I'm pretty sure not. The people buying these cars would already know everything in Doug's videos, and more. These videos for those people would just be to tell them the car's available. No one is buying a V10 Audi S6 for practical reasons.
@@thadwickchodeman8436 Yeah CNC motors in Upland doesn't have anywhere near the inventory they did before. They had a ton of performance cars and always showed them outside. Now they show mostly trucks and duty type vehicles.
I have owned (and LOVED) my 08' S6 for the last 7 years. Finally getting to see one of my favorite youtubers do a review of my ride has made my week. Thanks Doug! The car he is reviewing is missing a few plastic covers & stickers and is a low-spec version. The highest spec has full carbon fibre trim, rear heated seats, S6 branded (front) carpets and a couple other options. Regarding the transmission, when you switch to "S" mode, the transmission sharpens up, and that's when you get to those faster figures. Mine is stock, and I was able to do 0-62 in just over 4.6 seconds. The subtle styling makes this car blend in really well, but its always fun to be at the lights and see guys suddenly notice the "V10" badge and start freaking out. Maintenance is NOT easy; averages roughly $1100/year, so keep that in mind when pricing. I got mine with low mileage 7 years ago, and I've taken proper care of it since, so I know everything is tip-top. I would be reluctant to buy a high mileage one of these without knowing completely how well the previous owner had taken care of it. The walnut blast alone is about $900, and I've had to get it done twice now with relatively low mileage (only use 94 octane), so keep that in mind.
Lambo prices, and almost everything is an engine out, i had out 4 times in 10 years lol not because was broke but needed maintenance like ac compressor, alternator those things.. a x pipe exhaust does some miracles haha
@@AmanSingh-bf2gn Idon't have anything of mine personally, but it's the same as this one; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d71R_a3agIo.html
The interior of this Audi blow my head, it's so incredible, very technological and pretty advanced of his year (in my opinion) This is a beatiful and powerfull car
This was one of the craziest Audi Eras. Lambo V10 S6, Lambo V10 S8, V8 S4 and a DIESEL V12 Q7. Shame we won't see anymore of these crazy vehicle experiments anymore.
its not all that uncommon though.. Chevy put the corvette engine in some of their sedans and dodge did the same thing with the viper engine. so why not audi
@@BarryGGould It’s as silly as to say all V10 Dodge trucks got a Viper engine, when the Viper really got a truck engine. This engine does not come out of a Lambo. Lambo got an engine out of an Audi.
@Eric Aung The Audi V10 is the 90mm spaced Audi V8 TFSI with two more cylinders etc. The Lambo V10 was a 88mm spaced port injection engine with different firing order etc. People seem to have problems grasping this, especially when Lambo started to use the Audi V10.
Exactly my thought when i heard him say that. The badges and the quad exhausts are the only thing that would differentiate the M5 to a 520d with an M-Sport body kit. Most german performance sedans of the time were subtle. Even the maniacs at AMG kept it pretty close to the regular cars.
@@bogdanrus7953 Honestly even the new M5s without the black chrome/carbon fiber packages look pretty subtle compared to the E63s and CTS-V. The only way to really differentiate them is the grille badge, fender vents and quad exhausts.
>be european >v10 under the hood >make it look like a normal car >be asian >underpowered inline 4 cylinder car >make it look like it reaches the speed of light lmao
My friend bought a 07 S8 V10 just yesterday and today here I find a video of a similar car. I got to drive it around for an hour or two in various road conditions and I have to agree with the transmission draining power, and how quiet the car is, not revealing its V10 notes easily. However I found the handling amazing. I was driving uphill so understeer wasn't a problem but along with its aggressive sport mode for the air suspension, the large all wheel drive sedan felt like it has been thrown into the hairpin sideways, feeling like as if the car was hopping on its outer wheels with minimal roll during turn and launches violently as you floor the gas to exit the corner. It just felt so fun and satisfying. My friend's car have some malfunctions in the engine, which I am afraid he must require the engine to be dismounted in order to just access the engine. Everything in the engine bay looked so cramped, not as much as the S6 though.
Doug: "Lambo V10.... Lambo V10..." Also Doug: "This engine isn't really a Lambo V10" This 5.2 was based on the Audi 4.2 V8 FSI. The later 5.2 that was in the Lambo and R8 are the same as this engine, except for stronger internals and a dry sump. The Lambo 5.0 v10 was not the same engine.
The only difference on the internals as far as strength is the split pin vs solid pin in the crankshafts. All other internals in the rotating assembly are identical.
@@jonasthemovie No, I'm comparing the 5.2 with itself. It was used in 5 cars and the internals are the same between all 5 cars other than the crank that used a split pin in the front engine cars and a solid pin in the mid engine cars.
