@@ItsAlyx. Haha, I appreciate that man :) And genuinely thank you so much for your videos. You do *not* want to know how long I spent searching for decent Mineclub footage. Without you and BlueNinjar, this video would not have happened because I literally would not have had video of anything on Mineclub except like one lobby and three of the gamemodes. Again, thank y'all so much
He suddenly got the brilliant idea to strangle his golden goose to try and threaten it into laying more eggs, which not only ended up killing the goose eventually, but also just made it lay less eggs up until it died. I don't understand how some people can be so greedy that they fuck up to this extent
I was actually a staff member at one point on MineClub, I have very fond memories from the server but at a time when I was a teenager without needs and plenty of money from my job at the local grocery store I ended up spending roughly $1,400 on the server in crates because I had genuinely developed a gambling addiction due to the "wagering" system that they had included in their server and my feeling of FOMO for having missed out on the beta and trying to claw as many "Beta Hats" as possible with many highs and lows but ultimately every time I would lose it all and ended up leaving when the server had a slew of controversies due to the higher up staff members actions.
@@ManunKanava Yeah, it really was blink and you miss it in terms of Minecraft history. Releases in January 2021, hits almost 4,000 players by the end of the year, shuts down in 2022.
the thing is, even with nixe performing scams on the developers and the players, there were so many other issues with the server that involved an admin being an actual pedophile, another admin making irl money bribes/bets with minors, and transphobia the social concept of mineclub was great and i had many memories to gain from it, but the management and it's issues were enough to make everything fall further and further down; it was fun while it lasted hanging around most of the staff team and creating huge events, but it wasn't made to last - Former Moderator/Housing Lead
bro really had his butter and bread, all the money, all the playerbase needed yet he managed to ruin it all and also get arrested i played on that server a few times and although i had basically no memories on it, it was an interesting experiment for a time that hypixel's monopoly was on an all time high I'll miss the Hive server tho, may it rest in peace
Awesome video dude. Seeing not just a Mineclub video, but also from you was quite the surprise. I was a regular on that server so I have a LOT of extra info, so this is a looong comment but I figured I'll leave some more info for anyone that's interested because why not: As the video said, everyone was immediately drawn to the server due to having MCC games. Millions of us watched those insanely unique, polished, fun games in MCC and could only wish we had the chance to play it ourselves one day... and then well, we could. After the first few months though, Mineclub started to expand past just being an MCC clone. After having 3 MCC games (Battle Box, Slime Walls aka Hole in the Wall, and Parkour Tag), they added Laser Tag, a completely unique game, and they held a Discord stage. In those moments, the server shot up to the highest player count it had ever seen, it was around 3.8k. 2 or 3 months later they released their 5th game, Dodgeball. Held a stage for that too, the server shot up to around 3.5k. This was in September 2021. After this point, the overall hype as a whole started to die off a bit, but the general core playerbase remained, especially when they added their own version of Housing in October/November of that same year. The community was VERY tight-knit, and very committed to the server. The server had its own economy and marketplace, and these very exclusive cosmetics called unobtainables, which only a few thousand of each item existed. That may sound like a lot but it really isn't, which made each one of them extremely valuable and people would grind the market for those unobtainables, including wagering in Match 5 (which was literally gambling lol). This was all further amplified with housing. At first it was quite basic but some months later it had a LOT of custom stuff. You could place hundreds of the cosmetics that existed, and then they added gameblocks, special blocks that gave special effects you could make really cool stuff with (teleportation, blindness, glowing, etc). Throughout several months people would host events in their housings and give away millions upon millions upon millions of items worth of gems (the server's currency), or just gems straight up. There was a lot of replay value. I could go on and on about certain things the server had, and what was planned but I won't, because the Mineclub iceberg is insanely deep, all of this is really just scraping the surface honestly. Things really started going down with Nixe's overpromising. Throughout 2021 and early 2022, he would claim all sorts of things would happen, most famously, that they would release a brand new game every single month (at a later point he said every single week), and that they would push out their huge marketing budget of $250k (later apparently became $1m) and get many more people in the server. I also remember much earlier in 2021 he said he was extremely confident the server would have absolutely blown up and have 50k players by the end of the year. Obviously, none of this happened. He kept saying and promising things, giving everyone hope and hype, and for a while everyone believed him, because why wouldn't we? The server did have a lot of potential, and what they had made so far was extremely cool. But, all those promises just never happened. All the while updates pushed to the server were very slow. Which ties back to Joey. For some reason this was almost never talked about by anyone, but this was always my greatest concern for the server by far (and my fears ended up being justified), the fact that they had just ONE guy developing the overwhelming majority of the stuff for the server programming-wise. I never understood why Nixe did this. It's not like he couldn't afford more devs, and it was incredibly inefficient. Understandably, many people just got sick of waiting for updates that never came and started to depart in droves. The server had already lost a lot of players, but when Nixe began to get exposed for things in mid 2022, that really sealed the deal. The reputation of the server had never been in a worse place, and a large chunk of the remaining, active community quit immediately. This even included dozens of guides (helpers basically) and mods that were on the server and invested so much time into it for well over a year. I decided to stay and see what would happen because I was curious, and on the off chance that the server ever makes a comeback. Interestingly, a month or 2 after the stuff with Joey, Nixe actually finally hired multiple more devs, but it seemed as though there was nothing going on. From then and up to November, very little happened, and then the server shut down. To be honest, even with everything that happened, the server COULD have still been successful and absolutely changed the multiplayer game. It really did have so much potential, what they had built and what they were planning on turning it into was seriously impressive, but it was all just executed so poorly. Most say the server was a scam, in some ways it certainly was, but much much more, it was the greatest waste of potential in, literally, all of Minecraft history.
