Yeee my aunt lives in calumet. My dad lived with her for about 2 years then moved to Hammond. My aunts neighborhood wasn’t that bad, the houses were decent but the people weren’t
Grew up in Hammond, IN. Right over the bridge from Gary. I remember the welcome sign going into Gary. It said "A friendly people, a friendly city" (something like that) The sign had bullet holes all in it! 😂😂😂
I moved from Connersville to Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne is constantly growing and there are good schools here. Also it is a good city for raising a family because there are many activities. People come out in groves to participate. Also work is abundant. Compared to other states and cities Fort Wayne has a good cost of living. If you can deal with the terrible winters, you should do well there.
Only thing growing in Fort Wayne is crime rate and synthetic marijuana addiction. I've lived there. Yeah, I'm sure there's yearly growth in tent fires still. How's the meth out there? Is it still a cheap rip-off?
@@user-hu9xq7sv5l You haven't missed anything. I have to travel there for work from time to time, and it is so bad my company will not allow me to stay at any hotels in Anderson.
My father was from Indiana, and the first 12 years of my life were spent in and around Shelbyville. I thought it sucked, but that young I couldn't have cited any reasons. I live in Tallahassee, Fl., and the crime rate is the highest in the state. My home has been burglarized 3 times in the last 20 years!!!
Why are there so many people saying that Indiana is boring? Indiana really isn't that boring. I lived in Georgia and Mississippi before moving here to Indiana and it really isn't all that bad here. Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Lafayatte, Middlebury, and Michigan City are all good places (even though Michigan City made the list even though Michigan City isn't that bad), there's lots of pretty good farms here, and the seasons here are pretty good. If the only thing you have for Indiana is hate, then I sure feel sorry for you. Indiana is not a horrible place to live. It might not be the best place, but it sure as hell isn't the worst. Grow up people.
Johnny Savage Middlebury has a lot of Amish cultures all throughout the town. It maybe boring to you if you're not into small towns, but it's beautiful to me.
Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana so I must not be doing too bad. I used to hate living in Indiana but then I grew up and realized exactly how good I have it! Seriously, do a little resesarch and compare the cost of living, unemployment, schools, etc. Fort Wayne is an awesome place to live - if you aren't afraid of a little cold once in awhile.
Ive been robbed at gunpoint and shot in the head here but everyone knows when there's a problem with someone it gets handled quick and quiet with no 5-o
I say this all the time but no.........Lots of people are actually comfortable paying 1200 dollars a month for rent for a shitty ass studio in an over congested city.
Figured Evansville would be on here, it’s the actual highest for meth labs in Indian in I think 2015-2017 and it’s called mini Chicago, used to live next to it, it’s a great place till you get to the getto part of it, down town is absolutely beautiful there tho
I am from Evansville. When I was a kid it was not dangerous at all. Now it has become quite dangerous. I definitely won't walk around downtown without pepper spray or at least a group of people. It's kind of sad. But as cities Grove crime rates Skyrocket. It's not the worst place in the world but it's definitely not the best. At least they have a zoo? And not s*** else to do
Evansville isn’t bad. Downtown is drastically improving, especially with the new med school. There’s a number of new business that have opened. Hell, even Hainey’s corner is buzzing.
I was born and raised in Anderson. It used to be a booming auto town. Of course, all those factories closed and in came the drugs and massive poverty. I moved away the second I could. It's so depressing visiting. Doesn't even feel like home anymore.
I lived briefly in Anderson as a kid in the early 70's. It was an absolute dump then, and I went back once as adult to see if it was as bad as i remembered....oh yeah it was! But I admit i live in the dump of ohio...known as Dayton.
Andrea shmandrea I was born in Anderson, spent a great deal of time there, lived in Lapel for a bit, and went to college in Muncie. Got out of there in 1986. Anderson was always on the rough side, but it got worse when Delco Remy and Guide Lamp went under. I went back in 2003 for my dad's funeral. The only person at the funeral who had a job was my cousin, who makes coffin handles. I've been there to visit since, and it is truly heart-breaking to see what Anderson has become. I wish that Mounds Mall could have been saved, too. I guess this is "progress."
It's nice living here - houses are affordable and the cost of living is lower. We aren't near any oceans, mountains, or huge rivers so we are safer here too. Why would anyone want to rent a tiny apartment in NYC staring out your window at a brick wall and pay $3,000 for it? Why would anyone try and live in LA or surrounding areas and pay one trillion dollars for a house only to have a wildfire burn it down then a landslide finish the job. It may be slightly boring around here but I'll take boring anytime over abject terror.
1 March 2021: I agree with you. Indiana is a good state to live in. We also have cool native American places to visit and many beautiful wild birds to observe.
You are not wrong at all. What do people even do here for fun I've lived here all my life and I still havent been able to find an answer to that question lol
As someone from Indiana and who lived 15 mins from Michigan city and who had family that lives there to this day I can confirm that it sucks but you never mentioned they're football team who was pretty good kicked my schools (chesterton Trojans) ass just about every year I played for chesterton
I live in Anderson and it does suck. This used to be a great city before all of the factory jobs moved out and went to Mexico. We have gotten some new factory jobs now like Nestle and Greenville Tech and a few others but regardless it still sucks.Fun things to do in Anderson include Gambling ,watching junkies fall out in their cars at stoplights and going to the world's fastest quarter mile speedway .If anyone is thinking of moving here DON'T it's a trap and you will never get out unless it's in a casket. We are planning our big escape in 2 years when the child graduates High School and no not in a casket.
