'Matty wrote this song about leaving his little brother with his parents who were fighting when he starting going on tour. When he left they got divorced and they moved out of the house they grew up in their whole lives. “Is there somebody who can watch you” meaning he feels he should be the one watching him. His brother was also present at this show so it was extra emotional for Matty to perform it.'
i wish people would be a bit more considerate towards Matty while he preforms this song. This is one of the most emotionally involved songs he has written and you can clearly see that it is hard for him to preform it at times. I just feel like during such a song is not the time to be yelling "you are sexy" or just any remarks of sorts. Show your support through your silent appreciation, connect emotionally, feel what he is saying. You can always applaud and be rowdy during other songs that are more light hearted. But its just a simple thought.
Cece Klark honestly i feel very similar to this. This song is one of my absolute favourites, lyrically, and the fact people just are shouting to him and disregarding whats being said and felt just is a bit upsetting.
What I love the most about this was that he got all of us to sit down, and his brother was the only one stood up. You can see every time he looks up he's looking at his brother and he breaks down. So emotional.
During the NZ show, people were shouting "FUCK ME MATTY" and "pass me a durry" and stuff like that and I was so disappointed at the absolute lack of respect. He asked everyone to chill out for this one song yet they couldn't even do that. At the end of the day it is about the music, thats why we all come to their shows, and screaming obscenities during an emotional song (that probably means a lot to many people) takes away from the meaning of the song itself.
Oh definitely; I just happened to be right by the people who were being a tad rude but overall it was still a beautiful performance, Matty always performs this song beautifully
He's pouring his fucking heart out in this song every time he sings it he cries a little, you shouldn't be screaming while he's clearly having a hard time this song is so meaningful and you ruin it when you scream at him.
it pisses me off that during this whole performance there were people just yelling such obscene shit and it bothered me because this song means so much to him
Okay seriously though, what is the point of whistling or yelling out "I LOVE YOU MATTY" during this song. Obviously it's an extremely emotional song that Matty poured every bit of his soul into. By singing this live, he is opening himself and sharing a part of himself with this crowd. I believe it's a very intimate experience that should not be cheapened by some fan trying to get noticed by screaming.
You can see how much anguish and guilt is in Matty especially towards the end. He is so fragile and breaking down. The fans could've chosen the worst moment to cheer
the first one yelling "I love you" was okay, because the song had not started and he was being sweet and answered with "I love you too" but if you are a true fan you should know what this song is about and how much it means to matty, even if you are not a big fan you would notice how hard it is for him to perform this song, he is on the verge of tears for gods sake. SO when the song starts you should be quiet and not keep yelling inappropriate things like "you're sexy". Show some respect! If you're not there for the music but for matty's appearance you can wait for him outside the venue
i usually wouldnt mind people screaming during a performance but this was such an emotional song and performance for Matty and it was kind of rude and annoying because it was special for him and the screaming and whistling kind of took away from it
Oh no, whatever will I do? Some random sket is disappointed in me. Seriously the fanbase for this band has fucking spiraled downhill ever since the 'directioners' jumped on the bandwagon.
Die Twice Hi! I'd love to inform you that I am neither a sket nor a 'directioner' I've been a fan of this band for over 2 years and my comment was using something called satire, please don't take it too seriously.
Die Twice are you really that ignorant wowww how inconsiderate can you be, the fan base didn't go "downhill" after directioners started liking them. a group of girls and boys who likes a boy band started liking a band that has a different taste and style, and that's a problem for you?
seeing someone, matty, putting so much emotion and his whole heart into a performance might be one of the most beautiful things on this planet, seriously. thank you so much for this video wow
I got quite emotional on the night, it was a very special show. The way he says "thank you so much" at the end really got me. I know just how much it means to him and I care too much.
I don't get why people are being so rude and shouting and screaming when we all know this is an emotional song for Matty to sing and would probably really appreciate silence during songs like Me, fallingforyou, and Is There Somebody Who Can Watch You. I understand that people go to shows and want to join in, but shouting during sad songs isn't fair on people who are at shows for the music and the feelings expressed. Matty will probably not appreciate the interruptions, and I hope people start to realise that.
im starring down at the people screaming "I LOVE YOU" & whistling and shit . you're taking away from the performance fuckkk , btw this video is brilliant what camera did you use?
i was sitting nearly directly in front of his family and i turned around for a moment to see, and to see how proud denise was made me cry and for his brother to witness this... a night i will never forget.
I think this is by far my favorite performance of Matty's. He transmits so much emotion and the song is so personal and amazing. Also his voice sound absolutely beautiful.
the fact that his brother, louis was in the crowd and also the fact that he was showing so much affection during the performance is making it more poignant
This is the most beautiful video I have ever seen of the 1975 live because it made me cry I wish I could give him a hug it hit me hard knowing it's about him and his brother and that his brother was there as well
As annoying as all the shouting is, there's something so especially eerie and unsettling about 3:01 since Matty is crying and breaking down yet everyone cheers at him. The entire crowd just excitedly screams at him as he is completely broken and it leaves such an uneasy feeling like the world we live in cheers for people being broken and empty while feeling no empathy. Lemme just quote "Look he's having a breakdown, oh what a let down a shame I think he might die!" and "As the crowd cheered for an overdose"
I feel as tho yes you are at a concert go crazy, but when it gets to an emotional song that is so close to the artist heart. You should be respectful and just listen.
Nice video. Such a very emotional performance. He's sharing some part of his life which is very personal. People should be sensitive enough to see that he's having difficulty singing it yet he still did. I love his passion. His honesty. I wonder how much and how does he show love to his loved ones? If he's this passionate about almost everything . Thank you Matty for sharing some part of you to us all. #trumanblack #mattyhealy #the1975
My sister and I live with my mum, we never really call him ever. After their seperation we had to move into a house owned by my grandpa bc we couldnt really afford it anymore (so basically we lost it). This song is close to home and the bone.
i love this performance so much and i think Denise and Tim were there at some point i'm not sure which makes it even more special considering the song is around that part of his life, this song effects so many people in so many ways. Fair enough to the woos at the beginning but shouting childish things that make people cringe is just not on. Such a beautiful power song shouldn't be interrupted like that, the annoying kids are not only interrupting matty but also the fans who feel the song means so much to them. what a Beautiful song
the people saying "people who shout are pathetic they should just listen it's disrespectful" .. those people arent trying to be disrespectful they see he is getting emotional and want to pick him back up
Well congratulations on ruining the most tender and meaningful moments of the performance. Learn to have a little respect for musicians instead of throwing yourself at them for attention.
Do you have any idea, how annoying that is for a musician? During a song that is emotional to the performer to perform, and then to have someone take advantage of that tranquility during a performance, to shout that shit. I'm pretty sure no one wanted you there.
There's a version of this on my channel, that I filmed from the back of the Albert Hall, and all you can hear is people chatting and half way someone says "Somebody who can what?". Pissed me off beyond belief.
can yall quit getting pissy on mattys behalf about people screaming 😂 he's a vocal person. if it bothered him too much he would have fucking said something.
I find it so disrespectful the girls screaming ,won't shut up for just one minute , it was an emotional performance to his brother and all they do is scream 🙄🙄
