Whether you’re writing a screenplay, a novel, or even a short comic strip, it’s important to have your characters possess specific and identifiable traits. Neglecting to do so can result in some unrelatable and bland characters. This is why archetypes are important to understand. Archetypes are universal symbols, emotions, or events that are recurrent across a character’s experience. They can help create a sense of familiarity for the audience because they often can reflect our own experiences and traits.
