It is easier to get rich in a growing area if you are there from the beginning. Once a place of growth is final, it is harder to achieve wealth.

These OMD vlogs ARE very informative & interesting, too!! I, myself, have to “listen” more than look because the visuals do hop around in timeframes. But, please, don’t let that discourage you!! More people do need to think about & be informed about “wealth” vs. “some money,” I believe. Not for purposes of demonizing the families, but for purposes of gaining some perspective as to the society itself. It’s skillful the way everything presented is respectful of people’s privacy, freedom, & personal rights. Not happening on most other “human interest” or even news channels at all, nowadays. The Roosevelts & the Carnegies seem to have had the longest reach in shaping NYC. But when you look at shipping, transporting goods, markets, etc. it could’ve really been the Morgans, the Rockefellers or the Vanderbilts. Only people there today would know best, I imagine. The Astors, Whitneys, the vanishing OMs et al., do make people yearn for a seemingly simpler, less complex, less complicated era for going into business, for venturing into capital. But the ruthlessness, while considerably understated here, certainly sounds quite familiar & modern to me. I particularly like the recountings of how people faced the general public, if at all. Or how they managed their opposition from positions of seemingly-human vulnerability. Best wishes with the channel! 💐🍁🍂🍀💐 The content sells itself! 🍾🛡⚔️⛴🛟💴💎💶💵

I’ve been aware of the uniqueness of NYC (politically & socially), since I was a toddler. It was my godparents’ hometown & my family & I visited it frequently. When I was in undergrad in CT, MOST of my schoolmates were also New Yorkers. I cannot recall a time in life when I, & the rest of the Eastern Seaboard, were not somehow under its global influence, one way or another. Having shared this somewhat insignificant insight however, I can assure you, having lived the rest of my own life in GA, that it, too, has had no small share in shaping influences and perceptions of people far beyond its shores in quite another manner altogether. As such, while money, wealth, erudition & innovation have indeed been nowhere more cultivated & encouraged to flourish than NYC, the preponderant overall power dynamic between the USA-concept, & the rest of the planet remains firmly fixed on race & racial constructs as designed. In pre-determining who is subject to mistreatment, & who lives in subordination to whom else, race, far more than money, remains the ultimate determining factor. Black “wealth” in one of the top-wealthiest nation-concepts on planet Earth, retains no capital monopolies, no ownership of districts, of schools, of mineral resources, oceanic nor plant-based resources, neither here nor abroad, & certainly has no military formation to back any claims it may make collectively. It remains the lowest, least-accrued of all wealth holdings compared against all other subsequently migrating groups of varying ethnicities & varying assimilations into “Americanism,” whether undertaken recently or long, long ago. Black people’s so called “wealth” isn’t even theirs on the continent of Afrika from which they originated, & where its people became entirely subjugated to especially-designed systemic mistreatment, throughout the global diaspora, by every known empire formed since Rome became one. I’d admit to greater individual impact, but it’s not important anymore. I LIKE hearing the stories of families said to have acquired wealth legally, legitimately, with some degree of earnestness. I’m fine reading between the lines, ignoring the historical omissions, & grasping the implications to Nonwhite people, explicitly & implicitly. I DO have good reading comprehension, thanks to my own diversity in influences, which helps me to understand narratives. WHEN the stories of accumulating power, affluence, privileges, positioning & fame include an equal time/energy fervor toward altruism and compassion, they’ll be nearly-equally human in scope to the histories of The Moors & the ancient Mesozoic Americans, whose own wealth in humanity & “humane” character was clearly, evidently most vast beyond measure. ♥️🪷🌲🕯⚖️💕

In 1899, Teddy Roosevelt wanted to be the VP candidate, but McKinley's first term VP, Garret Hobart, refused to step aside, but then Hobart died in Nov. 1899, age 55. TR and McKinley were elected to office November, 1900. McKinley was assassinated September 1901 and TR became president. McKinley’s campaign manager, Sen. Mark Hanna, wanted to challenge TR in the 1904 GOP presidential primary. Hanna died in February 1904. TR was reelected in November 1904.

