Thank you so much for this. I have an instrument labeled 1893 Scarbi. I doubt its authentic, but I love knowing at least about who it was made to imitate, if not the actual maker. Thank you so much for sharing this history along with the beautiful restoration process.
Excellent! In future similar videos, please turn the music down when the gouge is paring down the spruce! It's the most beautiful sound! Interesting lateral and transverse "wet clamping" to work out the f-hole / wing distortion. A very nice video!!! French polish or a spirit varnish top coat over the original varnish? She's a beauty. Having greatly enjoyed the restoration work, I would like to have heard someone bow a melody on this violin.
