William Gowling Riverdale is like OC California with these rich kids... not relatable at all. And i didn't even finish the first season because it had such lame storytelling, i asked myself after 7(?) episodes: What is this show about? I didn't have a clue honestly.
but that was the point of Love, Simon. A kid who has everything can still struggle with their sexuality. I haven't seen Riverdale, but from what I heard, that wasn't the message of that show
Ikr, i wouldve never guessed he was 22, he looks so much like a teenager! And hes an amazing actor too! Honestly, this movie was so compelling! It touched me so hardddd! The feels 💗🙌🏻
Nick is so precious trying to make a reference on Yess Queen! I love him so much for it. I hope that he grows more and more as an actor in the future. He is such a talent, as well as Katherine and Alexandra.
Gosh darn it, Nick is so adorable. First the fact that he said “Yes, Queen!” And snapped while he did it 😍. And the fact that right after he asked “Is that okay to say?” 😂😍
WHY IS GAMORA?! Same. Im gay AND black which makes it even worse that I don't even know HOW underrepresented I am or can explain what its like. The fact that Blue ended up being someone that was neither stereotypically black nor stereotypically gay black (i.e. RuPaul, Todrick Hall) was just everything.
Zoe Swett fr, I remember that scene with Cheryl & Betty in season 1, Cheryl was in a bra only, in the locker room, but she could’ve easily been dressed like wth¿
I absolutely love just how nick is sitting there when the are talking about breast’s and waists and lingerie and not saying anything - just sitting there like he’s used to it (which he probably is)
Movies with gay characters have come along way since the 90s. See "Parting Glances" "Fun Down THere" and "Eban and Charlie". Only small independent movie companies would produce that kind of movie. Today mega companies have finally begun to make LGBT movies that we can relate to. Finally! I hope we NEVER go back to the 90s
My name is Wagner, I'm Brazilian, and I want to say how much you congratulate for looking after the movie, Nick Robson you're extraordinary, and that's little compared to where you can get congratulations to "everyone" we love you.
I'd say it isn't that there isn't enough representation, it's that it isn't done properly. They show a gay guy as feminine or a lesbian as butch instead of just a normal person.
I find that ironic because (especially in the book) Bram is a soccer player and a jock. While Simon is into theatre and such, i think he's well portrayed. (Just my opinion 😄)
so if a gay guy is "feminine" then they're not a normal person? There are more feminine guys out there, and they deserve representation too. I think the movie did well in including both "masculine" gay men as well as a "feminine" one, who not to mention presents an extremely intelligent viewpoint and is used as a device to discuss bullying in schools.
Enjogior I'm not saying they aren't normal I'm just saying that more often then not it is portrayed that feminine is the only version there is, I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just saying that it's shown as this is a guy and everything about him is gay rather than this is a guy and everything about him is that he's a guy and he happens to like guys
I totally agree. By over sexualizing girls, we also make the standers boys have even higher even though that's a bad thing when the already set standards are hard to reach
why is katherine trying so hard with the american accent? you’re not acting anymore you can relax. why do so many australian celebrities try to water down their accents? we’re not that hard to understand
I have seen some comments on here that pissed me off. Seems like some people are against gay feminine men. I am a mixture of both so does that mean we are shit? Idk
And this is coming from a gay person. These stories are important and should be handled with care and grace, the sexuality of the actor doesn’t matter as long as they are doing their job which is delivering a quality performance.
i’m pretty sure they were going for a kid who wasn’t the cliche gay kid or “obviously” gay. they wanted to break that stereotype that all gay people act the same. and i think nick really did a great job portraying simon even tho he’s not gay. there really wasn’t a point where you thought simon wasn’t gay.
Also, Greg Berlanti, the man who directed the movie, is gay which makes it so it is not just a ton of straight people depicting what it's like to be gay.
I love how they keep rewriting history to try to market films using identity politics. This is far from the first mainstream film with a gay protagonist, what is that girl smoking? Even sillier than saying Black Panther was the first black superhero.
Albert Scott what they mean I suppose, it's a major studio backed and released coming out film. The other films were produced by small independent companies, versus this one by 20th Century Fox.
I could not even finish this clip because some of the replies seemed scripted and were not articulated well. Nick was the only one to get his points across. Hope this is not a bad comment but I just feel someone on a promotional tour for a film should know the subject and the film better.
if you watch the movie, it's nowhere near a political movie-it was sweet and simple and full of energy so no, I don't think the movie itself pushes an agenda
Aoife Why'd you make it into a gender issue? People are allowed to disagree with an opinion, no matter if it comes from a female or a male. It doesn't automatically mean that people are sexist just because they don't agree with a female's opinion, which, in this case, wasn't even about gender in the first place. Nobody made a single sexist remark except you. Not everything is about gender.
Bam Bi The fact that you watched this video and thought it wasn't about gender says a lot. This interview is almost entirely about gender, be that woman's representation in media or the prevalence of heteronormativity in Hollywood. Men are rarely accused of having "agendas"; in contrast women who have opinions on gender/sexuality/etc are *always* accused of having an agenda. If you read more widely and engaged some critical thought you would realize this and understand what it means.
Aoife The fact that you thought my comment was about the video says a lot. I am aware of the issues this interview brought to light and that gender was one of them but I disagree that it was almost entirely about it. It was mainly about LGBT representation in media and the over sexualization of teenagers of both genders. They are not gender problems, they are human problems. My original reply was in response to yours stating "Women with opinions? Scary right." That was not relevant to anything stated previously following the original comment. Nobody was questioning her right to post that comment, they were merely stating their own opinions. While some of them were unnecessarily rude, that doesn't make it a gender issue as you seemed to assume. This particular conversation was not about gender in the slightest until you made it appear so, just as you're making the video out to be primarily about something it's not. Perhaps if you stopped jumping to conclusions and making everything about gender, it wouldn't be a gender issue, as is the reality. Don't try to undermine my opinions with cheap insults. It won't work. Stick to the topic.