First of....places like Terri haute are beautiful. I live in Indiana and it's not as bad as it looks so stop downgrading my state and sow respect for us Hoosiers
Typical second grade Hoosier grammar. I lived in Terre Haute, aka the Terrible Hole. Rampant illiteracy, drug use and public pajama wearing. I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to live there.
My teacher was a former teacher at Gary and they had to limit the students pencils and how often they sharpen them and how sharp they get because students would turn pencils into shivs and stab people .
I travel to different towns to play Pokemon Go on occasion and I ended up in Marion one night. My God. Some of those neighborhoods make the worst neighborhoods in Fort Wayne look like the suburbs. I wondered if I had slipped through a wormhole into a war-torn third world country.
Fort Wayne has an inner city, of course that part sucks. The rest is one of the best cities it's size in the country. In 2017, These acts played The Fort. Like any of these? ZZ Top - Journey - Vince Gill - Diana Ross - Kansas - The Spinners - Blue Oyster Cult - Barenaked Ladies - Gordon Lightfoot - Tesla - The Beach Boys - Aretha Franklin - Ted Nugent - Kid Rock - Tim McGraw/Faith Hill - Steve Miller Band - Luke Bryan. Not bad for a city our size (300k). A downtown stadium voted top 10 in all the U.S. several times. Hundreds of miles of paved bike trails, The Riverwalk is coming. Voted one of the best cities by several publications. Commuting is pure heaven, and the cost of living amazing. Oh, and 3 hours from 4 NFL teams, 3 NBA teams, 4 MLB teams, and the Red Wings and Blackhawks of NHL. Yeah, we suck.
@@officialnotesonlifepodcast unemployment is really bad there. I remember back when bush was in office so many people ended up losing their jobs there, including my dad. All the big factories that inhabited the city shut down from bankruptcy
aleah bliss ecxatly my mom and Nene and uncle and many others are from Gary indiana and I have been there they are nice and they dont have those trucks everything is not locked up. This is a LIE
For one we don't have a Walmart in Gary. Two there are no DNA trucks. Three there is no barbershop on King drive. Four nobody is getting shot over no damn hat. Five there are multiple Subway and olny one is behind glass. The city is in need of improvement but at least get your facts straight. And your description of Gary residence was inaccurate.
Absolutely!! From Gary!! Born and raised, multiple degrees, career, no pit pull, and none of the other bs he named! Indiana is definitely a state that's split. People from northern Indiana don't feel safe in the southern parts. People from southern Indiana don't feel safe in the northern parts. I personally would never consider getting out my car past Indianapolis unless it was an absolute emergency.
I live in Indianapolis and drove a taxi and took a passenger to Gary. A policeman stopped me and asked me what I was doing up there. I told him and he said bringing another dope dealer up here? He followed me to the interstate.
We all knew Gary was gonna be the worst, but when mentioning Terrible Haute you didn't mention the awful stink in the air at all hours of the day. Its like walking into a used tampon maze, where the hell does that stench come from!?
I am *speckledorked* that Gary was on this list. I get it bc you cant own a home there for the life of you, but it’s not that bad today as it was then. “We’ve been speckledorked!” -SpongeBob SquarePants
I will never ever ever ever ever in my damn life ever go back to Indiana..lived there most my life..and the best decision I ever made was leaving that God awful state
Are there any other states besides Indiana that there is a significant difference between certain portions of it that people often refer to what portion are talking about?
Michigan City is slowly dying but 4th worst in Indiana is a bit harsh. Anyone that thinks East Chicago is a better place to live than Michigan City CLEARLY never spent time in East Chicago
Shoulda just put all of Elkhart county. In 08 we were #1 in meth manufacturing in the u.s South bend, Elkhart,Goshen. ( C block in g town city of crooks)
Yes, elkhart here. They think it's a good city because there's a lot of jobs, but there's so much crime, the schools are failing with a low graduation rate, the city is a giant ghetto but priced like a nice suburb.
Evansville is quickly becoming one of the worst places to live. I've lived here for 20+ years and I absolutely hate it here. I'd move back to Alaska if I could get my kids and grandkids to move there. They're the only reason I stay here 🤣🤣🤣🙃🙃🙃
I've lived in muncie, Marion, and indianapolis, and the fact that you think it compares makes me laugh lol. The worst part of Evansville is nicer than the nicest part of Anderson, or Marion, or Gary. I actually serviced security systems in Evansville. Seen the absolute worst of Evansville. Which is about 3 notches above most of the cities on the list. I've stepped past dead bodies to play basketball l before bud. Evansville is where people on this list go to relax haha
No, you just got duped. If you live in the state at all you live in the worst place. Hate your luck, but it's all Gary now. And I've been to Muncie. Too methy
Mufasa: Look, Simba. Everything the light touches is our kingdom. Young Simba: Wow. And this'll all be mine? Mufasa: Everything. Young Simba: Everything the light touches... What about that shadowy place? Mufasa: That's Gary Indiana. You must never go there, Simba.
I live in newburgh a little town right next to Evansville when I go there it's nothing but abandoned buildings and a small mall and a few restaurants I wouldn't say it's one of the worst places it's just very boring
