Great video!, but i have one question, did you install both macOs and Windows on the same drive? Did you partitioned it?, and another one, did the wifi work?
nice restoration video but what about the battery portion? did you replace the batteries or simply just reuse it? does it still hold the charge if you reuse it? just a curious question.
Hi bro, i just make searching every day :D checking web pages like ebay, aliexpress, and others local websites, once a week or in 2 weeks i'm checking local computer stores that sell used components. Sometimes to find something takes over month or two
Yeah no. I've tried these games on HD3000 graphics and they definitely are not playable. Some well below 30fps and CS:GO can't maintain 30fps minimums.
@@haxorinator8219 ya I even on a 2600k desktop i7 and overclocked, those games simply wont play well Bad company 2 would be in the 20s and teens if you do 720p, csgo can be played in 800x600 but the framerate is not even going to touch 60 To be fair, many last gen AAA games could be played on it with low enough resolution
One changes I would make is to throw away the CD drive and replace it with 2.5 hdd caddy and add 1TB hard drive. Would complement really well with the Kingston 120gb SSD.
I rather use a 120GB ssd and have that 1TB Hdd in the caddy. That’s the setup I’m running on a E6520 I have lying around somewhere 🤣 I use it every now and then but I prefer using my Surface Pro 3
This guy is a freakin genius I tell you. But something tells me his cat is the mastermind behind this whole channel. The channel name is "Cat and Andrew", but we never see the cat do we now. Coincidence? I think not! Where is your cat overlord Andrew? Just blink thrice if you are being held against your will.
Thank you bro :D actually the Cat is person, the channel name and all is a long story :D however, we are working together but these projects mostly i doing alone :D filming, editing and all. btw i have cats and dogs also 😂
Literally 36 seconds into this vid and... yes... I do stuff like this all the time... just recently converted an old Celeron M laptop with 1.256 GB ram into a Windows XP arcade emulation BEAST... ROCK ON! I fully understand how you did this and what your about to do! Hackintosh and windows dual boot... but I think an Android option is missing TBH! :D
Great video. I've also upgraded one of my laptops from Celeron to i7, from 2 GB to 16GB, I even upgraded the motherboard and added an eGPU. Also for my gf I've covered the laptop in carbon fibre vinyl - black and gold - might worth checking the 2 videos. hehe
I also have this same laptop n5050. It has stock intel i3 and hd graphics 3000 and i've played GTA 4, Battlefield 3, CSGO, THE walking dead all seasons, The wolf among us, Bully, Harry Potter all parts, mafia 2, assaains creed revelations and many other medium spec games. It seems junk but it's pretty great for a potato pc. And i am still playing those games with minimal or no lag ai 30 fps. Thanks to some youtube tips❣️❣️❣️🤣
I don't understand. How did the BIOS recognize the i7 when the website said only up to i5 was supported? Is the chipset allow the i7 because it's the same socket??
Can be a bit pot luck. But what is officially supported and what actually works is often different. If you look up what CPU's the chipset on your motherboard supports, theres a good chance of said CPU's working even if not officially supported by your motherboard's manufacturer...
@Random Ryan Often for things like this, it just means said CPU hasn't been tested with the board. The manufacturer won't list it as compatible unless tested, but its rare to actually block untested CPUs that are compatible...
@@6robfoot That's not a security function, that's a temperature sensor telling the CPU its overheating and protecting the CPU by shutting itself off. If you can figure out a way of cooling the CPU your good. Install "hardware monitor" (free download) from cupid and run it to see the CPU temps. They'll be in the red I assure you.
Fuckin music was so bad my 🐈 said fuck this and left the room lol. Is it even an earthly language ??? I mean maybe only dolphins can understand what the song is saying LMAO. But this guy is a genius ! Hands down. Just busting on him.
I just read the description in under 30 seconds, paused the video, found your comment and am now leaving this comment ranting about this shit music. It's like if Pixar would animate a cocaine-addicted mouse that also inhales helium, but play it at 4x speed for extra destruction.
hey, my first laptop! I had the i5 one, and it's still going as the family desktop! It absolutely cannot play games, and the fan is louder than most planes. I skinned it just like you did, then painted it (which I regret immensely)
Andrew: now let's move into the display Me who have seen 60%of the videos in his channel: of course, he will use 96% of alcohol. Andrew: we will use *70%* of alcohol. Me: *Impossible!*
No they will probably have less of a heating issue, because it will be harder for a normal user to max out the capabilities of this machine. Also, an SSD does not create heat like a normal hard drive would, so that in it self removed a small percentage of heat in side that old computer's set up. Plus he cleaned the inside very well so air circulation should not be an issue.
