it was just my personal thought.. accessibile ok, but they're the same that played Robbers for teenagers in the Tumblr era. It's a huge difference for me..
idk about that.. of course it’s super beautiful but what about it makes it mature? listen to “A brief inquiry into online relationships,” i feel that album is super “mature.” the lyrics are intellectual but still come from the heart. i would call their new style more adventurous and controlled (in the best way) if anything. not exactly “mature” or “not for everyone.”
I can't describe why I love this new era so much. Matty sounds so natural and comfortable up there, even if he may not be nailing every single note, it feels organic and raw. I feel like this song has existed for years and it brings me happiness every time I hear it
He's never been the best singer. Often uses live autotune at shows. But that's perfectly OK. They aren't trying to fake being Adele. They just have a good time and want everyone else to as well, and they make some serious BOPS in the process.
@@jackhamm7745 i mean the autotune use in live performance isn't for covering his imperfection tho, it's an intentional effect to make the vocal sound robotic
As a 62yr music fan, I have been aware of this band for a while, but never really listened closely to them. Whoa, that changed after watching this on Jools tonight, the band absolutely blew me away, what a performance, everyone in the band on top, and what a frontman Matty is! Brilliant!
Best band I just discovered....wish I would have known sooner Purely impeccable....best band years...thinking of traveling to Germany just to see them...yes that good !!!
So much talk about Matty's amazing performance and health, I think the instrumentals need some credit here. Absolutely incredible how tight they are together in the rhythm section and my god the melodies in the saxophone solo are just so perfectly thought out. Cant wait to see these guys live in December

I was born in 1989 and when I'm growing up I love 90's - 20's music, but when I discover this band god damn I appreciate the 80's vibes in their soul, I really admire y'all
both guitarists playing some funk and funk enough to remind me of Niles Rodgers and Bernard Edward's back in my era..favorite song on new album..very satisfying indeed

The band is so tight it's hard to believe it's live. Matty is perfect here as a frontman/singer: Attitude first, good singing next. Good singing does not mean he hits every note perfectly because that is sterility, not fun. He has fun with it, playful and very good because this incredible band is so good that Matty has the room to play around some. And the song ain't half bad either ;)
