I don't think embid and harden chocked. I just think Boston had a better team with more depth. It's the same thing with the Phenix Suns besides Durant and Booker who else did they have that stepped up. That being said my opinion is based on just this season
@TOASTxJ4M I wouldn't put it all on Doc, but he's not done any favors for his reputation over the years. Doesn't help his star players did the same thing.
@@hitagi9558 Steph stats say he’s one of the most non clutch superstars ever and is only effective in the playoffs with a double digit lead and the numbers point exactly to this. He didn’t put him cuz he has a lot of tens success whether that’s with a lot of context or not
@@alexandermorgan4098 bruh Malone is top 3 in points and Stockton has the most assists. Acting like they were complete ass just to push an agenda is nasty
@@brianbadonde9251 A player being Overrated doesn’t imply they suck at what they do. Even the NBA Storyteller would agree that Stockton had a good career for himself. I suppose you could argue Malone is overrated for his playoff underperformances, as for Stockton, those who argue he’s overrated seem to argue that he was a good role player in too big of a role. Ergo: Utah didn’t have much playmaking outside of John Stockton, and if it did, the team might have been better, but he wouldn’t have his assist and possibly steal records, and some argue that without those, he’s not a 30-35th ranked all time player by consensus. If you are of the opinion that John Stockton belongs around 30th all time, then unless you have Paul Pierce, Reggie Miller, or George Mikan over him, then you also are probably implying that he’s the best player who never finished top five in an MVP vote.
So glad Karl ranked number 1 it’s seriously crazy how NOBODY talks about how he got locked up by Rodman in 97 then blew the series by letting mike rip him late in the 4th in 98 combine that with a bunch of first round upsets and yeah Karl was such a big choker he’s honestly not a top 5 power forward in my opinion
@@Gone_rogue these are the types of posts one makes when they inject marijuanas on a regular basis. Stop and get help and stop having pre-marital sex as well.
The harden chokejobs legitimately make me angry. I can respect not playing well if you're trying. But his passivity, lack of interest, and refusal to attack the rim or even force shots up is disgusting to watch.
the way he was losing too bro i cant help but look back and laugh. that bullshit in 2017 and then the next season turned around and contributed to the 0/27 misses🤣
Here in 2024 when Harden finally increased his PPG and eFG % in the playoffs, while playing more minutes, and still lost in the first round. Even when he doesn’t choke, he chokes
Even beyond winning in ‘21, I think averaging 35/14/7 against the Celtics last year and pushing them to the limit without Middleton solidified his playoff prowess. He’s a beast
I feel like every time we talk about superstars between the regular season and the postseason their PPG/efficiency drops from the regular season to the postseason. A video of guys who maintained or exceeded their efficiency going into the postseason would be a great watch
Here’s a stat on Embiid: The best team that he ever beat in the playoffs were the 48 win Raptors in 2022 The only teams he beat: 2018 Heat 44 win team 2019 Nets 42 win team 2020 lost in the first round 2021 Wizards 34 wins in a 72 game season 2022 Raptors 48 win team 2023 Nets 45 win team after they traded Irving and Durant Absolute bum
this doesn’t really tell us anything new. he’s never made it out of the 2nd round, and when you’re a high seed in the first round, you’re playing 43-48 win teams, this adds nothing
Why the fuck yall keep saying Mcgrady when he played for mediocre teams?? Yall think someone can win championships on there own?? You think Jordan woulda won all those championships without pippen Kerr and Rodman??
The fuck are you taking about he has never had a solid team around him.. you can't win championships on ya own.. all these dudes that made the list had help around them that is the difference
It does work in the playoffs geting fouled but you gota play bully ball to get to the line in the playoffs. It's just Hardens method doesn't work in the playoffs lol
It's more than that. This postseason I saw Steph drop 30+ ppg not making more than 3 threes and 5 ft, Harden has 9 points in a game 7 game, how do you do that. Like that doesn't sound possible????
I thought that too but in Houston he averaged 9.4 free throws a game in the playoffs. So pretty clear he still got to the line he just was worse under the pressure
The unsettling music in the background made me think this was a serial killer documentary. Which is fitting, because Patrick Ewing killed a LOT of Knicks teams by being the NBA version of a Honda Civic in the postseason.