@INkosi_Sandile
@INkosi_Sandile 10 месяцев назад
Good day Old Money, this is going to be a very long reply so brace yourself/yourselves. I have seven money families for you and two who's fortunes have lost most of their allure. 1. Oppenheimer family (Patriarch: Harry Oppenheimer). 2. Rupert family (Patriarch: Anton Rupert). Then there are families that can possibly be classified as new money. 3. Steyn family (Patriarch: Douw Steyn). 4. Wiese family (Patriarch: Christo Wiese). 5. Maponya family (Patriarch: Richard Maponya). 6. Motsepe family (Patriarch: Augustine Motsepe). In the case of South Africa (and much of the African continent with the possible exception of Ethiopia) you will find limited representation of indigenous African families in Old Money circles. This is because of the continent's colonial past and particularly in South Africa which later had Apartheid. Nearly all of the indigenous African Old Money families are of Royal lineage, that is understandable as many of them were better positioned to partake in trade on the continent and with the rest of the world even when conditions were no longer conducive for the general populace. To this point the last family I suggest you research is Royal, now I know you often speak of inherited wealth and privilege in a negative way. You make the point that many entrepreneurial and industrious Europeans left Europe for the 'new world' to escape Monarchy and inherited privilege e.g. Andrew Carnegie. However our story on the African continent is more nuanced. Take for example the fact that people of Royal lineage were often first in line to receive a western education and the colonial authorities were more lenient with them e.g. Nelson Mandela. Money families are characterised by the same things wherever you find them in the world they intermarry and are intricately connected to politics. Examples of this are Richard Maponya (N.o 5 on the list) who was married to Nelson Mandela's cousin and Patrice Motsepe (Son of Augustine Motsepe N.o 6 on the list) who is brother-in-law to South African's incumbent president, Cyril Ramaphosa. 7. Royal Bafokeng family ( Monarch: King Leruo Molotlegi). The Royal Bafokeng's sovereign wealth fund has +4 Billion USD assets under management. Lastly, so far as not having a lot of genuine Old Money families seriously take into account the effect of African's disposition of wealth at the hands of other peoples of the world (the English, French and Portuguese) consider also the fact that the U.S.A was founded in the year 1776 and some of the families that would later become money families in the U.S.A (some of which were involved in the slave trade or benefited from salve labour and later other nefarious business dealings e.g. Joseph P. Kennedy Sr.) had storied histories in Europe. In our case the Union of South Africa, which was the historical predecessor to the present day Republic of South Africa was only founded in the year 1910. The matter of African people's disposition of wealth at the hands of other peoples of the world speaks to being able to keep your wealth and then passing it on to your progeny. In certain instances people were able to keep their land (representing their wealth) or were able to get it back later, as was the case with the Royal Bafokeng. As you know Old Money property/land is the linchpin of wealth creation. To that point Patrice Motsepe's father was 'Chief' Augustine Butanna Chaane Motsepe. I put 'Chief' in inverted commas because calling a King 'Chief' isn't only condescending it's treason! The two families who's fortunes have lost some of their allure are: 1. Musk family (Patriarch: Errol Mask). 2. Kerzner family (Patriarch: Sol Kerzner 23 August 1935 - 21 March 2020). African's true history is being rediscovered and her story retold from a balanced view point free from racial prejudice and imperial ambitions. Old Money you have a marvelous opportunity to differentiate your channel/channels or possibly create new ones, piggybacking on the success of the ones that already exist, that look at money families in emerging markets. If you end up creating such channels may I please be one of your contributors. Writing this reply alone took it out of me and because of that I wouldn't want to start a RU-vid channel myself. If you ever decide to make a channel or episodes on Ancient Money or Ancient Empires look up: 1. Mensa Musa 2. Mapungubwe 3. Mutapa Empire, Mwenemutapa I think you're doing a great job I love all of your work ❤️ PS. I know some people will be asking themselves about the Zulu Royal family. I'm sorry they don't make it onto any rich list however they are very powerful and influential.

@@steeleru7burgh903 Most of us with any common sense won't! Too liberal, too expensive, too fast in more ways than 1. My brother married a New Yorker and the things he explained to me were a total turn off. His wife has the New York mindset. When they lived there when you moved you went from 1 rent controlled apt to another. That isn't freedom, that isn't even opportunity. Not to mention that even though the Rockefeller name isn't as black and white since 911 they still basically own the port and all the surrounding areas. Rockefellers hide their dirty works to make it seem they built America. However they did not, they tricked people took advantage of the everyday citizen. They bought out all medical schools so we are stuck with the baloney we have today, nothing natural. Only Dr. that focus on enabling whatever ails you and not curing it. Yep you can have New York City, Manhattan, ROCKEFELLERS, Rothschilds the whole bunch of the crooked crowd of supposed old money. Lets just call it old theft because that is what it was, any philanthropy they did was to built them up, it had nothing to do with actually helping and being concerned. If it was they wouldn't be retaining and marrying into "money" families. Yrs ago we bought a house, once they knew we had excellent credit J.P. Morgan company tried to get us to sell our mortgage to them. I have never liked nor respected the J.P. Morgan or any other Morgan name.