You know the server had 3 Devs? Way before the issues with Joey and Alex, There was Freus & Mason who both worked on things, Ferus was in charge of Housing and Tabletop games, Joey and Mason worked on core network functions bits and Mini games. I believe
@@BlueNinjar Yeah I do remember Ferus. I didn't know he did Tabletop, I remember being told that he worked on Housing and Housing only, and that Joey did basically everything else. Though I don't remember Mason. I'm assuming he was in and out of Mineclub even earlier than when I joined, unless I really did just somehow miss him lol
@@FlashCrimson "The greatest waste of potential in Minecraft history" is a perfect description. From 0 players to 4,000 in months... that doesn't just happen with any ordinary server. And yet, they fumbled it so badly they had to shut it down less than a year later
W I got referenced 😂 Real talk, Nixe is the worst person I’ve ever met. Emotionally abused and manipulated me personally for years. Despite everything I tried giving him the benefit of the doubt for a long time and it only hurt more in the long run. As a 16 year old at the time, I didn’t understand the level of what was wrong with everything. At the expense of my own mental health I continued supporting him despite everything he did to me until the end of the line & even then he still blamed me personally for the server failing. Thank you for making this video. edit: i just now noticed you included some brief clips from some of my content.. my fake beta hat speedrun is in this LMAO He is still around with a new alias but playing ROBLOX instead lmao.
I love how Nixe went from trying to make millions of of Minecraft to running a clan on Pet Simulator in Roblox. Why doesn’t he just make a Roblox game? 😂
@@ItsClawlike “Any project my team takes on we invest a lot of money and time. Right now I am focusing on other things. Games are quite complex” his words
Great video! Although I wish you would have covered the beta calls where he would outright lie for money and the scummy staff recruitment which was essentially a loyalty pact for players (it forced you to interact in chat and play for hours every day.)
Was a staff there for a year and two months and then got kicked out of the staff team without a word or warning 👍 Otherthen all the drama I met some amazing people who i still talk to to this day.
I got mine taken away for no reason too 😗 I don’t talk to anyone from there anymore but it was definitely favoritism going on in the staff team, I was a server favorite but the entire staff team hated me
I didn't expect people to remember this server. I remember playing this back when it was new, but then I quit Minecraft for a while. I came back a few months ago and tried looking for the server, and when I finally remembered the name, it was not online. I thought it had shut down because everyone moved to MCC Island, but it was for a worse reason. What a waste.
It's sad how this is only one of many scams that are happening. this is one of the most common scams you can possibly find for minecraft and Zach sure af didn't help.
Thanks for referencing to me in this video. I loved playing that server at the start, but it was bound to fall after what they did and what their intentions were.
i remember this server. back before chat reporting was ever a thing, i was searching around for parkour servers, and i somehow ended up on Mineclub. i even remember when the timer for when the server would launch went into the negatives
I never would have expected to see a video about MineClub after all this time. I remember watching the server lose popularity due to countless dramas. The crazy thing is, I actually saw it being destroyed with my own eyes. Despite everything that happened, I truly miss it. For me, it was, without a doubt, my favorite time playing Minecraft. I made so many friends there, and I even recognize a lot of people from the community in the comments. It brings back so much nostalgia. I wish the server would make a comeback, though it feels so unlikely. - Former staff member (AKA ChickAstley), still holding on to my profile picture from the MineClub era.
@@MxMarszal That seems to be a pretty common sentiment - for all its flaws, Mineclub had a great community that a lot of people miss. There's a revival server called Clubmine being worked on though which might be pretty fun!