Often forgotten due to the era he played in, but Elvin Hayes was a big choker in his day. Got swept in the Finals by the '75 Warriors and underperformed many times in the postseason with Washington. Lucky for him he won a championship against the Supersonics in 1978 (a team who went on to beat him the very next year in a Finals rematch).
I don’t understand the David Robinson take. From the ages 24-30 he looked pretty good in the playoffs. And from then on injuries, being the second fiddle to Duncan, and the addition of Manu brought his stats down. That’s not a Choker to me
He didn’t win till he got Duncan. And everyone plays injured. Especially back then. Also, the guy making the video said that being healthy was one of the metrics ls he was taking into account. He also got owned by his contemporaries in every playoff series.
@@KobeLoverTatum he’s been hurt but hasn’t missed playoff games. Go look at his playoff stats from age 24-30 he put up good numbers. The spurs roster was really mid and he was the only reason they were contenders. You can especially see this from the two seasons before they got Duncan they were a 59 win team with Drob and they brought back the same roster with him hurt and they won 20 games. Name me a good roster that loses one player and goes from one of the best to a lottery team. YOU CANT
Love it Barry. Be fascinating to see your take on the opposite, the most clutch players in NBA history. The guys who always seemed to step it up in the playoffs and just knew they were gonna show up with the big shot in the big moment.
5:15 u did Embiid dirty with that picture 😂 but yeah, I really wished I'd see at least ONE MVP type performance. People say it's a regular season award and my question is So because it's a regular season award, I can't expect the award winners to replicate that in the post season?
Exactly he spent all year tiring himself out crying for the mvp and in the playoffs he proved he is not him, while jokic is having the best offensice postseason ever probably
Fans before play-offs : Jokić can't get 3rd MVP, he didn't achieve anything in the play-offs Fans after Philly blew 3-2 lead: MVP is a regular season award
@@imbtt39 Which is so stupid because Jokic doesn't underperform in the playoffs as an individual. The reason why he didn't have success is because his best teammates were injured. It's actually maddening when people try to act like he was a choker for losing to eventual finals teams with a thinned out roster
Imagine if LeBron had a chance to play multiple finals against one of the biggest chokers, instead he was going against the top dinasties in the history of the NBA in Spurs and Warriors. I guess the basketball gods didn't want him to have 10+ rings
2011 happened and he's the one who picked Superstars over depth. Neither Steph or Duncan are better than Lebron yet they have better teams. That's why 2020 is Lebron best ring. That's one time he did it right: 2 Stars and depth and would you look at that, he's now back in the Conference final with that formula.
The Spurs were a great team that won 5 championships but never a dynasty. Warriors became a dynasty at LeBron’s expense, so they were not one until 2018. So no LeBron did not go up against dynasties
@LouisSportsNetwork If you win multiple championships, doesn't that make you a dynasty? I don't watch a lot of basketball, but the reason people consider the Patriots a dynasty is because they won 6 rings and appeared in 9 or 10 superbowls.
@@matthewcrispinwordofGod Not necessarily. The Patriots were called a dynasty when they won 3 super bowls in a 4 year span including going back 2 back. They were able to win 3 more after that. What they did was impressive. When they beat the Eagles in Super Bowl 39 and won their second straight Super Bowl and 3rd in 4 years, that is when they became a dynasty
I always freeze the videos when the stats come on the page so that I can read them. Something interesting that I glean from your David Robinson and Patrick Ewing takes was that both of those guys wear turnover machines. Robinson had a career 2.4 and Patrick Ewing had a straight-up 3 turnovers per game. Both those guys had a couple good years were they didn't turn it over as much and that actually lowered their numbers which would have been closer to three and a half.
In Malone's defense, he made the Finals twice as a starter (3 if he started for the 03-04 Lakers, I don't remember). Harden's *only* Finals appearance was as a bench player with the Thunder being third banana at best behind Durant and Westbrook
I know it was way before your time, but Elgin Baylor has to be the biggest choker in history, he was in eight finals with the Lakers and lost them all! Jerry West was right behind with seven finals losses and one win.
