Great question Luiz - and in short, the balance between "work" and non-work (which, as you mentioned, can blend) is tough. And honestly, it's a balance that might change or adjust over time. For your example, it makes sense that you might want to lean in and put significant amount of time developing your craft of being a software developer. And thus, spend a lot of time, energy, and focus toward your job. However, I would say that this doesn't necessarily need to come at the cost of other aspects of life, like sleeping well, spending time with friends, and working out / maintaining hobbies. Additionally, you may find in a couple years that you might want to develop other skills, such as management or leadership. In that case, it might make less sense for you to spend as much time on your developer skills and more time managing people and leading projects. What do you think about this^?

Good question Rory - it's happened, but usually is pretty rare. And when it does happen, it's either because (1) I didn't properly explain how / when I'll get my work done by, or (2) a timeline or deadline updated in a way I didn't know prior But 99% of the time, the push for flexibility - especially if I communicate expectations around timeline / deadline of the work - is always received well
