I was so bummed with the Winnowing Flame trilogy too. I liked it initially, but then it went down in book two and then I also dnf-ed the series and didn't read the third book. I think my initial higher rating of the first book was mostly just because I thought the world was so cool.

I started reading the Lady of Darkness series because of what you said about the Legacy series and I’m now halfway through the last book, I’m loving it soooo much. Can’t wait to read the legacy books after finishing Lady of Starfire

The Winnowing Flame trilogy... I'm glad I read it in the end, but I wasn't a huge fan of the first book, loved the second book except for one very problematic element, but then essentially hated the third book, so I completely appreciate you DNFing it!👃

This is how I felt about the series. Glad I read it but not satisfied with the overall series. I was disappointed with the 3rd book. To much content that didn’t feel necessary, certain things not expanded on or just sorta thorn away and I didn’t really care for the ending. I feel like Jen Williams maybe didn’t get to tell the whole story she had planned though; like she was probably encouraged to wrap it up quickly.

The Legacy series is probably the best fantasy romance I’ve ever read, and I’d never even heard of it before you. It truly is perfect for people who read a lot of high fantasy. Thanks for the recommendation 🫶🏽

I wish I had seen this review before I bought and suffered through Wild Love. It was my first book by ES and it was so bad... 1 star bad IMO. Lady of Darkness sounds super good though! 👃🏽
