We actually got the three speed column shift to work on my 1966 Bronco! We also addressed the carburetor, mounted the seats, replaced the brake shoes and drums and addressed about a half dozen other issues. Lets see if it'll handle a road trip with all of these new updates. I'm into this thing pretty deep labor wise and "I know what I've got" but if you really wanna own this first year Bronco it could be yours for the low low price of only $24,999. As always, thanks for watching!

A tip for greasing Zerk fittings when you are pumping grease in listen for the grease going in to push air out past the seal and stop when the air stops, if you pump grease in until you see grease coming out you have over greased and blown out the seal letting dust in and eventually ruining what you greased.

I got back interested into working on old cars because of shows like yours, working on cars with what you have. I grew up in a era where if what you were working on wasn't Hot Rod magazine worthy you'd never be satisfied with it. I know that the guys on RU-vid want a million subscribers but when they get there they move right into the build that a normal person can't do because we can't afford. Glad to see instead of just buying all new parts you work with what you have. Keep up the good work.

Mortske .. it's times like this that make you appreciate companies that specialize in rebuilding components , all the time involved to do, I've learned I can repair anything and money can be made in easier ways but time .. it's the only thing you can't get back, the wonderful thing about about multiple projects is waiting on parts etc you can always pull in another while you wait on other stuff

That sure takes me back, I picked up my '66 for $700 in 1988! It outlasted more than a few Ms. Wrongs, until I finally married Miss Right! Gave my son the option of the Bronco or a 1970 Olds Cutlass convertible for his 16th birthday. He chose the Bronco. Ah, but the memories and a few grainy pictures still serve me well. The primary shoe is usually shorter to compensate for the "Servo" action when the brakes are applied in forward direction. When the shoe contacts the drum it tends to pull the front shoe in rotation and helps apply it and transfer that assist through the adjuster to the rear shoe. It seems to allow greater controlled friction rather than causing it to lock up upon application because of the assist from rotation.

Drill the pilot hole with a regular bit first BEFORE you approach w the hole saw, and work from the back where it's concave so the bit doesn't wander downhill and do it on a 2x8 or something so you can push. The Zerk design, named after Oscar Zerk, used a fitting much smaller than the Alemite pin-type and did not lock the hose coupler or hand gun and fitting together. Instead, the seal between them was maintained by the pressure of a pushing action when the operator applied the coupler to the fitting.

You were smart to use a GM style brake light switch. I had a ‘66 Galaxie and the factory pedal mounted spring type switch on my car let me down several times. When the Ford design fails the brake lights stay on continuously. Many times I walked to the car and got greeted by the warm glow of the brake lights slowly sucking the life from my battery. I used to keep an extra switch in my glovebox at all times. Right next to a box of glass fuses. But in all fairness I drove the old girl daily for almost 10 years. She was pretty good to me. Take care man!

I use a degreaser called Mean Green mixed with water in my ultrasonic cleaner. You can find the Mean Green at Dollar General in the household cleaner aisle. I use it on guns, chainsaw parts, carburetors and whatever else that needs cleaning that will fit inside. Thank you and Duff for the great videos!

I’m a locksmith and so I do a lot of work using hole saws and I have run into the exact same thing where certain grades of stainless push plates on doors WILL JUST SMOKE A BRAND NEW 2-1/8 inch hole saw. Even tho the stainless plates are thin ,.... they are crazy tough !!! I CAN RELATE ! Thanks Mortske

Really enjoy watching you get this old Bronco going with some nice work done to it. As much as I enjoy will it runs, it’s really fun watching these old rigs get improved. Especially when you’ve done a couple yourself! Seeing you do the brakes reminds me of my manual brake Dodge I had. I had so many bugs that needed worked out when I redid the brakes on it.

I had a 1968 bronco that looked just like yours. And the shifter wore out so I put a hurst floor shifter in and it worked great. Wished I still had that little truck it was a billy goat went anywhere I pointed it in the mountains of Colorado.

As someone with Midwest upbringing...How many older folks can remember these as "Ford Dog Dish" hubcaps. Every ranch and farm usually had a few of these being used for animal feed bowls for dogs, barn cats, baby chicks, feeder piglets, etc......
