The normal Osu is so garbage compared to the other modes it has in terms of difficulty and song maps people make. Osumania and even the Taiko one are a lot better. Can't comment on catch the beat since that's more of an arcade game with music than a rhythm game IMO.
I would have to say that pop'n music comes in second. You'd need to be a god tier player to be good at pop'n music. Not just anyone is going to be able to clear level 46-50 charts.
@komo btw, I just discovered that there is a gameplay of 18 keys in 'EZ2AC' (or what is called a '16k' gameplay). At that point, I'm slowly dying in laughter. 🤣💀
Good list! I haven't kept up with IIDX in ages, but it's nice to see that Mei is still considered one of the hardest, because that song is just goddamn ridiculous.
I'm not surprised at Beach Side Bunny being second and Mei being first LOL. I see loads of people struggle with Beach Side Bunny during the KAC 2013 IIDX tournament.
Well, although I am a total noob in IIDX (Lvl 7 :D), I really enjoy the video and the presentation. I'd love to see an update if some newer Songs challenged the top 10 in the meantime. Between Lincle and Pendual there must be new challenges after all.
+Jack Hadaki Stuck on 11s for a long time. 1,5 years to be exact, yet still try to play 12s and I was even able to A 2 or 3 12s xD. btw,I think that 3y3s deserves a much higher rank on the list because scratching while having this intense chart in an art of its own.
The scratches in #2 make it much more difficult than it looks (especially since some of those scratches are 24ths), as many of those key patterns have to practically be done by one hand. As for Scorpion Fire, I can see why it isn't on this, as most of the song isn't that hard; only the ending is really that notable.

There was always one mod that I wanted since the 5 key beatmania days...Auto Key mode, where you have to only scratch the turntable...though it still won't make the Beach Side bunny remix any easier
What sucks about #2 is that since one hand has to be occupied for the whole time on just the turntable action, the other hand has to do all of the work for the 7 keys. It is so hard to work all 7 keys with one hand. It could come easy for some, but definitely not me. You could try to transfer some of that weight over by working the edge 2 keys with your turntable hand, but then you'll just get confused.
Yea that variance judge timing on old 5key beatmanias were quite annoying more often than not. But it gave birth to a hilarious homage which is Gambol [a]
Yep, though this game gives a solid F-U to those that try to 1 hand this game. In the Tatsujin movie mode on 6th style, Lisu, renouned 1 handed player at the time, has to resort to 2 hands at the buildup to the climax of V on another, and this was way back in 5TH STYLE (it's a straight 2-4 measure of a 1-3-5-7 2-4-6 drum roll)
I wonder why he didn't choose PARADISE LOST into TOP 10 lists. PL is much harder than Bad Maniacs and quell. I guess the author completely forget about it XD
Amazing the different perspective you get seeing some of these songs on a different game style. I'm a DDR player so I've played Mei on a dance pad multiple times, but watching Mei [A] just...oh my God, love it.
The scratches in beach side bunny r no joke. i tried to do it with my friend playing the 7 keys and i failed instantly at the rapid part. bad maniacs should move forward and perditus should move behind. but i still agrees with this list in the overall
If you play these games long enough and get used to their timing, you (have to) read the notes as they are falling halfway down the screen, not when they hit the red bar at the bottom. It is a lot of information to process after all.
no way, dude; mei is by far the hardest song. back when I last played (Gold) i could AAA/hard clear anything (AAAd golden cross, AA [the song not the grade], Quell and all the 12s on 6th-Gold except maybe piano concerto #1 and nageki no ki) but i never once cleared mei. it is nonstop fingerslaughter. it will probably never be equalled in future releases.
Today, there are many changes about 'Hardest' songs in IIDX. Bad maniacs, quell, Nageki no ki, Almagest are no longer in hardest. Instead, there are many candidates such as 'Elemental Creation', 'PENDULEMs', 'Confiserie' and so on.
+moviedude XD About Single, Another pattern? well.. First of all, FLOWER has high density in the latter part. so it is hard among the level 11. and Anisakis has hard scratch checks in last part. so it might be difficult for low-11 level runners. but both of songs are not hardest in 11 levels

+moviedude XD JOMANDA has weird speed-changing in middle of pattern. this section is not a problem with easy, normal gauge. but it is very difficult with hard, ex-hard gauge. Also JOMANDA has high density in latter pattern. so it is tough pattern with easy, normal gauge too

( textage.cc/score/20/jomanda.html?1AC00=15 ) as you can see, speed is reduced in 34. so solutions are 1. reduce hi-speed 0.5( Just push start butten and press white butten once quickly. ) in there before changing. 2. remove sudden+ ( Just press start butten 4 times, but if you don't use sudden+, this solution is useless. ) in there before changing 3. Just handle it 4. Use solutiin 1 in 18 ( I used it to ex-hard clear, but this solution requires high low-speed handling skill or use a cap has brim. like baseball cap. )
I know this was back in 2012, but there were black another by then, unless this is limited to AC charts only. there are many black anothers that are harder than these.
It's kind of hard to gauge what songs are the MOST difficult. Players are skilled in a variety of different areas so there are alot of songs which could easily make this list depending on peoples opinions. Mei is probably the hardest to hard clear but in terms of clearing, it's easier than nageki. Alternatively Red, Balck or snakestick could be put here i people such at scratching. It's really impossible to nominate 10 absolute winners
This movie is old, so it is different from now and some people succeeded these songs in this video full-combo. however, 冥 is still the most difficult song in ⅱdx.
Plan 8 > Shakunetsu > everything else on both Clear/HC /end FC difficulty =/= chart difficulty, usually Mei is way down the list when it's about Normal Clear (around G59/YAKSHA tier)
I agree in most of the songs, but not in the order, i should put perditus paradisus lower on the top... maybe even at 10th place... also beach side bunny should be lower too... aside from that, good top ten... :3

Go Beyond!! is a piece of cake to Normal Clear, Hard Clear is another story haha. Well I can't really judge since I clear a dozen of 12s, the easiest ones :P