Lowkey Giannis belongs on this list too. Most dominant player since Shaq but goes completely silent every single year in the playoffs, and I mean EVERY single year. 2021 made people forget that, and even then the Bucks were halfway swept until CP3 started choking the hell out of that finals.
You cant be on this list if you drop 50 in a game 6 closeout game in the finals lmao. Also he hasnt shit his pants every year, he was decent against Boston last year.
Are you fucking stupid? The 2 full games he played this years playoffs he had an efficient 26 point triple double and a 38/20 game on 52% shooting. You're dumb as fuck.
I don’t watch basketball very much, but I watched the Celtics v 76ers series and its hilarious seeing a 7ft “mvp” flop all over the place like a cartoon character.
@@lucasphillips2177 I knew Kareem was a civil rights activist but I didn't know Oscar Robinson and Bill Russell were plumbers or that John Havelcik and Jerry West were firemen.
Having a point decrease in ppg in the playoffs actually makes sense because you are playing against better comp, better defense and more effort. Seems counterintuitive to include in in the argument
The most frustrating aspect of Wilt's post seasons was when eith the Lakers. Wilt was possibly even more passive on offense than was Rodman. The difference here is that Wilt had much more offensive ability than did Rodman. You can watch video of Wilt from 1970 onward when he gets the ball and immediately looks to get rid of it.
@Jay WBell while thats true it's undenyable that he made clutch shots regardless in his playoff career. he won 4 chips and has always performed very well except for few games
For people who are like currently 22-30, Carmelo is maybe the most overrated player of all-time. Really good never all-nba first team, only 2nd team twice, and a 3-13 playoff series record. People have an emotional attachment to him but he's such a clear step below his contemporaries. He's like a slightly better Paul Pierce if KG never came
I can tell that you are quite young, or just recently got into the nba (you never watched Carmelo). I think he's massively overrated too, but your choice of arguments to critique his career just exposes your ignorance, man. Being second and third team all-nba after Lebron, KD, Dirk, Timmy and a few times Paul Pierce can still mean he was a (great) player in his prime. Who the hell gives any credence to all nba voting anyway? Do you really judge people by their journalist-voted accolades? By the way, in EVERY one of his losses in the playoffs (in his prime, denver and nyk) he was on the underdog team.
@@Zach-bt2ky You caught me, I'm 7 years old and just started watching the NBA. Yeah yah dumbfuck I literally said he's really good but clearly a step below all his contemporaries, he's not near the level of Lebron, Wade, TMac, Dirk, Durant even like Chris Paul or Dwight honestly. And if you wanna discount all-nba as "judging people by their journalist-voted accolades" that's your prerogative but I think MVP, All-NBA, and other awards still give you a useful snapshot of who was considered the 10-15ish best players that year.
@@quantrellbishop9263 I'm not basing it off his takes at all, if you wanna say he's better thats fine but Pierce was never really in the convo for like a top-5 player in the league and I think melo at least got there for a little bit
Myself, and a large portion of the NBA community, were ready to apologize to Harden if he got the Sixers past the Celtics despite Embiid's own chokejob. He had it working on all cylinders until... it was time to finish the job.
This is why we should talk about post season numbers more when ranking people all time. When we look at Karl Malone’s numbers, you would think he is top 10 all time. We should keep mentioning post season succes (of course with context but the point stands)
6:50-6:56; Me being in the military, I understood the joke. P.S. love the video even though it pains me to see Mr. Class Act a.k.a. David Robinson being on this list.
I think you aren't giving Harden enough credit for contention for #1 spot. I think overall maybe it is Karl but it's the way Harden falls apart. It's fucking incredible it's not just ob I got worse it's oh shit I'm probably the question player on the court for 2 consecutive games.
Raymond Felton wasn't even the 2nd best player. It was jr Smith. East was weak. Celtics got older and the heat were the only good team. The best they made it far was in 2013 in the semis. What about the other seasons or in thunder and Denver
man you really hit hard with that “best moment of embiids playoff career” question the only thing i could even think of was kawhi hitting that insane shot over him to send toronto to the series where they won their first championship
