"performance over aesthetic" are you joking, that front bumper is just sexy

I think the good looks are just a cool byproduct. Ultimately, the main focus is still performance, it just happens to look good

Honestly, if they would have stuck with this car, I think Tommi could have been world champion again in 2001. I don’t think he even finished with the Evo 7 WRC, and he only needed a few points. This car was so much better. With Tommi at the wheel, it was unbeatable.

A modern classic, let's hope the owners respect them and don't destroy and abuse them so the next generation will know what a weapon they are.

+Johnmatrix1000 With values rising people are definitely starting to take care of them better now. Rust is a major problem now which is why Japanese imports are so popular but some owners are having full underbody restorations done which is good to see.

Good man! I had a silver one in 1999/2000 up chipped to 400bhp. God, I loved that car.....

Have to say having been fortunate to own the likes of the Sapphire Cosworth, Escort Cosworth, three Integrales I think I'd have another Evo TME over all of them. I've heard 400bhp is the sweet spot for tuning them. Must have been epic!

Great video and nice car! The Evo V RS and VI RS actually had titanium turbine wheels before the TME.

I love my red mak.. I've had mine for 5 years now and had no idea there was only 212 ever made
@DrPittenstein
@DrPittenstein 8 лет назад
+Peter Dimaris Yes they are fantastic cars. I was out in mine today after a good clean and wax. The 212 number is actually being contested on MLR. Some believe there are more. However they are still rare in red whatever happens. I actually like the other colours too but I had to find a red one.
@peterdimaris1236
@peterdimaris1236 8 лет назад
Yeah must be around that number 212 wouldn't surprise me.. back 5 years ago It was a mission just to find one in red so wouldn't surprise me.. I have no videos of my car on RU-vid but if you put my name into RU-vid there is a video of it from the importer

Great video! In a couple of years the 5 and 6 will be legal in the states. I’m definitely going to try to get one. Even better if it’s a TME.

This is a great perspective of truly a great car and driver! In the States, we never had an opportunity to experience such a high performance vehicle. Such a shame as this is my favorite Evo!!! I think I'll never grow tired of my Evo 8 RS (red of course) and Evo X GSR. "Performance ahead of asthetics.." great expression and it is why Evo's have such a huge following to the purist even Porsche and Corvette drivers I come across respect it OR know of it. Again they also think a 20 something is behind the wheel not a 40 yr old who loves Evo's! Tommi drove it Flat Out! Awesome -thanks for the video!

Thanks for watching. I think the VI TME will eventually make it to the States, you guys are getting R32 Skylines and Lancia Integrales now I believe? The TME is currently at least 16 years old but I was told that it will need to reach 25 before being imported into the US. If so the Evo 1 will be eligible for importing as of next year.

Very cool and congrats on owning it :) I have an ‘04 Evo8 RS here in the US and I believe only 250 white cars were sold that year here so pretty rare. Nice that yours is stock but I couldn’t resist some external engine mods and doing some rallycross as that’s what it’s made for

Sad but true. I understand wanting to make one worldwide Evo with the X but in trying to satisfy everyone they spent a ton of money and made a decent car but not really an Evo and not something the average sportscar buyer wanted

Nice video, did you know that the lower part of the rear wing was blanked off on the rally car. I first spotted this on my Autoart model & wondered if it was correct.
@DrPittenstein
@DrPittenstein 8 лет назад
Yes it's correct. Mitsubishi tried to get round the regulations with the biplane rear wing but were soon ordered to block up the lower part. As a result the road car technically had more downforce! Same with 22B, the road car's rear wing was bigger than the rally car.

212 units? ... Where did u plug this figure. There are 3238 jdm, 730 Europe and 124 Australia tmes. Red is the most common color, black is the rarest, then silver, blue and white

what chassis number and engine serial numbers display for a tme edition that is different to a normal evo 5 and 6 gsr?
@DrPittenstein
@DrPittenstein 8 лет назад
+edwardpham1 A Silver, Blue, White or Black TME should start with CP9A-SNGF, a red one should have CP9A-SNGF2 and an RS should start with CP9A-SNDF. Cheers!

Evo VIII and IX are JDM legends in their own right but the cars Mitsubishi built to win the WRC take some beating.
@johnnycab8986
@johnnycab8986 3 года назад
@@DrPittenstein IMO the VII was the first Evo that departed from pure hardcore driver enthusiast platform to mixing in brand marketing, more daily driver friendly performance, and all the overweight pork that comes along with that (The VII weighed 500lbs more than the 6).

While a great car,unfortunately by todays standard's its stone age and most modern standard cars would give it a run for its money.Then of course there is the rear wings,while cool in early 2000s are embarrassing in 2018.Its a pity the world has moved away from this type of car.
@ColonelJohnmatrix1000
@ColonelJohnmatrix1000 5 лет назад
Ian Purcell the world has moved on from F40s, F1’s etc, it has not stopped the interest. the Tommi Makinen is the legendary EVO that’s is iconic. People love the rear wing and the classic status of the car. All the modern cars that are comparable in performance don’t have the heritage of the machine nor the excitement. When they have 4 WRC titles to there name than we can compare.
@speedmyster1
@speedmyster1 4 года назад
Well I've owned a few and still own one now and I can tell you havnt.Compare to modern cars ? You think an evo cant kill most modern fast sports cars.

These cars looked lovely in the 90s but to drive one around today is laughable and shameful. There outdated and out of fashion.
