The “TRUE” Sonic Forces Good Intro & Bad Intro 

This is a little late response but personally, I don't mind a sonic game being a little dark. Games like adventure 2, shadow the hedgehog and sonic 06 have clearly proven that sonic isn't always a cartoon-like series (or at least at this point.) I think it makes sonic a little unique and different from most games by having innocent characters thrown into a darker scenario. I agree that it doesn't fit sonics image, but I don't think that makes a game BAD. Forces had many flaws with physics and level design but before everything, people were hyped for the story because it was offering something new instead of the cheesy dialogue in lost world and colors. Forces failed in the end, but it was very clear that they were at least trying to make a better sonic game this time around. But hey, that's what we got mania for.

For me the game wasn't even edgy enough. Still the point of the game was somehow missing. It was a good thought though, but not a finished thought. Sonic was just too happy and stuff... pretty strange behavior for a world that somehow is at his end.

In fact, more dark Sonic games have been made than the childish ones! It IS what Sonic is, and the recent games aren't what Sonic is.

Also, your "message" of Sonic Forces being too dark is poorly done. I thought this was just some cutscenes mixed to make it look like Classic Sonic came in late to make some what-if bad ending. Sonic Forces story is to DARK and that is not what Sonic is??? From what planet are you??? Sorry but I hate this argument but before Colors was there not a single really light hearted main series Sonic game (and even most of the Spin offs weren't) And before you even start to think about using the Classics Do I may remind you that half of all Sonic 1 Levels were rather Dark especially Scrap brain being the anti-Green hill zone. Sonic 2 and 3 is even more blatant with thinks like a Rival (knuckles) or Fighting A Giant Gundame on the Death Star as a Super Saiyajin ironical if this tribute to DBZ and Star Wars doesn't show for what ton Sonic was aiming that I don't know what to say... OH wait I know exactly what to say Sonic Cd not only are opening and ending cut like action scenes in a Shonen but each level comes with a bad future with are always Dark and depressing. Adventure with stories about genocide by a demigod 4000 years ago and events are about to repeat it self only took what the Classic did and bring it to a new level. And this was so far only the games other than Adventures of Sonic the hedgehog and a rather short lived third party manga series was every peace of out side Sonic media in the 90s edgy to the EXTREM with SatAm post issue 25 Archie Comics, post Issue 4 Fleetway Comics, the Sonic OVA, Sonic Underground and most of the commercials. And I already seen you want to use the "Sonic is a Cartoon figure so you can't take him serious" and I am really sick of this excuse not only did most of this overly dark and edge sonic material sell pretty well but more importantly are the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles also a series based on Cartoon animals doing dark and Mature things and this series is running strong even to this day. And even more dooming to this argument is that Nintendo of all companies also has there own set of super serious and Dark Cartoon Animals with the Star Fox series and I can tell you this Assault is darker than just about any sonic game and Commands darkest endings let Shadows look like Care bears by comparison. So seriously were do you get the Idea from that Sonic is suppose to be Kiddy when even his reason for existing are tied to being edgy to attract an audience that Mario couldn't and the modern Designs were made the way there are to appeal to older audience than the Classic ones. I probably sounded like a mean spirited Hater but I have read and heard this argumentation so many times and I just had to release my anger so no personal attack but I just don't get your logic.

For me, Sonic was meant to be dark, Sega Genesis was created to be the "edgier" version of SNES, the more dark the story is, the more interesting it is That's why I'm unhappy with lost world, it's too cartoony. sonic forces and sonic mania are actually connected to each other and you can see that in sonic mania adventures. in the first episode, sonic teleported into the classic island, and, if you will look good enough, you will see that he's in the exact same position from the ending of sonic forces. a phantom ruby prototype appears in sonic mania with sonic. BUT, sonic mania not only starts from sonic forces, sonic forces also starts from sonic mania! after you defeat the real final boss, sonic and the phantom ruby prototype will be sucked in to a portal that was created by the chaos emeralds and the PRP, and in sonic forces, when tails meets classic sonic, he got out of a portal in the exact same color and shape from sonic mania! so after sonic forces's adventure finished, sonic teleports back to his time, starts another adventure, and in the end of it, he goes back to the adventures of sonic forces, and again, and again, and agaiiiiiiin............. classic sonic will never rest again

I like dark and badass the games way better than the cheesy and cringy games I mean look at sonic adventure 1 and 2 and then look at sonic boom... yup I wouldn't disagree either. Sonic Forces was dark? Heck no! Sonic Forces was lighthearted! The classic sonic Games had some dark moments, you know? Sonic CD had bad futures which looked awful, and it's music had a dark feel. The Game Gear version of Sonic 2 had Tails die in the bad ending. Knuckles Chaotix had Metal Sonic create genocide in the bad ending. Dr. Robotnik stuffed animals into slaved robots, and created factories and chemical plants that ruined the air and water, which had dark toned stages with purple and grays. And the first zone of Sonic 3 was caught on fire. You think that's lighthearted? Yes, Sonic is always lighthearted series, but it had a nice balance of dark moments too. And I think Sonic Forces balanced it well, it just needed a better story. Sonic was always lighthearted, but he had a serious side.

Too dark for Sonic? Kingdom Hearts literally edges Mickey Mouse and no complains as long as the story makes it good and reasonable. Shadow's story is by far the darkest in the Sonic canon yet it was understandble and makes you feel for the guy.