Vice president: alright its time for ur inauguration speech president Doug Doug:THISSSSS..... Is the United States of America, in fact, it is my United States of America.
Today I am going to review the United States of America, show you all of it's quirks and features and then I will take it down on the road and give it a Doug Score. But before we start be sure to check out CAAAARRSSS anda BIIIIDS....
Picked up one back in September from the original owner, 72k ish miles. Transmission needed a full rebuild which wasn’t disclosed to us prior to buying but absolutely love the car still. The car drives/handles amazing for what it is (LUXURY sport sedan). Will sit at 100mph all day. The only improvement I’d say would be the transmission and not necessarily making it faster. A 7th gear overdrive would go a long way at making the ride even smoother and more efficient.
Seems like old Doug here forgot to mention that this V10 is a faulty engine which has to be taken apart every 30 thousand miles to manually clean the built up carbon. Tyler and Carwizard made videos on this exact car
I own the 2008 S5, naturally aspirated 4.2 V8 in a 6-speed manual. It's in a sparkling-like Sprint Blue. Alcantara + leather seats (in 2008! impressive), and carbon fiber trim with black interior to match. I absolutely love it and won't sell it lol. Have had for about 3 years now. Its a dream to drive! Nothing beats analog.
I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I do. Interior wood trim is nice, the graphics are kinda neat. But its not too complicated or fussy and its still more car than iPad.
These massive engine old school monsters may not have as much power or torque as the newer models but they somehow always manage to just feel just way more grand under acceleration, it’s just more of an event even if it isn’t as fast
@@Stressless2023 it has voice to text, but like most systems its average, can also draw the letters on the dial, but thats slower as you still have to do it letter by letter
@@gureno19 Oh ok thought you meant it didn't even offer that feature. But yeah mine is no better, it might catch every other letter you tell it smh. My wife's Chevy Equinox has a much better setup that's easy to use, but I don't want a car note just for the convenience lol.
I don't know what it is with Americans with German sedans, who then reiterate the vehicle model via vanity plate. But it is very much a thing. "MYBMWM3" and such. I don't understand why that would ever be a thing, let alone such a common one.
But at least it's rewarding if you keep pouring money into it. The newer ones are going to be just as unreliable if not worse. And it's a turbo V6... Those cars will be worthless in 10 years.
I feel like people say stuff like this just to say it. There was a different S6 for sale on carsandbids and the service records were posted, it had 100k+ miles too and it didn't look like a money pit to me. People need to actually do their research on what makes cars like this costlier to keep up rather than regurgitating those tired old tropes about cars like this being money sinks.
@@NikoBell12 own the last production line 09 S8, always drive hard to reduce carbon build up, still to this day I enjoy this beast! Hard to let go, but 1 day it will sadly happen 😞 .
This is a true enthusiast's car. Something with a Lamborghini V10 that does absolutely nothing to signal to others that it has a Lamborghini V10. That engine is for the driver, not anyone else, and it really feels like Audi knew that when it came to styling this car.
No cigar , fellas. The bmw and the lancia engines were never fitted to a supercar. They could have been, but they never did. You could argue that the v12 fitted to the old 8 and 7 series was the basis of the mac f1 but even then, it was very much revised and upgraded , the Audi literally had the lambo /r8 lump.
I can't stand doug with his quarks n features......until HE EDUCATUES YOU ON CARS YOU NEVER KNEW....AS A CAR GUY.....thank you Doug. The best car enthusiast/ presenter.....with all his quarks n features...😁
Yeah my parents have the same Infotainment System in their A4 and I find it to be really intuitive and its very easy to cotrol most fuctions straight from the steering wheel without reaching over. Also the screen behind the steeringwheel is a godsent when youre following the navigation system because it shows you exactly when to turn, which lane to pick etc.
something about this cars practically with its guages, sun visor, cupholders, ect is just peak perfection. no bullshit touch screens but lights and buttons for everything.
Shame that Doug didn't talk about the low corners of the doors sticking out from the body, I wanted to know what those were about. It's a quirky feature too.
Valet mode from the button is a throttle and speed limiter, it was in Lamborghini's of similar years, unsure on the R8, the key is for locking the trunk and glovebox. The early S and R Tronic had slow shifts; these cars benefit from a TCU tune to cut shift times considerably. Great video.
I have a friend that owned one of these. Same color in fact. Car was his pride and joy. Don't know what he did to the exhaust on it, but it really let that V10 sing. Sounded absolutely beautiful. Then it got sideswiped while parked in Denver...... Car was totaled. Can't remember what he bought after
Literally 10 minutes ago: Browsing local used car sales. "Hmmm Audi S6 looks good with that V10, lets see how much costs the used one. Lets watch some reviews on youtube." BAAAANG!!! DOUG DE MURO made a new video :D
Had the V6 version that came out at the end of the generation, with the lights from the next generation. Was the best A6! Previously had an 02 2.7 and currently have a 16’
I had a go at one of these in my 335d... it didn't get entirely embarrassed by it... but the guy and his wife were in their 80s and were still giving it the beans. Respect.
