You need to hike out of that Kennedy Meadows, down the west slope, to relief reservoir, . Kicked my butt

So true, but so worth it. My brother and I dug up the remains of the construction locomotive that was used in the building of the dam back in the 30s(?), then reburied it (yes, I know, too much time on my hands). Regardless of the locomotive a magnificent trek. Cheers!

Glad you got to check it out! I need to explore that area more too. Last fall I did a quick overnight out of Sonora Pass and didn't see another person until the second day.

Sheety you NEED to hike the Hetch Hetchy trail from the dam that you drive to and park. It is an AWESOME hike, Hetchy canyon is another Yosemite Valley.. You can do a simple overnight, there and back again or go all the way to the PCT south to Tuolumne Meadows. Have you seen the Water Wheel Falls north of Tuolumne Meadows on the Tuolumne River?

@@Sheety33 Overall its 43 miles from the reservoir using the north side trail and follow that where it loops away and then down to the PCT. Water Wheel Falls should be seen in June before the snow melts too much. Water Wheel falls is about 10 miles from T. Meadows Also you hike just under and in front of some awesome falls at the lake. Just looked them up, they are called Wapama falls and another one. I'm looking at it on google maps and it shows a road on the North side of the reservoir that wasn't there last Time I went in 86. Look the place up on google maps and use the hiker icon for directions from Hetchy to Toulumne on trails. Is Yosemite even open yet? Never mind the road, google earth shows a trail from the dam . You go from 3770 feet to 8600 feet so you might want to leave Tuolumne and go down to the lake.

So happy that you finally got into the Sonora, if even only a bit. Try mid-late July this year. Truly awe-inspiring terrain, your breath will be taken away so frequently that you'll think it's because of the altitude. Can't wait to see your next Sonora vid. Cheers!

Great stuff. Thanks. Id like to hike a trail that starts near the 395 this summer that has some good stream fishing. Any suggestions?
