Any song that has whistling and banjo to start has to be easy listening. These Folk Bluegrass musicians are from Regina, 🇨🇦, formed from the demise of a grunge band. Soon they were learning the banjo and the mandolin, and producing Bluegrass influenced tunes. Sometimes referred to as the Evil Mumford and Sons, for their twisted lyrics that often depict violent and gruesome deaths, brought on by a love of spaghetti westerns and Tarantino movies. Catchy as hell

I don't know what to call it either. It's something in between Bluegrass and Old Time. I've been calling their music Old Time Revival for lack of a better term just because it reminds me a lot of American Southern music from before the turn of the century into the 30's.

Our old songs were about men doing away with their girlfriends.

Your guess was close, it's in the line, "countdown three rounds, in Hell I'll be in good company " . In other words one round for her one for the side she was cheating with and one for himself, and all three in Hell...

Love this song. Been listening to these guys a couple of years. Don’t worry bout what they are saying. I’m not sure but I think the guy walked in on his wife cheating and he’s kinda in shock. I think later he lost it then killed her and he’s saying yeah I did and I’m going to hell but so is every other person who killed a cheating spouse.i may be wrong but that’s what I think.

Any band that uses a cello for a bass has my attention, and, oh yeah - they're from Saskatchewan!

These guys are a lot of fun. They do a great version of "People are Strange" by the Doors. Another great band to check out if you're curious about the whole blackgrass/ murder-folk genre is the Bridge City Sinners, out of Portland, I believe.

Such a catchy tune for such dark lyrics! Controversy over Danny Kenyon sexual allegations which I think are resolved. "You are my Sunshine" was always an upbeat type of song from previous artists until Dead South version! Great reaction!

I recently had the pleasure of seeing and more importantly hearing these gents at the Commodore ballroom in Vancouver, BC. Highly recommended.

Just seen ur video. Really enjoyed ur reaction but my main thing was I loved ur dreads man. I dunno if it would be ur kinda thing but there's a band from Wales called skindred n they do reggae metal n Benji the lead singer must have the best dreads I've seen since Bob Marley

I saw this video a few time and didn't know it is Blue Grass until I saw the band in other videos.

I love the sound of bluegrass ... I discovered these guys for myself a couple years ago on the 'Utube'. Tried to find any CD's for sale at the time. Wasn't lucky. IMO .. music today is utter garbage .. but the "Dead South' is pure talent. Unfortunately, not commercial enough to be played on any average, typical FM station in the PNW (Seattle and surrounding areas/counties). Let me know if I'm wrong. I've never heard their music played on the radio. THANK GOD FOR FM CLASSIC ROCK, COUNTRY & BLUES!

Yes. I love them, too, but Danny, the guy on the cello, is an accused sexual predator/rapist.

A friend of mine who would normally never listen to this type of music/Bky Grass turned me on to it. Catchy, really stuck with me for a long time. Think carefully before you try to dive into the lyrics of most of their songs, I heard them the first time a little before I found out about the Reaction videos. When I hit those, I had a great time seeing how folks only recently exposed to the old classic stuff reacted and were educated, incidentally got reminded and re-engaged with that amazing stuff with so many genre blends and so much talent.... Sorry, but after that, with something fresh on your mind from a band like Rush or Zeppelin just as two choices of infinite other choices from the late 60's to the present, the Dead South for me just doesn't stand out a whole lot..

Southern Gothic Bluesgrass is what I am thinking. There are a few bands that are (or were) doing that. My feeling from the lyrics is that yes, he did murder his infedelitious (sp?!) partner but they also stabbed him and he is going down too.

Always love Harri, an education you see...thrilled to hear his take on this one...so much lovely music and seriously problem lyrics and confessions. But whatta ride!
