India has developed, tested, and deployed a wide range of strategic and tactical missile weapons since gaining independence. Ballistic, cruise, anti-ship, air-defence, air-to-air, and anti-missile systems have all been developed in multi-decade-long projects. There are only seven countries having ICBMs and four with anti-ballistic missile defences; India is one of them. India joined the Missile Technology Control Regime in 2016, and it has been a member ever since (MTCR).