I got one of these in pieces, no screws, broken screen, no hard disk and it rained on its parts, but mine had an I5 2410m. I replaced its screen with another one I had laying around from an old netbook, put a 240gb SSD on it, added more ram (total 8gb now) and now I use it as my daily driver. Ill add a caddy to it and upgrade the motherboard someday.
Hi bro, i'm not exactly sure about brand or type, but this skin is pretty thick, just skin is like a A4 paper from printer and is little bit more expensive than others. i got this skin in local car vinyl workshop, but these foils/skins are available on ebay also with worldwide cheap or free shipping
This channel is cool and full of info bout laptop restoration, no useless speech....just 100% pure info. This is what i need, thank you bcuz i was be able to restore my old laptop 👍🥺
with the endless amount of e-waste being discarded in landfills anyone repurposing a old/broken/unwanted electronics is a winner in my book . Awesome channel.
@@elfedorausado precisely not only would it help the enviroment, Helping other countries lacking computers in their infrastructure such as hospitals and schools etc.
Your carbon fiber graphite-look materials choices and execution are superb. What a pleasure to see you resurrect dated hardware and make it work a decade or more later.
The N5050 is pretty good to use as long as you have some patience with it. I've had it myself. Upgraded the RAM to 8GB and it worked fine. but you don't have to expect to run mid range games on it and high workloads to run normal on it.
I liked your content, voiceover and presentation style. You’ve got a subscriber 👍. Also, Please make a video about how to install fully functional mac on windows pc without using mac. In this video you’ve used mac.
Thank you bro and thank you for subscribing. If you want clean install then you need access to macOS but that doesn't mean actual Mac. You can download and install macOS in virtual machine in Windows and there you can create Boot USB installer. ( this is my old guide about creating Boot USB ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xJHlN1C5pPw.html ) You need access in macOS because almost all tools are available for macOS only
@@romanmakarov4973 You are wrong. I was gonna buy highest CPU for my laptop but it was 45W instead 35W. Then i found my laptop same model with high CPU and the topic was not CPU. Topic was "My Laptop Goes Heat Even Idle"
Hi Andrew. After watching a few of your videos, I now have decided to subscribe.. My only question is, where do you buy those junk laptops for your projects? It's pretty awesome. And by the way, the addition of music on dead-silent part is a great improvement from your previous videos..
Hi bro, thank you for subscribing and supporting me, some of these parts am getting from local computer stores that sell used parts, some are from local auctions, but also some stuff is from ebay, aliexpress, banggood and am searching local websites, where peoples sell their old electronics, with local i mean almost every town or country has some page/website where peoples offer/sell/buy used stuff ( cars, bikes, electronics, other stuff )
Cool video, but i tried the i7-2670qm cpu on my dell n5050. The pc doesnt boot with the new cpu. Is it possible that this cpu is incompatible wirh the new bios update a05 for the n5050?
The i7-2670qm fits this laptop. The reason may be that the processor is faulty or you installed the processor incorrectly in the socket. The triangles on the socket and the processor case must match.
Really nice to see such an old warhorse get so much love! I hope to see the day when consumers don't consider their purchases as single-use items. Great video Andrew, cheers! edit: BG music is fine.
lol, when I recently got my moms old laptop and found out all her laptop needed was new thermal paste, I pulled so hard one of the wires torn in half XD. Anyways I've learned I got to be careful with laptop when I work on them.
I was thinking of doing something useful with some of my older laptops instead of throwing them away because throwing away older laptops is basically wasting and the things I plan on doing with one of my old laptops is adding 2 screens on each sides of the laptop
Omg. I was just watching one of your other video and commented about a 10 year old computer restoration I'm going to attempt. This computer you're working on is way lesser than mines, yet you are able to do so much to it for lesser than what I was going to spend. I am so inspired to bargain hunt and scavenge now! Lol

Excellent video Andrew, Thanks for sharing the details in such depth. I found a laptop in the dumpster and I want to recreate a duplicate of your project!!! Thank you so much friend...
Hi, Andrew, this video is fantastic. The links to the files Clover Boot-loader:, Clover Configurator and all other Files aren't working. Any ideas? Please, let me know. Thank you!
