it, most haven't seen more than 30-50), let alone the fact that a good set of even those are probably ones you drop for being bad. It's a simple harsh reality.

The cartoonist has a series and must give one manuscript a month or a week, In many cases, they stay up all night to write the manga, which often results in physical injury. The idea of omitting an intermediary is not something that can be accepted unless the cartoonist is a big name and in a position where he or she would not complain if the series was stopped, and there is no guarantee that a direct meeting will resolve the conflict. The reality is also that it is more complicated.
