@@jakedizzleIt's not an upgrade. It's a 700 dollar playstation 5 with more than twice the storeage and graphics power over the base model. If you own a PS5 already you can buy another PS5 for 500 bucks with 850gb storage or for 200 bucks more you can get a Pro model with 2tb of storage and much better graphics power. You can buy a pc but when you upgrade it will cost way over a grand to upgrade components. With a PC to get a second one would be over 2 grand or so. Not sure where everyones head is. You get to keep your original PS5. It's not a trade in.

My only issue with this whole Ps5 Pro thing is that there's NO GAMES. How are you going to release a more powerful console and show old last-gen games running on it? Where are the NEW games?

Then all fell the same as the PS4, because not all developers have the budget to update their games to fully utilize the PS5 Pro's capabilities. Even the PS5 still plays most PS4 games in the same way that the PS4 does. What a waste.

@@NetmanOnline Sony makes a profit on their console sales they already said that. There would be no reason to make the pro model if they were just going to lose even more money on it. Pro model isn't going to sell even close to the base model numbers and theres not going to be Pro only games coming out so they can't depend on software sales making up for it either.

Should be $650 with disk drive included, then it could be considered a great value for those who want it. Sony also should have shown off actual new games as opposed to literal PS4 titles. Get GTA 6 footage, Ghost of Tsushima 2 footage, etc... Showing off 4+ year old games with slightly clearer images (over youtube) is wild.

There's just no reason for it. 1440p performance mode already looks good enough. Marginal increase in graphical fidelity, especially when the next console generation is like 2 years away, it just isn't really worth it to buy right now.
@@PlatinumState Phil Spencer said they're working on the next-gen console to release in 2026. Nintendo's next generation system is coming out next year. Sony is the only one banking on extending this generation.
There is no reason to even buy a PS5 Pro when the PS5 still plays PS4 games like old-generation hardware without developer support to patch or update PS4 games to fully utilize the PS5's capabilities.

People are going to trade in their slim ps5 (take out the disc drive so that they can keep it) as a digital console. Then use that credit towards the pro

I'll consider this a "pro" machine when it can play PS5 specific games at double the frame rates and noticeable improvement in visuals. The Xbox one could be considered a "pro" console if all you play on it is 360 games!
They obviously did this JUST to keep the September time frame they had planned. It wasn’t ready for primetime. For me, it seems common sense for an announcement you need a showcase of atleast 4 or 5 new exclusives and 4 or 5 new 3rd party “best place to play,” moments. They’ve had better reveals than this for Games. This is an entirely new console. And you’re showing the world…. Old games in graphics mode, with more stable framerates. Wow. Not really a way to sell, “this is only possible Here.”
It's the same price as a GPU, never understood why people have a issue with console prices. Everything under 1000 bucks its cheap because it lasts a generation...
First off, it's not under $1000 in some places, second, this lackluster generation is halfway over. PS6 will be announced in a few years. Plus, there are no games to take advantage of the slight upgrade. The current games barely take advantage of "next gen" consoles because they still have to make sure they can put 'em on the PS4.
Correction: GameStop dropped their trade in value the moment it was announced. Then they upped it again. - down from $410 to $385 to $231 for ps5 trade in value after announcement. - upped it to $357 I'm sure after huge blowback
Microsoft made the smart move by not doing the mid cycle refresh. If Sony had given us something worth the money, this conversation would be much different, but a larger SSD and slightly better video card just isn’t enough.
