It is not uncommon for an otherwise undefeated team to lose to the worst team. Spurs got to like the smell of themselves after a short streak. They let up rather than stepping up and were unable to recover and regain the initiative in the fight. This can be an incredible lesson and motivation. Next match will tell. Champions HATE losing far more than they love winning. I still believe!!! COYS!
💯 agree I think it was complacency you can blame Ange a bit maybe but the players really dropped it in the second half . Other teams in the top 4 show their mentality keep their foot down on their throats or if it’s a drop off it isn’t off a cliff like Spurs did in the second half . They’ll learn and be better for it . COYS💙🤍
what a reply. man I love this team, I don't buy into the whole 'spursy' attitude. this team is amazing, the players are getting there, most of all, we have a manager with a winning mentality.
I do want Ange to do well ,but,he does seem to have a brain blockage when it comes to defence ,he has the players but the set up is wrong.Alex Ferguson
I’m sick of learning something new. There is no excuse for all 11 men looking around like stray dogs for their owner. They need to get a grip, step up and drive each other when the see teammates not concentrating. I am absolutely shockingly gutted.COYS
As frustrating as the defeat is I’m still glad to see that Ange is the kind of manager to shoulder the responsibility. It means he’s not giving up. Conte would just throw players under the bus to rid himself of any blame… It’s rough but easier to take given recent form
To much faith in the quality of these players. Maybe with one more season under their belt but that a big if at this moment. Hes not responsible for the quality of player but surely hes got to realise that some of them just arent capable of his philosophy and need to manage games in a different way. Esp. when the rival manager changes 'works out' what to do differently in the 2nd half...
To be fair (as a Brighton fan), I can't believe how bad we were first half... It's a pretty shocking result for both sides. At least one of the games this Sunday has been exciting!
@@irregulargamer5848We showed our quality in the first half. The 2nd half was an issue of mentality, and that we didn't put a fraction of the effort that we had. Just a total breakdown for whatever reason, but I think it's got a lot to do with Romero's leadership.
@@conner.9262 I’d do?! 😂 You’re projecting mate. You’re an armchair coach saying generic shit like “ItS a GaMe oF tWo HaLvEs”. Surely you can be more original that THAT.
I believe the players came out 2nd half thinking the game was already won. Of course it helps if it's 12 v 10 as Werner might as well have had a Brighton shirt on.
No excuse really. I cant see many of these players being up for a proper scrap. I expect we will see more of these sorts of games this season. Until they either change their attitude (unlikely) or the next transfer window brings in some Aussie style scrappers.
Yea I get that vibe from him as well. Been annoying me for a while. He thinks he's wiser and better than he is, hence he plays well for a while, and then goes missing, and that's why he can't get a place in the England team. There was one moment in the second half where i think vdv had the ball and there was one brighton player between vdv and himself, and tons of space in midfield if he just took a couple of steps to the side, but he just stood right in line with the Brighton player as if he didn't want the ball.
Yeah I’m concerned about him. He might think he’s a big time Charlie without having actually achieved anything. Talented but not sure about him at times.
Finally a reporter asked him about whether subs would have made a difference. Not surprisingly, he doesn't think it would have made difference. I completely disagree with him and I worry that this may not only be his downfall, but the Spurs' chance of winning anything this year. The other side of this weakness he has is that when he does rotate the team, they are rusty. Take Radu for instance. What's he going to be like in a high pressure situation? He has barely played this year and I ear that his next game will lead to another big mistake. I also worry about players like Spence and the fact that Udogie was stinking it up, getting tired, and Ange still doesn't yank him off. This whole situation is what leads to the "Spursy" tag that we can never shake.
I mean this is Spurs , but I never expected that , from complete control and a case of how many , we were like a car that run out of petrol in a race .
@spreiik Tiredness is sometime comparative - we had Europe but Brighton didn't. Also, if you are not performing and I still keep you in, I guess that's on me.
