He's actually not a great singer, but it kinda doesn't matter because of the presence and energy he brings. It's more performative and theatrical rather the emphasis being on his singing. One of a kind showman definitely though!!
@@evanderholiday2535 his voice has changed a lot since this performance and I'd say it's now more powerful and better than ever, now, i would definitely refer to him as a "great singer". back then he was still under his heroin addiction but since he got clean in 2018, his voice got healthier and really got the chance to show his vocal range. i'd recommend watching their madison square garden performance from 2022.

i think matty looks nervous bc he doesn't know how the audience will react to them. when he's doing regular concerts he knows it'll b fine bc his fans love him but it's different with the talkshow performances. buT IM SO PROUD OF MY BBYS💛💛
I recently just saw them live and they are my favorite band ever so everytime I see them my exicetment is seen higher by 10, because I remember the live moments!

During this period of time he was doing drugs and whatnot pretty heavily so there is a chance during stuff like this he might not have been able to get the balance right and it affected his performance.
This is one of my favorite to hear live, he really likes to play around with the arrangement of notes in this one it just seems fun for him musically. Love to see him enjoying it this much. Keep up the good work, Matty! We love you!

anticipated mortality he also has said that he gets kinda nervous singing on live tv so that has something to do with it and during actual concerts he has a bunch of fans to support and sing along the whole concert but on live tv you dont really get that
anticipated mortality it's probably because he's not in the comfort of his own fans and his own audience and it's kind of a different atmosphere whereas he loves performing to his own audience where he can completely be himself + with his alcohol
