@neutrino78x
@neutrino78x 2 года назад
@@donsimons9810 real martial arts doesn't take much physical strength. If you hit Arnold Schwarzenegger in his pecks, he wouldn't feel shit. Even if you put all your strength into it, he's just too buffed. Now if you hit him in the solar plexus, that he would feel, and a woman could knock the wind out of him that way just like a man. But doing that kind of thing takes intellect and thinking and meditation, not just steroids like with MMA. Also don't forget, Wing Chun, which is 50% of Jeet Kune Do, was created by a female...Shaolin Monk. I think all styles can be made to work, but if you sincerely feel like your technique can only be done by a man because you need to be in the same weight class, you need a better one. Because on the street you might as well be a woman. No one your same size or smaller is going to fight you. It's going to be somebody bigger or somebody with a weapon. So your technique has to work on that. Not just in the ring against the same weight class.

I love Chinese martial arts. I was fascinated by Shaolin temples and all the old movies since I was a kid. I love the power behind the smooth movements. It's a pity that I don't take the time to visit a Shaolin temple. Maybe I will manage to visit such a Shaolin temple in the future. I love the calm and balanced way of the Shaolin fighters. I could watch the training for hours and I would love to join in. But the students there are much younger and on a much higher level. I would probably need the whole thing in slow motion :) Thanks for the very great video. Sorry for my bad English (translated with DeepL).

The only Chinese martial arts that make you better at unarmed fighting are Sanda and Shuai Jiao. Everything else is incredibly doubtful - in most cases, you'll just waste years of your life and a small fortune, just to become worse at fighting then when you started.

You know what is truly amazing?? How we can come here from pure loving source energy, connected to to all things through love. In such a short amount of time here, we become so out of touch with everything that we are. To see what we must do to remove the fear. Look beyond pain. To feel truly alive again. To reconnect with our higher power that exists in each life giving breath we take. It absolutely blows my mind.. What a beautiful experience it was that you chose, and they allowed!! I thank you for sharing this with all of us. 🙏🙏 I also send much love, light, and gratitude to all the masters that have dedicated their lives to share this training so others can experience this beautiful way of life , and learn the culture and ways of the elders, that walked on this planet before them.. Its is amazing and wonderful that the human spirit can be regained by the simple life lessons and yes to be an athlete I'll never be again but this shows me above all that there is hope for me yet. So grateful for the insights and info in this video! Been researching different kinds of martial arts like crazy, but this is the most helpful example! It's also motivating to watch someone share their experience with authenticity. At the end when Shifu Shi Yanjun wished him all of those blessings for his channel, he seemed really moved. It affirmed all his earlier insights about what was most fulfilling and gratifying about his training experience. imo, he's lacking that affected, performative commentary that's on-brand w/ YT vloggers these days. Its truly refreshing. for real. After seeing countless vlog in this genre (my life as/i try/cultural immersion), what a blessing to find one that exemplifies learning from a specific culture by grounding oneself in honest, humble reverence and humor! the bruh check hard qigong bit 😂😂 reminds me how it felt watching Anthony Bourdain in Parts Unknown for the first time. Super effectual and fun to watch! 🪷 🙏🏼🙌🏼 gonna see if he has any posts about the temple food or the Shaolin animals now. TY Philip 🌻

I train mma (striker) alot of what I see here at its very core basics are similar. Minus the crazy acrobatics and "flowy"? Type movements. I understand that they are more for emphasis on precision and control over every tiny body movement, balance, dexterity, and over all mastering your body mechanics. MMA and modern martial arts in general tend to focus on the simple, most brutal, most efficient techniques that can be easily taught to anyone. How effective that "anyone" is, depends entirely on them. Given the insane athleticism displayed here, and YEARS(not months as you see so many people drop MMA training after a few months and believe they are the ultimate weapon) of training, fighting one of these masters would definitely be not an ideal situation to be in. I got to train anywhere from 2-4 hrs a day pre covid. These guys train all day everyday. Day in day out. Not just the body, but the mind is extensively trained. This is my take away from this. They truly are training in "real" martial arts. It's eye opening to see true masters of traditional martial arts displaying their skills, and not the McDojo types that are all bark, no bite...you know the ones Xu Xiao Dong AKA Mad Dog embarrassed. Very cool documentary and eye opening to myself. Loved the selection of bgm and how they were used in this video, many of which come from my favorite games. That little bit you went into around the 21 min mark, had me take a deeper look inside myself, and ask myself what I was training for. Self defense? Ego? Pride? Maybe all 3? One thing I did come out of this thought provoking moment was: Seeing my limit, and going beyond. I feel the reason many MMA practioners come off as toxic, are the same reason why fake masters of the traditional styles are also toxic is: they havent climbed to the peak of their mountain, just found a nice plateau, with a nice view, on which they can look down upon everyone. Thank you so much for this documentary. Subbed!

Thanks for doing this. I visited a Shaolin Academy in Shandong and was a bit surprised. It confirmed something you commented on early in this video about how westerners approach martial arts. The Academy was populated with a lot of immature and insecure westerners, mostly American and some European. They would often would talk about martial arts in terms of what it would do to another person as opposed to the technique and the goals to maintain. I'd like to see more on Wing Chun and also more specifically the Forms-- breaking up the forms, showing their names, a breakdown of the techniques. It's interesting how you sped through the forms.......

One of the things I like about traditional martial arts like what's shown here is that a character development/ training takes place. Not just giving fighting techniques to anyone who can pay.

Nothing more than a cheerleader routine they practice to get tourism. It was never used in war and there is no way to even verify that claim other than to watch them fight real opponents. Which they almost never do and the few I've seen lost in 25 seconds . 5'3" and 115lbs male dancers.

This should air on the history channel or some place that millions and millions of people can see it and learn. I am not in the best health but seeing how the monks use mind over matter to ignore the pain and negative things that brings a person done. To just live a life free or fear would be so awesome. I can't explain why I'm brought to immediate tears of joy when I watch these monks move, speak, breathe this honest, human way of existing. If I could take a one way ticket anywhere, I'd like to stay in a Shaolin monestary. Their way is so pure and steeped in ancient knowledge that western culture just doesn't possess. Incredible film, beautifully pit together, perfectly showed the beauty of the monks, the temple, the landscape and the practices. Well done. The qigong is something I'd try, I have so much built up restlessness energy in my muscles I typically punch my muscles to relax them anyways lol