I was hated by the higher ups i was trying to be a staff member but i only needed 3 recommendations by staff and i got over 20 but they didn’t want to and they delayed me being staff for months then when i asked about it they said i wanted staff just because the role and kicked me out of the program all together
Learned it myself, though I do occasionally use tutorials for an effect I don't know how to do - I learned the Matrix effect (turning a video into green outlines filled with animated code) and bump maps from tutorials for example. I don't think anything in this video was learned through a tutorial though, just many years of trial and error :p And I've still got a lot of work to do! I see videos from creators like CalebIsSalty or LEMMiNO and marvel in awe sometimes, haha
still incredibly conflicted about my time there, huge upside is that i made a bunch of positive memories and even some friends from the community, downside was what happened behind the closed doors and being completely oblivious as a young teen even with the red flags i see a couple times a month. i feel lucky i havent been hurt as badly as others but there are quite alot of people who had their trust betrayed alongside seeing some having gambling problems at 13-15 because of the server. i make fun of a friend for that, but in the very least he didnt spend actual money on it, i've seen a few people who've spent thousands on the server. its weird how this specific server is the only one that drags me back with bitter nostalgia. i feel happy seeing names i recognize in this comment section, hope yall are doing well for yourselves
I played this server a lot a while back. The only thing that was keeping me playing is the friendly community. I hated everything else about the server, more than half of my playtime was in hub.
Y'know I was invited to this, visited it, people offered me NFTs and stuff to be involved so then I never touched any communication with it at all again.
i was one of the first players on Mineclub, I never knew why the server got shutdown till today and it sucks to hear. Mineclub was really a One of a kind server, with all the cosmetics, the games, the economy & the wholesome community I just don't think there's gonna be a server like it again. RIP Mineclub, F nixe
Imagine being a millionaire and not paying your developers for the work they've done, that's fucked up. Just imagine if he wasn't an a-hole, scammed the people who worked on the project, it'd probably be bigger today then it was before, what ashame.
I remember this server was an MCCisland alternative for people who didnt get info beta tests yet (i played mineclub for like 2 weeks and then got info MCCisland)
Holy shit...I haven't watched the video yet but I'm shocked to see mineclub mentioned anywhere again. To my knowledge it just went down due to some petty drama
I regret ever modding for that server lmao horrible horrible place people who abused their powers and higher ups that acted like children, ay glad to see people atleast enjoyed the wiki & archive though
Oh my God now that right there is not the best way to own a mini game server . That is way too far. He needs to pay the developers but do the work himself. Because they do a lot making plugins
Ahh... so that's what happened to Mineclub... I used to play Annihilations there bc it was like the most popular server for it at the time. Kinda sad all of this happened later
Wait he had a hand in Mineteria? The one that the MCFNAF GLG guys and their friends promoted and stuff? Shoot, wouldn't have guess that. I've heard some crap about Mineteria from them. Kinda not surprised the next thing he made also turned horribly
This server broke my computer I was playing it and then I’m guessing the texture packs caused it to overheat and destroy many core functions within the computer fun fact
There's a revival server named Clubmine which is currently in Beta - it's run by different owners and fixes a lot of Mineclub's problems. Might be a good place to start :) There's also MCC Island if you haven't tried it, which has many similar games
@@mcbyt it appears that my comment was deleted. Basically the server at 0:11 and throughout wasn't private and if referring to plobby as private, rules still apply
@@mooing_cowmilk Oh sorry, I completely missed that. Strange that minimaps are disallowed on MCCI - I would think that they'd be just fine as long as entities are turned off, but I guess just for the sake of simplicity there's a blanket ban. That's good to know, I'll turn it off next time I'm on MCCI :)
it won't be coming back. the entire core team has fallen off the face of the earth, the owner was last heard of in police custody in chicago & the community has already built their own replacement for it (i believe it's called clubmine 💀)
@@Anqromeda very true. one thing the video misses though is that the community that stayed didn't stay for the minigames. they stayed for the community, for the social aspect & for the promise of new social content. it was a minigame server, sure, but the minigames were rarely updated. the biggest new content updates we got were seasonal events that introduced new cosmetics and new monetisation for them. and sure, it being an "mcc practice server" was most people's route into it, me included but i don't really think that was ever nixe's aim
@@BARLOWES4PRES haha true, i can tell you skillshare's not one though for sure. genuinely a useful service and i'm really happy they reached out - i actually used some of their classes on there to start coding a custom plugin for my server :)
i was wondering about this server a few months ago and holy moly. i think I wasted money on there. oh my god while I type this, there's a few servers that I recognize
11:53 of course he's also transphobic (from a trans person who has never heard of mineclub) I don't get why these people exist, like can't they just enjoy life as it is?
