Very, very well done, Jon. The D11 chord is so often played and taught as Aminor7 (Am7), but you can clearly hear the bass (Berry Oakley) going back and forth from the D root to the V note (A) below, then to the D# (Eb) note against the band playing Cm7. I saw the original ABB play it, and I know you are correct. Their version of “Stormy Monday” has been the standard for over 50 years now. T-Bone and Bobby Blue Bland set the bar high but The Allman Brothers Band topped it. Outstanding tutorial!

SWEET! I heard the first chord, with it's hint of reverb -- I was immediately transported back to that concert. I'm a bassist, and I thank you for breaking it down so meticulously.

Nice job....my favorite band.... I'm old enough to have seen them three times with Duane, Berry, Dickie, Greg, Butch and Jaimo way back in 1970 and 1971..... Duane and Dickie taught me everything I know about playing the guitar.....self taught... listening to the Live at the Fillmore East album....no RU-vid back then

Once again JonMacLennan demonstates excellence in teaching. I have played for about 4-5 months, have taken his first 2 courses. It's hard to believe that in several hours I have learned ther esentials of Stormy Monday. He is very clear and the camera work is excellent.

Fantastic lesson by a brilliant musician. Tablature would've been very beneficial to someone such as myself who can't necessarily see the placement of the hands and on what strings. If you wouldn't mind and have the time could you please provide all of the tablature for this song. Thank you in advance, Jeff

Hi Jon awesome lesson and im really going to learn this song and get some of these chords into my blues playing more often especially that augmented chord. I would love for you to do a lesson of it hurts me too - john mayall & the bluesbreakers. Peter Green's lead playing is absolutely incredble and i think is a great example of using the major pentatonic and some mixolydian ideas too! thanks

John great vid…exactly the arrangement I was looking for. Took about an hour to get it down. Plenty of room for my own fills to fit in the groove. Now I just need to my vocals tight with this arrangement…that’ll be interesting. My Buddy will do the solos on harmonica. Thanks again great vid.

Great lesson, but a shame that you give no credit to Wayne Bennett, who played on the Bobby Bland version. The Allan’s cover lifts his chord work in its entirety.

Great video. Clear, understandable and well taught. Some RU-vidrs can play the guitar, but cannot teach it effectively. You can do both. Anyway, annexed is a link to my own “Stormy Monday” cover, inspired by your excellent tutorial. If you have time to listen, please check it out with good headphones as I put a huge effort into arranging it!! Thanks again. “Stormy Monday”: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VwmkApknJ_g.html