Also in the US Audi did super bowl advert with Jason Statham with the standard 3.0 super charged which epitomises what Doug is talking about the styling - great video!
I worked with a guy who had one of these. After a year of fixing things that break and their associated costs, you could buy a real Lamborghini and a warranty.
My friend’s father’s Mazda 929 had solar panels in his sun roof as well and this was from the 90s! If you can review a 929 that would be pretty awesome.
Then keep you S6 forever, just for this solar roof. There's a reason why cars don't offer solar roof because you can't have solar roof on a glass sunroof. Most people prefer sunroofs.
I loved the old days of full size rims in the trunk. Mostly because my wife would curb the wheels within a week of getting a new Audi. So I could swap it out.
The check light also good when it show you something error or low washer fluid and you don’t know what that symbol means on the dashboard and press check it will tell you that the windshield washer liquid is low
@@iHaveTheDocuments Even thou it's not that fast comparably. I still want one. Part of it is to just say it has a V10. And to rev it to hear the V10. There are only 2 other cars that's possible for be to get now and say that.
The possibility to use a key to start the car, is if the key runs out of battery, then keyless start stops working. You'll still be able to start the car by using the key. There's a special black key for the car, if previous owner did'nt lost it, which is for vallet and workshop use, preventing access to the glovebox. Adaptive cruise control actually works great in these cars. Using it every day in my own S6 2007. You can even select between 3 modes changing how aggressive it's on keeeping distance.
They just don’t make them like this anymore. Range Rover doesn’t come with 2 sun visor mirrors. Or “S8” embossed in the rear seats. And the practicality overall is great.
The Lamborghini 5.0 had nothing to do with Audi's 5.2, so it was not a lamborghini V10 The 5.2 was developed from a V8 and was later upgraded for the gallardo.2
My 2008 Infiniti M35S has adaptive cruise control, lane assist, touch screen infotainment system, and adaptive headlights, all of which are still functional at 176000 miles. It’s a forgotten gem.
C6 RS6 is what you have to review next. Twin-turbocharged V10 that was more identical to the Lamborghini’s V10, but made significantly more power than it and the R8 V10 of its time.
Not that I’m biased or anything 😅, but I think the C7.5 is the sweet spot in the S6 history. The 4.0T V8 engine is shared with the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Continental, and others (albeit with less power) and pairs much nicer with the 7spd dual-clutch-it’s also incredibly smooth. No annoying touch screens either, still has CarPlay, and you can put the native nav map in between two physical main dials which I find more attractive than virtual cockpit. I’m a very happy 2018 S6 Prestige owner. 😄
@@coltonjudd7984 I agree. But every 4 months he had to change a part. That's bad craftsmanship to me. He is not a racer , or with abusive driving behaviors. Maybe just bad luck...
...the marks from the baby seat in the rear seats exist to this day.... Dont own this car without the JHM tune and exhaust - it really wakes up the car and sounds amazing
Bout to get my second one. Audis are very practical, not the most reliable. But when you got it working, you can do anything from straight line speed to banking corners with no problem. Tech and design in they’re later models are the standard today.
Thanks for putting 3 or 4 ads at the end of the video. So if someone wanted to buffer all the way to the end in order to skip the ads; they'd stilllll have to watch ads 😂😂
Might this be a playful expression of some kind of a subconciousness, attempting to act as a reminder to abandon the consequential pathway of corrupting commercialisation or might it be that this look back on seven to eight years is romanticised?
I owned a black one with a custom hex grill. I think you missed the hidden compartment in the armrest. And the iPod connection in the glovebox. In all my Audis, the vents never stayed pointed in the direction you pointed them. The coating on the light switch almost always flakes off. The back windows always fell down because of broken clips.
The “Lamborghini” V-10 was actually based on the 4.2L fsi Audi engine of the period and was produced by Audi for Lamborghini - its more accurate to say the Lambo was powered by an Audi V-10.
One time a guy in a red one pulled up next to me on the freeway in WI. I was doing about 95 and i gave him a thumbs up and he gunned it he was swerving through traffic at like 130...what a car and what a guy
@ 16:12 . . . torque. that was the main problem with the V10. it didn't have the torque where it needed it. The next version of the S6, went Turbo V8 for this reason. Torque at 1400 vs 3000 for the V10. And you can tell in the full second plus 0-60 time.
2004 Toyota Sienna offered adaptive cruise control. Mazda 929 (1993) - The solar ventilation system uses solar cells that are embedded in the glass sunroof to power fans that remove hot air from the inside the car when it is parked.
