@alloutperformance yeah, volume control is a little wonky. by the time it goes through renering and through youtube it's get's all janky. I'm working on it to find the right balance.
I agree with that. Ed Hubbs is a professional and makes his living airbrushing. I'm generally airbrush as a hobby and use tricks make up for years of experience. TD

@VelezJ20 I just used spray adhesive because this is a small project. You don't want to use any outside chemical on a big job cause it coul cause problems.
URGENT QUESTION - How do you stop the tracing paper or tissue paper from bunching up and looking terrible? I have tried tissue paper, tracing paper... Wet clear coat, dry clear coat, spraying back with paint first. The best progress I had was waiting for clear coat to flash... Then spray tracing paper with spray paint first... Then place on surface. But as soon as I hit it with clear, it bunches up. :( Am I not waiting long enough for it to dry first?

I love the music I'm using. It's almost all by a buddy of mine named DJ Kazuya. He's taking a break from music right now so that's why it's not always available on his website, Enkeria-com. some refinements to Tony's cool tip 1. soak yr laser-printed pic in water, leave blank space around it 2. when wet, lay it on a flat surface, face down 3. take an X-acto and slit between the 2 layers of paper. Use yr fingers to gently roll the paper. 4. Let dry, cut around, you get a thinner piece of paper no one will notice 5. use wallpaper glue (well reduced), pic stays flat, no bubble tx tony, sort of reminded me grade 3 or 4, lol

That's why you use rice paper...IT is made from Kozo (mulberry) bush, which makes them strong and hold up to a variety of art chemicals. I got mine at Pearl's for $7 for 48 sheets. I paint pinewood derby cars, and I took plain sticker decal labels of Angry birds, stuck them on and clearcoated right over them...held up fine.
VTwin4Christ - you have your comments set where we can't reply. I think the setting is in Google + somewhere. To answer your question... try spraying clear coat on the back of the images first to make them sticky. If that doesn't work you can use stick glue or adhesive to stick them to the surface then clearcoat over them. Just be careful. The more stuff you put on the image the taller it becomes and it becomes more difficult to put clearcoat on top without it creating bumps or ridges.
Hey there Tony, Quick question for you, what type of paint are you using for this job? I notice your fond of autoair and such, i just cant seem to get the Fascolor and Createx (yes i know cheapo) to flow just right. Got it down to milk consistancy, dunno if you have any tips.
Because rice/tracing paper is so thin, if you just lay it down on a black surface it'll look really dark. Putting white on the reverse side keeps it bright an clearly visible.
wow- great tutorial. Just a quick question- Do you have any fading issues if this is somewhere on a high sun area like hood/trunk? aka- will it hold up? Also any moisture issues since it's paper based? thanks-
hi tony what kind of paint you use,coz the colour green its really light,i use createx but the green is a bet dark though,or u mix 2drops of green and 1drp of white? really helpful channel,respect
i know from my practice tracing paper is not all the same, cheap tracing paper is more like rice paper ( real rice paper is too thick for this job IMO) however there is thinner tracing paper brands so i suggest you sample different types and test them first ,
I'm curious as to how light fast a regular ink jet printed image is? If the final product is going to get a lot of UV exposure, is the printed material going to retain it's integrity as long as quality paint will?
did you shot a couple layers of clear over it? until you that you'll still feel the edges, the clear coat gives it that nice even feel to everything and makes it blend in.

Now I know who you remind me of!! My friend David he is a rock wall instructor at the gym I go to. He is the coolest person I have ever meet! I have watched a ton of your videos and I couldn't figure out who you reminded me of until today lol. Well any ways, do you think this technique would work well with logos and pictures also?
@WAubD Maybe you had some air bubbles in your paper when you set it down on your project and when you painted on it the paint dried and where the air bubbles were at they crinkled up. Just a guess.
one thing i want to find out is.. i want to airbrush a small part of a helmet without having to scuff the whole thing..do i scuff a small section ,airbrush , tape around small part , clear , scuff and buff all thogether??
how do you get the green clear flames on the black when i tried it you couldnt see the green what paint do you use just before the green is applied?????
if I wanted to have the say dollar notes popping out like 3d style could I just use thick paper< I want to make it so my deign comes out from the background so it looks like it has sort of an "outdent" as opposed to an indent lol?

Can you add this trick I too of a cool airbrush paint job? I have a killer paint job and he nailed the presidents face but I want to try to make the dollars body look realistic. Can this be done and not screw up the original paint job?
Hey we're trying to do this using tracing paper like the one you used in your video, but it seems to crinkle up when we spray the clear coat. Any suggestions?
@AirbrushTricks as a 15 year painter, i can tell you that if its not paint, intercoat clear, flake, pearl, or candy, its got no business between your basecoat and clear coat. rice paper or not. now this may fly for test panels or xbox shells, you do that to a car and you WILL be redoing it later. would hate to see your car peeling up because some rice paper got between it. just my experience bro. just because it works in the present, doesnt mean it will work down the road. costly mistake.
what program is that you used to bend those bills. i know that you can do alot more with it but i dont know the name of that program. thank and keep it up. i really looks great.

@revellmodels if you download the trial of photoshop and copy the image of the dollar bills and open them in photoshop there is an ability to warp the image. That should easily help you to attain the correct image you'd like. :)

He did say, u might wanna lay more clear than 1, or twice. A thick layer of clear should ease all u "worriers" of sun light, damaging the paper..this is pretty cool 👍 show more tricks
