ever since i switched from photoshop to gimp i've been missing the adjustment layers. will definitely look out for affinity!

The affinity software looks like it could be what I´m looking for, a reasonably cheap, non-subscription, all in one photo editor, thank you for the recommendation. I tried to use GIMP for the "flambient" technique for real estate photography as shown in a Nathan Cool tutorial, using OM workspace, but it is a little "clunky"! I tried to find an auto align layers in the help section for affinity, with no luck. Any suggestions?

This looks great. Since I mainly use Adjustment Layers in Photoshop for dodge and burn exposure can't GIMP do that? The steps are (1) new layer with totally maxed out exposure (2) totally black mask on that layer (3) paint white on the mask with brush at 5% - 10% and gradually bring in the effect. (1) Can current GIMP do that? (3) Can Affinity? Thank you for your videos -- I am leaving the Evil Empire and checking out options.

I am primarily on Linux, sorry, I know and aware of Affinity’s work. I know software dev is the cheap (I am looking to be one among other things), but I will stick with Gimp. That said, I usually elevate Affinity as a photo editor when people ask me for general graphics, which actually happens a lot. Imo, while I like Gimp, It is not as intuitive and sometimes not as stable as a program. I usually only recommend Gimp for basic projects or if you have the time and are fine with a steeper learning curve. It is not too bad actually. I am however glad you posted your old stuff here since I came to your old channel for Gimp. There is plenty of room for a single paid for license that isn’t the performance steal of Adobe nor the free but unstable unperformant gimp at times.

Thank you. Nice explanation. I occasionally use photo editing software and I use Gimp. My opinion is that someone who deals with photo editing on a daily basis should switch to a paid tool. For other users, this is not necessary, it is overkill

I have used Affinity since it was launched in version 1. It is superb and for what it is, very cheap.

Maybe. It depends. If GIMP 3.0 arrives soon... probably not. If it doesn't, more likely, yes.

Not as cheap as we are made to believe in this video; Here is the true price..Purchase either the Windows or macOS version for a one-off payment of A$119.99 or get the entire suite on all platforms for only A$274.99 with the Universal Licence. You can also buy the iPad version on its own for A$29.99.
