Cheong Jun Hoong became the Malaysia's first diving World Champion after winning the 10m platform individual event in World Aquatic Championship Budapest 2017.
Jun Hoong scored a dramatic upset victory over the both Chinese 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist Ren Qian, Olympic Silver Medalist Si Yajie, as well as the Canadian Olympic Bronze Medalist Meghan Benfeito and also the defending World Champion North Korean Kim Kuk-hyang.
"That's why she is the World Champion". This is what 2008 Beijing Olympic Gold Medalist Matthew Mitcham commented on one of the dive by Cheong Jun Hoong during 2018 Commonwealth games.
Jun Hoong also won a silver medal in 2016 Rio Olympic in 10m Platform Synchro event with partner Pandelela Rinong Pamg, both duo pair also grab the gold medal in 2018 Commonwealth Games.
