If Marc Andre Fleury's save at #4 wouldn't have been 3 seconds left in game 7 of the Stanley cup finals, it wouldn't have been in the top million best saves in NHL history.
It’s the most clutch timely save in history literally a Stanley cup winning save. He was going to save any shot on the planet at that moment imo. And the intensity, holy fuck it don’t get more pressure than that!
@TPS .mike, its great to see that you've brought more hockey to this channel. Thank you. Do best NHL snipes of all time. And, or, best snipers of all time
Kudos for putting Nabby's save in here. That came in Game 6 of the West semifinals in '08. Dallas won to advance to the Cup Finals, but Nabby stood on his head all the way into the 4th OT. Unbelievable game.
Frankie Marcellino when the Blackhawks played the Kings and a goal that Toews scored didn't count because a Kings player pushed him into the goalie and they called goalie interference
There happens to be a 19-year old goalie who will soon be giving you some more of these. He's currently on pace to break the WHL record for single season GAA (1.53) and career shutouts and was the netminder for gold medalist team Canada at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships. His name is Carter Hart.
Funny. As I'm watching this, waiting for The Dominator to come up once or twice on this list, I started getting a suspicion that he might have been overlooked, SOMEHOW. I was getting ready to type a snarky comment about it also. Then you came through in the end. And you were pretty much justified for putting all 4 of those in the top slot as you did. The thing about Hasek was his style lends itself perfectly for flashy, highlight rel stops. Which of course birthed the now common saying in hockey, "Hasek-like save". The guy was just unbelievable. I'll never forget the 98 Olympics as a Canadien fan watching Hasek play for the Czech national team and thinking that there was no damn way anyone was gonna beat this guy this year.
For the record, Dominik Hasek is the best goalie my eyes have ever seen. That said, the P. Roy stick save never gets old & is easily the G.O.A.T. In my humble opinion, of course.
I love the classic pad stack saves. Do a "Most Important NHL Players of All Time". I'd personally put Jacques Plante pretty high, but I guess I can leave it... to the pros? I'll show myself out now.
Im a HUGE Flyer fan and my Fav save ever was the Caron one. Ill never forget seeing it live. I was cheering and applauding for the other team but I always give credit where credit is due. What Caron did was out of this world. Second would be the Flames goaltender Fred Brathwaite. Although that is in contention with some of the Dominators saves. Hasek had some unbelievable saves. Tough to pick for my #2.
I feel like it's hard to pick only 10 of the best saves because there's so many other saves that I could name that deserve to be on this list. Too many amazing saves to limit the list to 10
Voynov, LA Kings vs Rangers, 2014 SCF. He was a wife-beater but he also pulled off a save that kept the game going and eventually would result in the Kings winning their second SC in two years.
That Hasek 'save' where he screams into the slot and takes the shooter out.....CLASSIC! and, I'm not just saying that because I'm a Redwings fan.............
Martin Biron vs The Flyers' Andy Delmore, that save needs to be on this list. And if the Nabokov save makes this list then so does Bryzgalov's save on the Penguins' Kris Letang in the 2012 playoffs.
That one save by Marc-Andre Fleury where it bounced off the top post of the goal, then it should've bounced off his back and went in but he reached is glove behind his back and caught it without even looking...
Kirk McLean's two-pad stack in overtime of Game 7 in the 1994 first round against a perfectly executed 2-on-1 never gets any love. My personal favorite save of all tme
You gotta think you're some kind of badass goalie when you make the opposing team look like dummies celebrating nothing because they all thought it was a goal.
Everyone has ones they remember two that come to mind for me are.. First is one my favs of all-time CUJO for the Oilers game 7 vs Stars even he was shocked, then the Oilers go back down the ice off the faceoff and score. Grant Fuhr Sabres vs Jets regular season but what a glove.
