The Timed Shootout presented by Mastercard was run in four seperate stages over SpeedWeek. First came practice on Friday, then Qualifying on Saturday, final practice Sunday morning and an epic final on Sunday afternoon. Not every fast time was set in the final, in fact some of the fastest times - including the new outright circuit record, were set in practice and qualifying. This is a collection of the fastest times by the top 10 cars to run over the weekend:

3. Marco Werner - Lotus 77
4. Lukas Halusa - McLaren M23
5. Gordon Shedden - Audi R8 GT3

A beautifully set up car. With the others you could see them wobbling and hopping along the road, but that Skyline looked so buttery smooth going along. Brilliant stuff.

Seeing that Group A Skyline GT-R stick it to Trans Am, Le Mans veterans, modern GT cars and open wheel formula racers brings a tear to my eye.

Imagine if SuperGT decided to bring some of their modern race cars to Goodwood both from GT500 and GT300 (those with JAF-GT300 regulation specifically). Those cars are blisteringly fast especially the GT500.

Because it was a Japanese monster that destroyed the opposition. The name was coined by an Australian journalist - Nissan never called it Godzilla.

@@joe125ful it doesn't just have a blunt all-wheel drive with a constant 50-50 distribution.the smart atessa ets system smoothly transmits torque to the front axle only when the rear wheels slip or the accelerator pedal is pressed hard,the system transmits torque to the front axle depending on the slip,up to 50%.the GTR was also equipped with smart steering rear wheels that helped the car turn even in the steepest turn at high speed.

The r32 is a near perfect replica of the group A car with the boost turn to the maximun 1,020 hp with awd that trans am mustang was cool but it had no chance

I just rewatched to find the Calsonic GTR and i was not dissappointed. Amazing driver ringing out the cars talent. That car made history when new and being the fastest factory style bodied car made history in this day

I was thinking the same thing and then I noticed it says "JUDD V10" on the air intake above the driver so you were spot on, although bear in mind the Judd engine in the BMW is a V8. Still two absolutely amazing sounding engines.

The R32 Nissan driven by the extremely talented Jake Hill was built by Ric Wood Motorsport. A very close to perfect replica of the original Calsonic cars. Simply Stunning.

GT-R32. What a machine for a touring car! It was victory by design. It was a better-optimised package than its competition. They won in the UK, Spa 24h, Spain, Australia and Japan. All being run by different teams and with different drivers. In Japan, it was 50 straight victories until the rules were changed. In Australia, it was given more and more weight ballast as time went by and in addition in its last season a massive blow-off valve to limit boost, but it still won. None of these impediments existed in the Grp. A rules when the car was designed. In the end, Ford and GM wrote a joint letter saying they'd been humiliated enough and would not play any more unless the 4WD and turbos were banned. There can not be any higher accolade than rivals being forced to band together to beat you by forcing a change the rules.

When a car made in 1989....and doesn't even have a full GT aero bodykit yet it's doing 1:18 while modern GT3 cars doing at 1:17....sure 1 second is A LOT in racing...but still....it's mind blowing how monstrous the R32 is....let's not forget the fact it's a handful to handle that monster as well but point being is, it still did it at an amazing time.

The mechanical grip of that group A r32 is mind boggling, the car has almost no aero mods at all and is still hangs with or even exceeds other cars with double or triple the amount of downforce of the skyline!

Okay, Calsonic must have bee on a whole other level because that is just quick. Like holy shit, that's really fast Just seeing how close it was to the times of a LEGENDARY F1 car like the Lotus 77 just goes to show how fast that car is. Maybe with a better setup, a tad bit more power, and a tad bit better lines, that R32 could easily be on par or faster than said F1 cars

When a 90's Japanese Sports is a second slower than an 80's Formula One car really does show how in the two decades of motorsport in very different classes has gone bat shit crazy, and the treatment for cars that have aerodynamics like a brick in comparison to a purpose-built 'Ground Effect' vehicle is an astonishing achievement on it's own to those engineers and drivers. Awesome. Awesome. And did I mention awesome?
