I just recently started trying to learn loose watercolor techniques. I have always created semi realistic and illustrative drawings to paint, but I never got into loose watercolor (until now). New subscriber and beginner watercolor person here ... THIS was very helpful to me. I did your 3-4 mth old Mountain-meadow-tree tutorial last night/this morning and learned a lot. I live in NW Montana so mountains are almost always in my landscape background and I have struggled. My first go at your tutorial is maybe my fav mountains ever. I will practice it again (and again!). This color video was the perfect follow up. I have W&N and DSmith colors - not a huge amount. I've tended toward single pigment and for example, looked up Indigo which is PB60 (Indanthone Blue) and PBk 6 (Lamp Black). I have a Daniel Smith Dot card so compared a swatch of Indigo with my own mix of Fr Ultramarine and Mars Black which are closest I have to PB60 and PBk 6. I can get close! Then I did some swatching with that mix and sap green ... yummy evergreen green. I understand having convenience colors especially something like Indigo, but I think it is helping me learn to do the research and mixing myself ... at the moment! (*** I am semi-retired and a 1 human household so have/make time) . Just before I tried the above, I received an order of Jadeite Genuine, one of DS PrimaTek colors. I love how it swatched and think it will be very useful to me. I am also using Sodalite Genuine instead of Payne's Gray. . Thanks for all of this great info ... not only the colors and swatches but the 3-4 colors side by side and how you use them. ❤❤❤

A very helpful video, thank you! most of your colours are also in my palette, though mine are Winsor and Newton paints. I feel I’d like to try Daler Rowney once these run out as I’ve quite a few artists using them on you tube too 😊
