#BananaIsland. The billionaire's playground in #Lagos #Nigeria. This is actually home to some of the finest houses and richest people in Africa...The properties in this island are usually sold for millions of US dollars.
Celebrities, business moguls, politicians are known to live in Banana Island. Some of the famous people who live here include, musician Davido, billionaires like Aliko Dangote, Mike Adenuga successful blogger Linda Ikeji and so many more..
Banana Island is a man-made island in Lagos State Nigeria. It is built on reclaimed land from the ocean. Did you know that Banana Island is slightly curved in shape - like a banana hence where it got it's name?
A plot of land here costs approximately $1M

No, Banana Island was not reclaimed from the ocean, it was reclaimed from the lagoon. It is not on the ocean front. It's really an extension of Ikoyi. Growing up in Lagos in the 1970s, the rear of Ikoyi where Banana Island is today was known as Ikoyi Park, a marshy area that was something of a nature preserve. This area was sand filled and extended into the lagoon. This portion of the Lagos Lagoon where Banana Island is located is known as Five Cowries Creek.
@interestingthingstoknow8975
@interestingthingstoknow8975 2 года назад
You are very right...my family lived in this area back then and I was born in the Ikoyi area....the area was really marshy but so serene in the 70's.
@wwswewillsee9335
@wwswewillsee9335 2 года назад
Reclaimed from the lagoon or sea, is it not technology that was used for the task? Are you aware that the word Lagos in Portuguese means lagoon. Go and study world geography and history once again. Are you aware that there is also a place in Portugal called Lagos and it has closeness to the Atlantic Ocean? The location of Lagos on the map of Nigeria looks similar to Lagos on the map of Portugal.
@Bio54633
@Bio54633 2 года назад
@@wwswewillsee9335 So what is the relevance of your comment? Did anyone make any reference to technology? Also, I'm not sure that any of the authors of the previous comments on this thread require a history or geography lesson about Lagos from you. It's a city each of us is very familiar with. 🤔

NIGERIANS ARE THE MOST ENVIED PEOPLE ON EARTH, ANYTHING THEY DO PROGRESS. I LOVE NIGERIANS. THEY ARE SMART , WHAT EVER THE PUT THERE MIND TO DO, THEY WILL BRING THE BEST OF THE BEST OUT OF IT. MOST AFRICA COUNTRIES CANT STAND WITH FOREIGN INVESTORS, BUT IN NIGERIA, THEY OWN 99% ASSET IN THERE COUNTRY. THEY EVEN HAVE MORE INDUSTRIES IN MANY AFRICANS COUNTRIES. NIGERIA ARE THE MOST BLESS IN AFRICA.

Stone paved roads (not cheap substandard asphalt), underground electricity cables and top notch security are something very special. I haven't seen any stone paved road and underground cables in other African cities. Other African cities need to start planning that too.

Beautiful vlog indeed. You see how busy you are saying all nice things about your country meanwhile you go about saying trash about Ghana on every video on youtube? A little advice for you, people love Ghana for many reasons, beyond the buildings, roads etc Ghana is loved for many important things so you nigerians should figure it out and work on yourselves. You can have all the best buildings, best cities in your country but if you lack electricity, peace, good security and well mannered citizens the foreigners will come but they will go elsewhere🇬🇭 so fix your dirty attitude and all other things will fall in place cos hating on Ghana will not change the fact that your International Airports are full of beggers, hating on Ghana will not change the fact that your country is largely unsafe and hating on Ghana will not change the fact that your people are commiting crimes in other countries. But thank God I'm not a Nigerian 👍😌😎