That's rubbish, these are elite athletes whose conditioning is frst and foremost. They're not playing Sunday League. He's had variations of the high press since he joined Spurs. He's been rotating players to keep them fresh. Brighton was the better team in the 2nd half and made the most of their opportunities.
Udogie was shocking. He's too young to be the full-time left back. Need someone with more maturity. Postecoglu should've changed the formation much earlier in the second half and bolstered the midfield and defence.
This is what you usually do as a manager. But tbh we haven't got the smartest players in our squad and to me it looks, that many won't do the extra run for the others
No need to complicate the explanations or demand removing the manager. It is easy to understand. You cannot maintain the stamina for such intensive play as occured in the first half. There should have been two or three changes if not at the start of the 2nd half, then absolutely after Brighton's first goal. Hoping that things will straighten out by themselves is naive.
Every man and his dog could see that the momentum was with Brighton and we were losing the midfield in that second half, but no changes until the 79th min! Wtf
I loved when we went defensive after taking the lead under conte and mourinho, it sure got us the results we wanted… you need to realize that if the players don’t put in to hard work both mentally and physically for the full 90 minutes, no tactics will get you the results you want consistently
HOW COME EVERY SEASON LOOKS LIKE THAT?????????? REGARDLESS OF MANAGER OR PLAYERS?????? HOW?????? THIS YEAR IS GOING TO BE THE WORST I CAN EASILY GUESS, ALREAY LOST 3 OF 7 GAMES.
You could literally see the lack of focus in that second half. Example, watch Romero for Welbecks goal. Bro just ball watches the whole time before the cross. It’s actually embarrassing
When we went down to 3-2 he looked lost. We’re fine on the front foot when all the tippy tappy football is being played but as soon as the opposition take control we just don’t do the basics
How many substitutions did you want ange to make. There were 6 or 7 that were underperforming. Was it tiredness? Something wasn't right, where was the roy keane leadership on the field
Why Porro is always in attack as a defender? That s why he is not playing for the national team!!! Play Radu Dragusin...in the place of Udogie second half and maybe we had a chance for a good result 👍
I realise Ange has been successful with previous clubs, however, what Ange may be overlooking due to lack of experience at this level, is playing in the Premiership is a big step up from other leagues and there is a huge physical demand on the players. I would have played a more defensive game in the second half where Brighton, would have no option but to get the ball into our half, which potentially would have opened up gaps. Our defence compared to last weekend was a complete contrast. If Ange is going to insist on playing a “high press style” of football, making substitutions at the hour mark, might be better tactically, that will give some of our starting line-up players, more recovery time and bringing on players that are fresher. I get the feeling that Ange’s style of pla,y might be a little overwhelming for some of our players and might be one of the causes of our second half collapse. I do not believe for a minute that any of our players on the pitch are not 100% committed, as Ange would observe that during their training sessions. I believe it is more of a stamina issue than a fitness concern. We are also playing in Europe this season, which puts more demands on our players, including recovery time. We have also played three away games in the last seven days, including a trip to Europe. Man Utd and Brighton are tough fixtures and are always in the top half of the Premier league table. Therefore, it would not surprise me, that some of our players are feeling tired, despite their best intentions.
The press completely fell off in the second half - Solanke was pressing all the way up, but the wingers and midfield held off, left way too many gaps for Brighton to play out
They went in at half time thinking the job was done. BHA came out in the 2nd half with increased intensity, pressing and chasing everything, and Spurs didn't know what hit them. The momentum of the game changed very quickly. Certainly a game of two halves....
Ange is throwing the players under the bus again. Players lack intensities and competitiveness, he said. So why not sub earlier? No, timing of substitution is irrelevant, he said. What does that even mean? The bench players would have no intensity and competitiveness as well? Did he say something upset the whole squad during the half time speech? I sensed that he's preparing to ship out Cuti - of course after he shipped out Kane, then Hojbjerg, then mooted to ship out Son (quickly shut down by Levy).
