@@MsJelena Calling Ma'am and Sir started in pilipino school days...and calling it on that way means we gave respect delivering words to a person we are talking to... it's like a hospitality of being recognized but with respect in our own words by saying Ma'am and Sir..

In our workplace my boss doesn't like us to call anyone MAAM or SIR! We are all equal. I bet calling someone by their name when you know them is sweet. 😊

@@kitesponganIt has nothing to do with Slavery. It has always been part of our Tradition. “Mam/Sir” is the Equivalent to “Po” in our Filipino language. Why would we use “Po” to a foreigner if They may not understand this meaning so the Closes term we can apply or convey in English is “Mam/Sir”. Some of You Fil-Am’s need to get your head out your asses and quit looking at Us Filipinos as victims of History. kahit anong hinaharap natin sa mundong ito lagi tayo tagumpay. It’s only you Filipino Am that adopt that victimhood mentality. So stop it.

Calling ma'am or sir is the simpliest way of showing respect for us filipino's to someone.. Its kinda awkward to call first names even if u become friends with because some would feel shy especially that your a foreigner.

Mafran is an acquired taste and actually it's too sweet for me. Much prefer Ketchup with my grilled pork and actually vinegar with garlic and mild spice is perfect with the pork. I'm glad the people are helping you in making sure your bike ramps well and maintaining the proper oil change especially in a hot red environment. Did you ever have a chance to settle that issue of neighbors turning their music early in the morning? I would ask other neighbors if they feel annoyed with it too. Have a fun Monday

One of your annoying experience that will bother you in most of your neighborhood is the music. Sometimes they will start playing their music early in the morning. I myself love the early morning sleep and here you go over and over again loud music. Filipinos are negotiable people, just talk to them politely and they cooperate. However young people may not so go to Barangay head and somehow they can help the situation.Good luck.Watching from NYC

Actually there's So many famous brand & Variant of Banana Ketchup that was all originated here in the Philippines. Just like PAPA KETCHUP/ UFC KETCHUP/ JUFRAN KETCHUP/ and many more..! But my favorite since I was a kid until now is UFC banana ketchup.🤩👍🇵🇭🤤

Hi Jelena ..... calling you "mam or sir" is a gesture of respect to someone like or same as a word before an older person's name "ALING for older women or MANG fro older men" so if I am younger than your age I will call you "Aling" Jelena and If you are younger than me and you will call me "Mang" before my name for respect gesture. Trivia: Banana ketsup was invented by MARIA OROSA in the 1930's.

Banana ketchup really is no different from tomato ketchup. Banana ketchup is sweeter and cheaper, that's why it's the preferred choice for Filipinos 😊 Just don't call that guy as 'maam'. He can be weird sometimes 😅

Calling sir/ma'am to someone you don't quite know is natural here in the Philippines, people who often use that are specifically those who work in a lower industry or jobs that have a lower salaries like that man working in a car shop he will intend to call his every customer sir/ma'am just to pay respects for you choose their shop to trust with your specific car.

should have let them try unknowing with barbecue meat. Most people are going to go for what they are familiar with. I personally don't like tomatoes ketchup but if I ever get my hands on banana ketchup it would be gone within days.