Don't worry......Just a bump in the road . Players will learn from this...don't get ahead of yourselves. 2 nil plainly should mean nothing to the players , play like you haven't scored at all.
Harsh learning lesson, some shocking defending and a serious lack of aggressive attitude towards team defending. This is 100% the players fault. Ange will get them right. Pressure makes diamonds! 3 points at home next game COYS
They looked as if their heads had dropped from the start of the second half, while being 2-0 up. Mentally weak or lacking. Time for players to call each other out and get rid of that schoolboy energy of hiding and not communicating or being assertive. As Ange said, they didn't do the basics.
He’s not happy and rightly so. We collapsed all over the pitch collectively together. They just stopped. Romero needs to stop ball watching, he did several times end of first half and got lucky. A supposedly top defender cannot and must not ball watch!!! Udogie lost his few duals, Maddison concerns me, he looks a big time Charlie at times and not physically strong enough for this level. Clearly talented on the ball but believes the hype…and that celebration and his reaction suggests complacency to me! I do think Ange should have made subs sooner but also agree it probably wouldn’t have changed much, the whole team stopped competing and seemed to expect the next spurs player to win the duel. And they didn’t. Hope he gives them the riot act. Never ever believe you’ve won and a really good team like Brighton were aka ways going to come back strong, could see that towards the end of second half where they should have pulled one back way way. Romero sort yourself out! This ball watching is an alarming trait and he won’t last if he’s doesn’t sort that out.
it is same. since last year!! spurs is no 1 half time champion!! teach him soccer needs 90min. not 45min.!! and when the tide is changed, he must do something but he did not.....even elementary school boy knows we must block mitoma if u see 1st half. but he didnt.~~this is not an online game. the players cannot play fully for 90min. we must kick him out if he doeant wanna change his tactics. 0-0 when 2-0 is different. it means we dont need high line, we dont need to stay near arround half line.
I knew we wouldn't be able to handle two games a week - junk squad and he's too scared to lose job to give youngsters more than 5 minutes. Ange the bluffer out, this not a league for bluffers.
The players in the 2nd half .let the club down the fans down. The manager is visibly bemused .by such abject 2nd half.Unreal how they showed nothing ,but slack football
Totally agree. Thought the cappuccino kit last season was the worst but the green kit is even worse. Had to watch the game on the phone and it was so hard to see the players.
Is the key manager responsible when you leading 20 you supposed to play different static? Why didn’t you change formation for Blade defense that attack when you leading into zero only an idiot
Can you ask ange in press conferece if he finished the first half 2-0, he should change to defensive tactics in the second half? He always keeps a high defensive line, no matter the score. I hope he changes his tactics to suit the situation.
Tactics was not why we lost the game , it was mentality. The team strolled onto the pitch 2nd half thinking the game was already won , we switched off & Brighton done us We could’ve made some changes but the momentum had already gone by the time it was 2-2 It’s gone now , so we have to pick ourselves up in 2 weeks & go again COYS ⚪️🔵⚽️
Not in his philosophy unfortunately. The guy thinks hes at the end of his process when were clearly not , as the players are a couple of grades below where they need to be. Doubt some of them will get there. So there needs to be a better quality of player in certain positions.
@@irregulargamer5848 He doesnt think that at all do you actually listen to him. The players thought they had already won. You can never think that against any team. Full stop.
Plenty more ,where that came from. This Herbert, is completely out of his depth...Captain Gormless, against anywhere near a half-decent team..the perfect ENIC employee.
This philosophy is sound, but only for a cheque book manager. We just dont have the quality or depth to keep playing his style every half of every game.
Go get Poch back had enough of excuses every second week done the same against leicester first game of season .Ange is payed to see our attitude was wrong early second half and done nothing not good enough players udiogie romero needed to come off and were so poor
